Sushi - WDW or off-site or not at all

To me, it is THAT much better... not just for the sushi, but for the atmosphere and ambiance as well. It's also nice that I can order in Japanese and be understood. Now, Mitsukoshi may or may not be THAT much better to you, but THAT is why we have opinions... - Mr. Abuboo

I understand that the atmosphere and language make it far more "authentic", but is the sushi better? Is the sashimi better prepared or more fresh?

I would assume if you speak Japanese, you are from Japan or have spent a lot of time there. I fall into neither category. So, please, educate me (us?).

I believe you misinterpreted my use of capitalization. I used it to emphasize the word. My intention was to try to find out if the sushi is far superior in Epcot than at WPC. I assume they both have the same seafood supplier, so they should be getting the same quality seasfood. Any differences in the actual food (not the location), would be those preparing it or the "recipe".

I am with Ted.
We ate at WPC last week after Cirque and my DH had the "Chef's Sushi Special". It came with two mini rolls (4 pieces each) made with real quality ingredients - we hate it when rolls are stuffed with imitation crab and mayo - that is not what we call sushi. And several slices of sashimi - some on rice and some on those dried glass noodles. The fish melted in our mouth. It was very, very fresh and tasty. He also got a bowl of Miso soup and Edame beans with the meal. We live on the west coast and eat sushi a lot. I cannot imagine WPC being considered a sub-standard place for sushi. Sorry, that's just MHO.

P.S. The only weird thing was that the menu listed the price as $15.95 and when it came we were saying what a bargain it was, there were so many pieces. But when the bill came, it was $25, which was actually a fair price.

My husband is Filipino and was born in Japan. He has lived in several different countries around the world. He prefers his sushi to come from people who speak Japanese. When we go out, I have him order. It sounds so much better coming out of his mouth than my midwest twist on it.

At risk of sounding ignorant. When I walk into WPC, I see Japanese men behind the sushi bar. I assume they speak Japanese. Although I have never quizzed them.
