SW credit question, booking and cancelling?

Hi ~ I have a SW credit that needs to be used before November 09. If I book a July 09 trip now, but have to cancel, does that renew my credit?

This is what I'm trying to do:

I have a $456 credit

I'd like to book a trip that costs $1116 [for July 09]

I'd pay the extra $666 [$666 + $456 = $1116]

If I have to cancel, would that mean I now have a $1116 credit that must be used by March 2010? Or would I still have $456 credit that needs to be used before Nov 09 and a $666 credit that needs to be used by March 2010?

This is what happened to me before. The credit will expire in Nov or extend it for 6months less $50 which would take that til may 2010. If you pay now with a credit and add more money to it, you new reservation(including anything you pay now) will expire at the same time Nov. There is no way of getting that credit extended(at least not that i am aware-if someone know please explain )

If you can do 2 separate reservations, not round trip (assuming fare is $550 each way,) you could apply the credit to the one way flight, and pay separately for a return flight. If something does happen and gets cancelled, then the 1st reservation of $550 or thereabout would expire in Nov, but the 2nd reservation would be separate and good for 1 year.
