Suzy and Perla Skip the Lines Again: From roughing it to the lap of luxury

Yeah, not to start a flame war here, it is an amusement park not a classical musical performance hall. We have had more than our fair share of NFL drama here, Pac Man Jones and Vince Young were enough to put us over the edge. Hopefully both the Bengals and Titans will rebound this year. Great pixs and report, keep them coming. This is great fun to read and I think I have my family about ready to sacrifice for a year of Disney.

.....So I didn't understand who Izzy was. And I didn't understand pixie dust in the story line. We have glitter at our house which we use as pixie dust at our house. This is all the stuff you need to know to have this make sense.

One evening we had friends over for dinner and Boo comes out with just a t-shirt on and her hand in her panties. Donald says, "Boo! What are you doing?" With this she pulls her hand out of her panties and with a flourish distributes glitter over us all, saying, "I'm going to fly and you can too." This was surprising, to say the least, for oh, so many reasons. Our questions just kept coming:

"Boo, why is there glitter in your panties?"
"Because I don't have a necklace for it."

"Boo, why does glitter make us fly?"
"It's pixie dust!"

You can imagine the following questions of confusion. We did, with the help of Mulan who had seen the show, figure it out. But not before laughing so hard it hurt. For the next week, because Donald and I are evil like this, and also, because it made us laugh hysterically. every. time. whenever we were around one of our friends who didn't know the pixie dust situation we would ask:

"Hey, Boo, where do you keep your pixie dust?"
To which she happily would turn to them and say, "I keep pixie dust in my panties. Would you like me to sprinkle you?"

Ah, the unexpected rewards of parenthood!

Loving the report/pictures! The kids are all so beautiful!

THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW, SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY :rotfl:

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Good one, babe!

That thread really surprised me, too. I mean, seriously? No talking at all on rides?

But one good thing did come out of that thread...I saw the link to your trip report. While I may have clicked on it only because it mentioned Fort Wilderness (ok, so I'm a HUGE Fort fan), I'm really enjoying it. Love your writing style!

Donald's face paint was really cool. Kudos to him for being able to sit there for 20 minutes. No way could I do that.

Well, since you followed me from there, then you already heard my impassioned feelings on the matter. What really got me is when one shusher said, "Everyone should be allowed to enjoy it as Walt intended." I hate that. You have no idea how Walt intended people to enjoy things. Don't try to manipulate me with your superior "What Walt wanted" comments. You don't own him. I can invent things Walt wanted too!

Yeah, I guess we Bengals fans don't have the only drama going around. I'm just soooo sick of those superior Pittsburgh fans who have drama and STILL manage to have superbowl rings. I just thought for sure Ben would take them down a notch with his idiocy. But no. They get to go to the Superbowl anyway. Drama and all.

And if that weren't enough Heinz Ward has to be on DWTS and actually be nice and I like him. Curse it all.

Thank goodness for Fantasy Football where I sometimes win games. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thanks! It was hard to write that story properly because it was HILARIOUS but had a lot you needed to know to understand how funny it was. So I'm glad you got it. Not a single one of our friends ever wanted sprinkled. Boo simply could not understand this. :rotfl:

same here! and I'm enjoying this TR so much that I'm reading your others as well!

and I totally agree w/you on the shushers. it's an amusement park, people - live a little, be amused!

I am having so much fun keeping up with your trip report - and I love all the family members chiming in :thumbsup2

My girls had a great time doing the BBB several years ago...but it's rather bittersweet in that they have outgrown it. At the time, my oldest was 8, and was too "old" for princess bun.

As for body image - have you made your daughter watch Dove soap's campaign for beauty videos? This one is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U

It shows how our "ideals" of beauty don't even exist. I make my girls watch it all the time ;)

How much longer til your next trip? Are you going to renew your AP's??

That was AWESOME! I'm gonna have them watch it. I'm currently forcing them to watch John Cusack chick flick from my teenage years.

Our next trip is in June. And the Perla clan won't be renewing our AP's. We are planning a DisneyLAND trip next.

80's movie night is a regular part of our week! Ever since my oldest wanted to see "Easy A" she had to get schooled. I think we've seen all the majors - but I keep finding others - like we watched "A league of their own" last week. Very fun!

When in June do ya'll go? Will our paths cross as we begin OUR year of Disney??

So we got off the bus and headed to the camp site. We had told the children, because the MK was open until 3 am this evening, that there was mandatory nap time. But no one slept. Jack-Jack played quietly in his tent with his new playset. And Boo played with her new Repunzel set in the dirt outside our tent.

And the big kids rode their bikes.

I laid down for 30 minutes and almost fell asleep, but didn't manage to fully fall asleep. But it was nice none-the-less.

Once awake, Charming and I took some pictures of Suzy's hard work:

IMG_4806.jpg

IMG_4808.jpg

By the end of the day we ended up with 122 FP's. 28 just for Space Mountain. But that is a later story.

We got our first at 8:00 a.m. Those were Space Mt. Then Peter Pan:
IMG_4809.jpg

I then packed up for the night and redid everyone's hair. You know how I said there had been trauma on here about trying to get the gel out of these hairstyles and they last for days? Well, we seriously never experienced this and I actually had to wet down their hairstyles and redo them before we went for dinner. But all was well. Suzy and clan left earlier than us and walked to the boat. I was working hard on the girls and we left about 10 minutes after them. A few minutes before 5 o'clock. It had been a very nice break indeed.

Just because I'm a terrible person and like to prove my point fully, I timed the bus from the bus stop.

From the moment we got to the bus stop to the time we were on the Purple bus was 3 minutes 23 seconds.

Yeah. Buses are cool.

When we got the boat a purple boat was waiting for us and we boarded right away. And who was on the boat? The rest of us!

We all had to get off at the Contemporary but they were eating there at Chef Mickey's. We had to hop a Monorail to the GF.

We had time, not lots, but we were ok. So we took a few photos.

IMG_0863.jpg

IMG_4811.jpg

IMG_4813.jpg

We had 20 minutes to get to our 1900 Park Faire ADR. No problem.

But, I'm not a whiner nor impatient, we waited for the elevator at the Contemporary FOREVER! I mean forever. I'm not sure what in the world was going on but the elevators never came down to our floor. It started just us and 2 families. And ended up with an entire lobby full of people and luggage and strollers. NOT kidding. I was starting to freak out. And we made Boo get out of the stroller so we could go up the stairs, wherever they were.

And just at that moment an elevator opened in front of us and the 3 original families (we were one) DASHED into it. There may have been some pushing and shoving, but I swear we were in LINE!

We dashed to the monorail area and had to wait for awhile on this too. And then wait for all the stops. I was starting to panic. I HATE being late.

IMG_4814.jpg

But there was this darling family on the monorail and I entertained myself by talking to the kid and letting him play on my iphone. And then the monorail STOPPED. Oh my goodness. Let me OFF this thing!

By the time we got to Park Faire we were 15 minutes late. Are you kidding me? That's how long it took to get from the Contemporary to the GF. Like, 35 minutes.

Oh well. We walked up and gave our name and they seated us immediately. I asked where to park the stroller and she pointed to some doors. It opened up to the most delightful little courtyard. LOVE!

IMG_4816.jpg

We had a table in the main room next to a pillar, one table away from the buffet and the main door that all the characters came out of. It was an ok table. The best part was that we knew exactly when the characters would reach our table. About 4 minutes after being announced from the door.

The first thing on our list to do was get Boo some food. I scoped the situation and started her off with an appetizer of mashed potatoes.

IMG_4818.jpg

Because Donald's Mac sorts all of our photos immediately into chronological order, I can tell you that at this exact moment Milo was meeting Mickey. They had had a much less stressful entry into their dinner. Boat to Chef Mickey's. Picture. Light up thingy. Lit up. Seated.

Mickey!!!
P3200060.jpg

P3200065.jpg

Yeah, Mickey, you're ok, but I'm hungry:
P3200067.jpg

And, shockingly before anything interesting happened to us at all, they were already meeting Minnie! Isn't this a great picture?

P3200061.jpg

Does Jack-Jack look excited to meet Minnie? Do the boys look like pirates or just filthy?
P3200063.jpg

P3200064.jpg

While that madness was going on, across the pond, Lady Tremaine had been announced. I was not prepared for the announcing, nor for being right there. And because she has an attitude to keep up she comes into the room with a presence and before making her rounds she puts on a little show. And we just happened to be conveniently placed. She haughtily looked at my gorgeous princesses, covered in mashed potatoes, and then looked at me in disgust:

"You call yourself a mother? I AM A MOTHER! Mothers keep their children clean."

And then proceeded to wipe Boo's face. This was NOT the last time this happened. Seems the theme of the day was people being glared at. And I was glared at throughout this meal by Lady Tremaine.

IMG_4819.jpg

Shortly there after (one table later) she came for her official meeting of our table.

IMG_4820.jpg

It was kind of hard to eat because this meal is constant action. Announce, two tables later. Announce, two tables later. Dance. March. I don't even know. There was a LOT going on.

Fortunately, the food here was kind awful. So it didn't really matter that I WOLFED my food down without tasting it.

IMG_4821.jpg

IMG_4822.jpg

We loved Anastasia. She was our favorite for sure.

Meanwhile, in another sector:
Pluto!!
P3200068.jpg

P3200070.jpg

Then we had Drizella:
IMG_4823.jpg

IMG_4824.jpg

Aren't Drizella and Boo so adorable?
IMG_4825.jpg

Oh dear, I'm at my picture count. So no finish for you. You'll just have to wait to see how the meal ended and stay tune even further to see if any of us stayed up till 3 a.m.

Isn't it fun? Father of the Bride is next on my list. Not 80's but still.

We are going the 11th-18th. Or something like that. We're gonna work out the "official, official" details out on Sunday with a girlfriend of mine who is coming this time. And once the official itinerary is done, then I'll know what our exact dates are.

That's right- MAC's are cool :wave2:

Just adding my two cents about the dining experience here. The food was just so-so. I think it might have been better had it not been SO NOISY in this dining room. Even just sitting at our table, you kind of had to shout at each other. Lady Tremaine was the highlight, the CM role playing as her never came out of character even a little bit. I figured being done up as a pirate I would get a few comments from the evil stepfamily, but not a word. I guess all of the attention was on the princesses I was with.pirate:

When we went to Park Fare way back when - I would say it was the best buffet we had - very, very yummy! But I suppose that things might have possibly changed in 5 years ;)

And way back when, the step mother and sisters were not part of it. It was Cinderella, Charming, Suzy and Perla!

And about movies - I had not thought about "Father of The Bride!" I am going to put that in my netflix queue right now. (What else have you watched - I might need to change things to 90s movie night!)

We didn't love Park Fare either. I was really looking forward to it and booked it so my niece could meet Cinderella and honestly is was a huge waste of time and money. Our character interaction was terrible except for Prince Charming. And the food was just ok plus it was so loud and rushed that we never got to really sit down and enjoy the food. Add in that a little girl vomited right in the main walkway to the buffet while her mother screamed at her to stop kind but a bad spin on the whole thing.

Prince charming was great though and got down in the floor to talk to my niece and then danced with her, very sweet.

Donald, Donald, Donald..... the ladies are looking to snag a prince, not a ne'er-do-well pirate!

That's right- MAC's are cool :wave2:

:teacher: Fine. I've been schooled. Mac's are cool. But let me tell you for internet surfing & word processing, Microsoft rocks and Mac's are stupid. And I will not be swayed.

It was LOUD! Trying to video tape the character banter was ridiculous as you couldn't even hear it on your own. And we know our character buffets. We've done the royal table (right before it became RIDICULOUSLY expensive, when Ariel was 2), Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Akershus, Tusker House, and now Park Faire. We generally like the food and atmosphere. We  Crystal Palace & Tusker House's food.

So my problems with Park Faire in comparison to the others:
1) It was twice as loud as the others, that includes Chef Mickey's which is not quiet.
2) There were fewer food choices.
3) There was not a single thing I got seconds on. And I can't remember a single dish that I can describe to you right now.

My desires in a character meal are that there are one or two things to eat that I remember when I'm writing my TR. I only remember here what I have photos of. That's not good.

And that the characters have great interaction. These characters were great, and I'll comment on Cinderella and Prince Charming in my next chapter. Lady Tremaine and Anastasia were GREAT actresses. But you couldn't hear their antics when they were more than one foot away. Lady Tremaine did most of her acting parts within 3 feet of our table and though we could tell she was awesome and funny, we couldn't hear her. That is annoying.

When we went to Park Fare way back when - I would say it was the best buffet we had - very, very yummy! But I suppose that things might have possibly changed in 5 years ;)

A few years ago our kids were in a school play version of Disney's Cinderella and Ariel was Suzy and Mulan was Jaq. We looked high and lo that year to meet the mice and never could find them. We probably would have gone to Park Faire then if that had still been the line up.

We watched Father of Bride last night and the girls loved it. And, as always, I cried just a tiny bit.

It's hard to overcome vomit. And rushed, yes. That is how we felt too. Non-stop action is great in an Ironman film. Not necessarily at dinner.

Donald, Donald, Donald..... the ladies are looking to snag a prince, not a ne'er-do-well pirate!

 He deliberately left his make-up on during our break time which was hard because he has pretty severe allergies and we were laying down in a tent! Very hard to not rub your eyes under such circumstances. But at the GF, a formal place where pirates clearly don't belong, he got not a single comment. We both thought that was weird.

Also, your comment about ladies wanting princes, if my choice was the 1900 Park Faire Prince Charming actor or the MK Jack Sparrow actor, I'm picking that Jack Sparrow for sure! He's a hottie.

:teacher: Fine. I've been schooled. Mac's are cool. But let me tell you for internet surfing & word processing, Microsoft rocks and Mac's are stupid. And I will not be swayed.

*gasp* blasphemy! I'm with you, Donald. Apple all the way!

We live in a multi platform house, too. My daughter and I using Macs and my husband and 9 year old son using PC's. It makes for lively dinner conversation.

Today here in Ohio it is POURING. Yet again. I got up at 7 am and Pine Sol'ed my house. I LOVE the smell of Pine Sol. And I'm on a "not as many preservatives in our house" kick so I'm making all the bread we're eating from scratch this month. Instead of making two loaves this morning, I made one loaf and a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls. I asked the girls if they wanted to help and Mulan said,

"I think you can handle hitting the Pillsbury can on the counter all by yourself, Mom." :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Clearly, preservatives are not a normal issue in our family. They did eventually come out to watch me and Ariel said, "Making cinnamon rolls is a little more interesting than making dinner, but not nearly as exciting as making cakes." And the went out to the living room to turn on the Wii.

So it's now 10 am, I'm sitting in a clean house, only 1 load of laundry to do, we're all watching Mulan play Epic Mickey, and I've had coffee and a cinnamon roll.

I'm telling you all that, because I'm gonna try really hard to write a lot today! :thumbsup2 Reason being, I'm not doing anything. And I'm pondering starting my June pretrippie on Monday as tomorrow is a planning day. So I'm feeling pressure and, if you haven't noticed, we're only half way through our FIRST day! That is not good. Our June trip is lurking.

So this first chapter of my day's hopefully 3 chapters :scared1: is the conclusion of our meals.

I start you out with Suzy's dessert. Well, let's be honest. There is no way this is the only dessert she ate. But I wasn't there and this is the only one she took a picture of. Do you think she took a picture to compare to my oreo ear cupcakes? For our June trip I'm making the cupcakes again but this time I'm gonna buy sprinkles specifically for them instead of recycling Bengal color sprinkles which were the only ones I had.
IMG_0356.jpg

And while she was eating that, Donald Duck came up to say, "You can't even wash your kids up for dinner?"
P3200072.jpg

P3200073.jpg

While they were chitchatting with Donald, we were meeting a Prince. To me, this Prince Charming seemed like one of the characters in a movie about Harvard. Not the pretentious boys, but just the random, clean cut, Harvard kid in the background.

IMG_1165.jpg

I'm sure it's just my prejudices coming out, but the last princes I had met were Aladdin and Naveen on our September trip. Prince Naveen was a real charmer and told great jokes. And Prince Aladdin was a real chitchatter and love Mulan. Prince Charming, on the other hand, was so boring. He was a cardboard prince.

I just asked my girls which of the princes they would choose and simultaneously and without hesitation they replied:
Ariel: "Prince Naveen!"
Mulan: "Aladdin!"
Boo: "Prince Charming!"

So there ya go. Prince Charming's actor was chosen for his appeal to the under five set.

Meanwhile, back at the Mouse House, Goofy was schmoozing with some pirates. Even though Goofy cleans up well when he is at his night-time gig as a Chef in a 5 star restaurant, we all know that he actually is a pirate for his day job. So he was happy to see some of his own ilk.
P3200075.jpg

P3200076.jpg

In all the chaos that was our dinner, I had completely forgotten that the thing to eat here was the strawberry soup. I've been on many a cruise and had many a bowl of strawberry soup. So I was really looking forward to this and all of us, other than Donald, had a bowl. Though the big girls just got a tiny bowl to dip their strawberries into it. This is what most of us chose to do as this was overly sweet and rich. It was more of a drink or a dip than a soup.

IMG_4826.jpg

Boo, however, is a HUGE berry freak. Berries of all kinds. She could eat them day and night and has had plenty of blue poop in her day from the sheer amount of blueberries consumed. So none of us were surprised when she came up with a solution of how to eat this deliciousness from a bowl when you are only 4 and don't have good spoon skills.

IMG_4827.jpg

Lady Tremaine was NOT happy about this display of bad manners and quickly came over to give us a piece of her mind. But she didn't have enough time to do so properly as her hated stepdaughter had arrived in the pumpkin to take over the night.

IMG_4829.jpg

IMG_4830.jpg

Cinderella spent quite a bit of time talking to our girls. I have absolutely no idea what was said. Because I couldn't hear her. But her dance music started while she was at our table and she spent a few extra moments dancing with Boo:
IMG_4831.jpg

And then the Prince came to claim her and they went to waltz on the floor. The Prince wasn't a very good waltzer. This may be why I was so disappointed in him. He and Cinderella laughed and talked while they danced and he seemed genuinely in to her. She seemed not very in to him. Am I over analyzing this?

Lady Tremaine looked on in disgust and kept turning to us and saying witty things, loudly, which I still couldn't hear.
IMG_4832.jpg

And while I'm talking about Lady Tremaine, I forgot to tell you earlier that she and our server originally hit our table at the exact same time. So Lady Tremaine was there when we ordered drinks. I was going to let my girls choose their own drinks but they were being indecisive and Lady Tremaine says, "You are the mother. Take charge!" And then proceeded to take charge of the entire situation and ordered the girl's drinks herself. I don't even remember what they got to drink. Because I had no part in it. I'm pretty sure Cinderella's real mother did NOT die of natural causes. I think she was just like me and Lady Tremaine took things into her own hands to rid the world of such an unworthy mother.

Anyway, back to the moment at had, the prince and Cinderella chose alternate partners and danced with them. The prince chose poorly and the girl he got would NOT dance with him, try as he might. Come on, girl, it's your moment in the spotlight. Enjoy it. She'll grow up to be a shoosher for sure.

The Prince was simply not scoring with the ladies this evening.

Lady Tremaine came to wipe Boo's face off one more time before sweeping out of the room.

While all of that was going on, our server, who was an excellent server, by the way, came to give us clean spoons. Because this meal had been so frantic I had not remembered that it takes 20 minutes for your tummy to feel full and had scarfed down my food. And had gotten every dessert they made so I could try them all.

Well, the spoons arrived about 25 minutes after I had started eating and I had clearly eaten WAY more than it takes to be full. I was so full I could blow up. And then these spoons arrive. I actually grabbed the server's arm and said, "Why did you just give us spoons? We don't want these spoons."

Seriously, I said that. And she laughed at me. And said cryptically, "There is another special surprise coming."

Oh no! By this point in the day, Donald was sick of his eye make-up, the girls were done with their itchy dresses, we were tired of the deafening noise. Suzy & Milo were checking out and we didn't want them to have fun without us. And we were so full of who knows what food that we just wanted out of there. We don't WANT these spoons!!!

So as she sashayed off I yelled after her, "Just bring us the check!" And she gave me a cheeky smile and pushed the "announcing door" open and was gone before you knew it.

I went to grab my purse and couldn't find it! Panic! I went out to the stroller to see if it was there. And Donald texted me, 'It's under your chair, yo-yo."

So back in humiliation I came.

And arriving on our table (with our check) and a lot of fanfare was this:
IMG_4833.jpg

You cannot tell from this picture but this thing was HUGE. Overwhelming for the overly stuffed. And yet look at Boo's face. I guess even stuffed full kids still get excited when they see ice cream covered in berries, pineapple, and whipped cream.

It was good. I choked down a few bites while we waited for the check to return with our cards.

And then we left Donald to pack up and the girls and I went into the bathroom. Do you know what we did in there?

No guesses?

They put their other clothes on and THREW OUT their dresses. Yup. We trashed 'em. I felt so free.

Now, let's get the heck out of Dodge and go use our 122 FP's, watch fireworks, and party the night away!!! I could not be sicker of pretending to be princesses. It's exhausting. We are rough and tumble girls and that's the way I like it!

We walked outside only to realize that the stairs to the monorail are permanently closed. So we had to go back in and rode the elevator up. A monorail was just pulling out as we arrived so I was a bit concerned it'd be a long wait but I guess on 10 days with EMH at MK they run a lot of monorails because there was another one almost immediately. Another perk of coming at a busy time.

And then I made an error I almost never make. I chose the wrong bag check line. Argh! It seemed like forever and I knew for a fact Suzy and Milo were already in the park having fun. I don't have contraband. I have a camera. And some AP's and room keys. And some baby wipes. That's about it, dude. Please let me in the MK!

Finally!

Donald had decided to keep his make-up on for our official castle picture.
Photo0203FourBySix.jpg

Sorry, Boo, you aren't in this one:
Photo0204FourBySix.jpg

We turned right at Tomorrowland cause the rest were riding Buzz. But Mulan and I had a stop to make. Her shoes were hurting her. And I wanted Mickey crocs. Even though she is only 10 her feet are almost the same size as mine. So I bought myself some crocs and let her wear them this night. Her shoes went in the bottom of the stroller.

I have Mickey Crocs! I've wanted some ever since my mom bought them years ago in this exact store. The store behind the Merchant of Venus behind the ice cream shop.

And there, I leave you. That's all the pictures I have uploaded so you'll have to wait for more chapters.

As for my final conclusions of 1900 Park Faire. I know it seems like we are Commando Tourers. But the truth is, I really like to mosey and kick back and watch. I'm both a watcher AND a participator. I like a nice balance. And if I could put my finger on the one reason I didn't enjoy this meal it was quite simply there was no balance. There was no kicking back. It was full on participation with no breather at all. It was a commando meal. I could have cooked the meal myself and had more time to relax than I did here.

Let's go RIDE RIDES!
