Okay, I plan to try completely new things on this trip. And one of those things is Sushi.

Is there anywhere at WDW, that I can buy one peice of sushi, anykind it doesn't matter.

We will also be there during the F&W Festival if that helps.

#1) Tempura Kiku at Japan at Epcot. Thumbs up.
#2) Grocery store sushi at the Tommorowland Terrace (Noodle Station) Thumbs down.
#3) There are probably more offerings during Food & Wine around Japan.

It does matter what you try first. I just started eating sushi in the last couple years.

You may want to first start out with a roll. Rolls are yummy and a great way to begin. There are lots of different rolls. The california roll is yummy, contains avocado, crab (cooked), and cucumber. it is rolled inside of rice.

There are other rolls that contain raw fish.

I like salmon the best. Which is odd, since I don't care for cooked salmon. :confused3 but in sushi form it is quite yummy.

Shrimp is served cooked on white rice.

Wolfgang pucks downtown has a great sushi bar and you can aslo get sushi in the restaurant. The have a lovely rainbow roll, with different types of sushi rolled on the outside.

Kimono's at the Swan is a karaoke bar that serves AWESOME sushi!

If you are going to give sushi a try, make it an event. Try a few things. Look over the menus and see what appeals. Have fun planning and let us know what you decide.

Kimono's at the Swan has a sushi bar as well - sounds good to me...;)

We are searching for places also as my DD15 has fallen in love with sushi. Does anyone know if Tempura Kiku will be open during the work at the other Japanese restaurant? A CM at disney dining told me that it would be open but I thought I read here on the DIS that it would be closed also.

DH got samplers at the last F&W in JApan....

He said it was mediocre, didn't stop him from eating it all though!

I too had sushi for the first time a Disney over 15 years ago. It was at Kimonos in the Swan. Now I am hooked. I really like Kimonos atmosphere.

For sushi, based on your requirements I would recommend, Wolfgang Pucks Cafe, if you are seated in the main restaurant, they have a california roll and a rainbow roll on the appetizer part of the menu. The california roll is more or less cooked crab (psuedo crab, although this has changed throughout the years) and rice. The rainbow roll is various raw fish and rice. If you find you like some of it then you can ask for the sushi menu, otherwise you can order off the regular menu.

For a more "normal" sushi bar experience you can try Kimono's at the Swan, or the sushi bar a Bennihana's at the Hilton in downtown Disney.

Yuk, child why would you want sushi? Yuk. maybe we will not see you at WDW.

Besides Tempura Kiku, mentioned above, we've also had some good sushi at the Matsunoma Lounge located just next to Tempura Kiko. You can order sushi by the piece, along with beverages, and if you time it right you can watch Illuminations from the lounge. They dim the lights and pipe in the music. It is a slighly obstructed seat (due to the Japan emblem thingy) but if it's been a long day, it's a nice, cool place to take a break, and try some sushi.

I've had great sushi at the Matsunoma Lounge and we even had a nice view of Illuminations too!

My friend ordered sushi from Benihana (at the dtd hilton) and really enjoyed it.

There is also sushi at the Sunshine Seasons at The Land in EPCOT. It looks like grocery store sushi. I wouldn't reccommend it. But you can get it there. Maybe the days that I was there (3/31-4/8) it was just a bad week. Who knows. The rest of the food at Sunshine Seasons is good however.
