Sushi Recomendations

I never have had sushi before but I am going to both Kona Cafe and California Grill and thought what better place to try sushi for the first time than Disney!! Most of the people I know that have had sushi before LOVE it so it is a definite must try but I just don't know what to get. What is your favorite sushi to order at Kona and California Grill or the best that you have heard of?

we eat sushi often, the best roll I have EVER had was at kona. I believe it was called the kamakazie roll. So yummy!

If you've never had sushi before, start with a Tuna roll. it's tuna surrounded by rice. You dip it in soy sauce. It's probably the blandest of the choices, and my favorite.

Or hit a local sushi place before you go, so that you're not "wasting" a WDW order on something you won't enjoy.

I think that, for someone who never had sushi before, this is a safe choice:

California Combination Roll
Jumbo Lump Crab, Avocado, Cucumber, Shrimp Tempura $24

It's cooked, so not as daunting as raw. Also not spicy, rather bland. If you are looking for spicy, other rolls might be better.

Of course if you are adventurous, anything on the menu would be good. Google images to get a better idea.

If you are just trying it for the first time you may want to go with Kona or Tokyo Dining as they are much cheaper than California Grill so if you don't like it you aren't out the money. As @Aliceacc recommended start with a basic tuna roll (or salmon) to see if you like that first. II'd steer away from the California rolls. While they are technically "sushi" there is nothing raw in them so you won't really know if you enjoy the raw fish or not. If you find you enjoy it then you can branch out from there. The dragon roll at California grill is our disney favorite.
