Last night I was in DL trying to decide on a series from which I would pick a box as a gift for my son. As I was looking over the series, there was a 20-something man with a small, square, black electronic thing - he was placing each box on top of it until he "found" what he was looking for. He packed up this thing and he and his girlfriend walked off, their boxes in hand. This seemed really suspicious so I informed a CM who looked surprised, but also had no clue what he could be doing. This is our first time purchasing vinylmations, but I do know that it is supposed to be a surprise and reading the codes ruins the chances for us unknowing people to get the "good" ones.

So, what was this thing and was the guy doing something un-Disney like?

There is ALWAYS going to be those people who ruin the 'magic' of Disney unfortunatly. Just to make a quick buck most likely. As well as the CM, I too haven't a clue as to what this thing could have been but it sounds as though it was pretty inconciderate and would only benifit himself and I am doubting he is a true collector. Why cant people just collect stuff to collect, always out to ruin the fun and make it harder on everyone else.

My guess would be a digital scale? Last time I was at DL I overheard a couple talking.. "It's the heaviest one, which one feels heavier to you?" talking about a certain series, but don't remember which one. Sad to see/hear it happening, especially on that level. Just a guess, and a first post :woohoo: haha

on a lighter note MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :santa:

I figure they are probably looking for a specific figure. One with extra parts (like Buzz's helmet or Woody's hat) would probably weigh a little more than a regular figure.

I have no clue.....but....I would have walked up and asked him what he was doing. lol

This happens alot. I saw it in WDW too! It's like with the mystery pins. I can't count how many times I have seen some of those ripped open. and I mean the bags on the inside, not the boxes.
