Has anyone ever been told that banking/borrowing has been suspended?

The member guide tells us that DVC reserves the right to do this.

No!

it also says that until the time when there was more banking than actually staying at the DVC resorts - now that is not likely to happen....

Allright, another thing to worry about. I guess I will sell my DVC and buy into Sunterra!

I'm going back to the cooking, crafting, and scrapping board now. They are much happier people.

Some folks just MUST have SOMETHING to worry about. I am a glass half full type of person. This one is stretching it a bit.

I wasn't worried! I just wondered if it has ever happened.

Lighten up.

Ahem.

:duck:

That clause will be needed near the end of our contracts, I'm not going to worry about it untill around 2040.

Personally, I don't find anything wrong with OneMoreTry asking this question. In fact, for someone new to DVC, I think it is a very good question.

I have only been a member for a couple of years, but I have not heard of banking or borrowing being suspended.

would it have been better if it where phrased like this...."Ilove DVC....can banking be suspended???.....oh and did i mention I love DVC...pixie dust.....pixie dust".

C'mon people it is discussion board, no need to belittle.

DVC on Mars! DVC on Mars!

The Sky is falling!:earseek:

As long as I have been a member, my banking/borrowing access have never been suspended.

Good question...I also wonder if it has ever been enacted during DVC's history.

:earsboy:

It has never been done. They won't do it without good reason -- something causes most everyone to start banking and borrowing into one year. Example where you could possibly see the two suspended: several years ago it looked possible that Orlando could be in the running for the 2008 Olympics; if something like that occurred you could possibly see a suspension of banking and borrowing.

In the history of DVC, there was probably never a time of more "excessive borrowing" than in 1999, when OKW owners were told that reservations booked with points borrowed from their 2000 use-year would be include the "park pass benefit" that was due to expire on 12/31/99.

Even during that time, the system was able to run smoothly...

Except for the end of the contract - as others have mentioned - I can't think of a scenario that would cause them to suspend banking/borrowing...
