My husband is a HUGE sushi fan. I thought I read somewhere that sushi was offered at a lunch buffet one day on the DCL Wstern. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, what day it is offered? Thanks!

They offer sushi at the Seafood Buffet on Thursday on the Western. I also think it may be offered on Tuesday at the Asian Buffet but am not positive. (These are both lunch offerings.)

A word of caution. The sushi is limited and bland. If your husband likes nigiri sushi or the fancy maki sushi, he will be disappointed. At least that was what we found this past April and in previous cruise.

They had stone crab legs though......

It was definitely at the asian buffet as well (on the Wonder and the Magic, if I recall). I think there was a chef there that would make up some for you if you didn't like what was out there. DD likes plain tuna rolls, and they usually come spicy, so she had some made just for her.

I was also very disapointed with the sushi, maybe it was a bad suchi day, the rice was very overcooked and gummy....

sounds like he may have better luck with a pole off the verandah :teeth:

I was about to post the same warning--if he is a sushi fan he will be sorely disappointed with the offerings on the ship. They are not very good and are VERY limited.

Thanks for the tips. I'll warn him that it's not high quality. I'm sure he'll get his "real" sushi fix when we go to WDW after the cruise. He LOVES Matsunoma Lounge in Epcot. He thinks they have some of the best sushi he has ever tasted.

Another vote here for saying the sushi isn't very good. I recall rolls being available during the seafood buffet and as an appetizer one evening. The sushi I get at my local grocery store is better than that on DCL.

I suspect DCL's rolls are premade and possibly frozen during storage.

I would definitely say that they have been frozen - mine was mushy like it had just thawed out. Yek! I was very disappointed in the whole seafood buffet. My crab legs were also frozen. I ended mainly eating beef stroganoff when I went for seafood. It was a letdown (but I LOVED the cruise - this was a small letdown).
