It's not a fake email, I logged into ebay Directly.

I was suspended from ebay, not really sure why. The email they sent said Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

I obviously did something wrong, I emailed them to see what happened but they haven't answered yet. I've only used ebay twice before and this was the first time I tried to sell something. My question is am I banned from buying things on ebay? Thanks for any responses.

BTW, I'm a long time lurker;) first time poster:banana:

I would think so due to what I bolded.

I'm not sure. I haven't used eBay in years and have never been suspended. Sorry. :(

Try going directly to Ebay and logging in. There are a lot of spoof e-mails out there, trying to get your information, I get this same one all the time. If it's for real, it could be that you were trying to sell a prohibited item.

Before I put the item up I searched completed listings and there were plenty of the same item, also there are several active listings?

It's real, I went to myebay and the message was in my box.

Yep. This one is a popular email by hackers trying to get your info. They send you an email, you click on the link in the email, try to log-on to their version of "eBay" and it gets your account ID & Password, maybe even your paypal info.

Hope you didn't try to log in that way. If so, immediately type in the official eBay address, log in & change your password right away.

General rule is to NEVER, NEVER open or answer ANY mail from eBay or PayPal. I dodn't even answer the ones that say they are official because they list my ebay or PayPal account ID name in the emails. Who knows when those hackers will be able to do that when sending us emails. :sad2:

i got an e-mail like that a few months ago and i didn't even have an ebay account, my DH2B has one, but nothing is under my e-mail account. so it might not even be a real e-mail from ebay

I emailed ebay but in the meantime I don't want to miss out on this pin lot, is there any way I can bid on it? Or am I out of luck? Thanks so much.

I get them from banks as well. 5/3 bank and even chase. They all say "login to verify..... and all will be fine"
WHat you got is called phishing. They throw out the hook and see who bites.

MIkeeee

If you logged into 'my ebay' from their regular site and the message is in your message folder, it's legit.

The only thing I can think of is that you or someone else using your user name won an item and never paid for it. You can be suspended much easier when you have a very low feedback rating.

I guess all you can do is wait for their response as to why you were suspended. In the meantime, maybe you could get a friend or family member to bid on the pins for you?

I just joined last night. The 2 items I purchase about 2 years ago. ( Different username, email/home address and paypal/checking account) I don't see how someone could do that in 12 hours?

Did you go directly to eBay from the link in the EMAIL, or did you type in www.ebay.com and go that way. It is very easy to create a fake HTML webpage that looks like the REAL eBay messages webpage.

I went to ebay.com and when I tried to log in it said account suspended. Then I checked my messages and there we 3 messages saying my listing was canceled and one message saying my account was canceled.:confused3

Hmm, maybe in your listing you accidently used a word, company name, picture, link, or type of listing that is against eBay rules. Even though others listed the same exact thing, and may have used the same info, unless someone reports the listing, a lot of them slip by. One of your competitors may have reported your listing. :confused3

Ditto got the exact same email last week. Fortunately my phishing filter picked it up. I went to ebay directly through google and logged in and discovered it was false. They also sent emails that my paypal account was compromised, my credit card was used and purchases were made...again all false. If you logged in directly from your browser and not a link then your account has been compromised in some way.

Uh, no one else thinks this is strange?

A person claims to have been banned from eBay, and then, out of the blue, comes to the DIS to ask about it?

No other posts, except this?!?

Methinks I smell a troll.

Be careful, I think someone is trying to get someone here to buy they pin lot for them and "pay them back" later.
