Booked our WDW trip for Jan. and bought airline tix from southwest. We were planning on taking a friends 10yr old granddaughter. Theres a strong chance she maybe moving due to family work issues and won't be able to go and probably not able to travel in the next year or so (too long to explain why!). With SW's new rules disallowing transfer of unused funds to someone other than named on the reservation, am I out the $300 I've spent on her ticket? Different rules since she's a minor and I booked it? Ugh...HELP!!!

Unless you booked a refundable fair you're unfortunately out the money. My dd who is 7 and I fly almost monthly and that's the case with her (her credits can only be used by her), so I'm guessing that would be the same in your case.

The credits will indeed be in her name, she will still have a flight available but you are out the money ( unless her parents can reimburse you ) Is there a chance she could go with you another time ? Or have a need to fly somewhere else in the future ?

I'd advise going over to lurk a bit on the forums at FlyerTalk. If there is a way to recoup the value of the ticket, posters there will know about it.

if you write to them explaining the situation , chances are they will credit you instead. That's what we did with Jetblue and they gave us a credit on our name. We basicly told our story and wrote something to the effect that we bought the airfare with our money but people xx was not able to make it and she is a minor blah blah and that we would really appreciate if they could credit either of our accounts as we would be using it in the upcoming year but not his person as she is a minor. Since the purchase was done on DH CC, they credit his account. It doesn't hurt to try
