SW booking with points

I've scanned the master thread and couldn't find answers to my questions.

1. Can you purchase ebci when booking using points?
2. We are a family of 5. Can I book all of us one way with points and then use the remaining points for a few of us on return flight and then purchase flights for people that I don't have enough points for. The return flight will have to be two transactions right?

We got the credit card offer with the 50,000 points but we won't have enough points for everything when they open up the late June flights.

yes, and yes. YOu can purchase EBCI using your swa cc(more points) after booking on points, and you can book however many flights you can afford on points for your trip back, then just book the rest using regular payment.
Be aware you may have multiple itinerary numbers to deal with this way, but I do that all the time, just keep your paperwork in order.
