We plan on trying some on our next trip and welcome reviews and recommendations including what to try....and what exactly it is!!!

It's kind of cumbersome to describe all the variations of sushi here - if you do a google search you will I'm sure find some tutorials on what is what.

As for you starting out, some really tame choices you might start with are a California Roll or a Shrimp Roll, which both are pretty basic and contain cooked seafood.

I'm not sure what you're tastes are but if you want to venture into the raw choices, Tuna has a very mild taste and would be a good starter there.

If you are happy with those, by all means get adventurous and try whatever looks/sounds good to you! Certainly you can ask for your server's recommendations as well - they always know what is best that day!

Enjoy!

My DH and I became sushi lovers about 2 year ago. Our favorites are eel and spicy crawfish. We always do the sushi rolls and get the "cooked" sushi. Have not been brave enough to step out of our comfort zone and try negri or others types.

I'm planning on getting my sushi snack at the Yakatori House in Japan at Epcot. It's a tame California roll and not a huge investment time or money wise. This is a CS place and the plate is around 5-7$. If I miss it there I'll try again at the Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD. Have not tried it there.

Vegetable to Tuna to Salmon to Eel was my progression.

I think that if you are going to move from a vegetable sushi to fish... There is no merit in having your seafood cooked. Unless you are the Meandering Mouse... who is apparently incapable of stomaching anything as nasty as Stitch's Great Escape to a Tuna Roll.

Feel free to indulge in Wasabi... I hear it does wonders for the humanic pheromones.

Could any one let me know what restaurant would be a good choice? My son loves Sushi and I might I just would not try it. I know shame on me. So a name of a restaurant that serves both sush and something else?

That's how I progressed too!

My youngest girls LOVE sushi! Their absolute favorite has carrot tempura and cucumber in the roll. Add some wasabi for me! YUM.

I recommend starting with anything vegetable and then venture to the shrimp or crab. Shrimp tempura and cucumber is a great combo too.

You only live once! Party like a Rock Star, that's what my girls tell me! party: party: party:

Hands down best sushi is from Wolfgang Puck's place in Downtown Disney. There is a sushi bar and sushi chefs make it to order. Very creative sushi specials daily.

Enjoy!!

:thumbsup2

First, get a california roll w/ crab meat inside. There's also a piece of cucumber maybe slice of carrot. Yum! Second, Sushi does not mean raw fish. It’s a style of cooking that is more centered around rice then fish. My experience has been that the raw to cooked fish dishes is about 50/50. The two sushi bars I have been to clearly mark which items are cooked and which aren’t.

see link I got info from http://ebergen.net/wordpress/index.php?p=17

Have fun trying sushi!

Hi there! And please tell your servers that you are new to sushi, they will be happy to suggest some things for you to try that aren't too far out of your comfort zone... we have a couple of sushi bars in SC and helping create new fans is the fun part of our job!

Spider roll is the best! It is basically soft shell crab, and let me tell you, if I could eat one thing the rest of my life, Spider Roll would be it.

I had never tried sushi before last January and got brave at Yakatori House in Japan (Epcot). I had the california roll, nothing too spicy, and it was wonderful, I can't wait to go back and try other types. This time I've made an ADR at California Grill as they seem to have a pretty good range and I'll be more adventurous this time,
have fun trying,
Claire xx

Everyone has given you good advice already on the sushi part of it but do be cautious of the wasabi. It's wonderful stuff but very very hot in large doses. If you're going to try it just start with a tiny dab and work your way to a comfortable level for you.

I've enjoyed sushi and some my-t-fine brews at the bar in Wolfgang Pucks across from the Virgin Megastore. I also enjoyed the sushi at the Matsu-No-Ma lounge at the Japan pavilion in Epcot. :earsboy:

one of the best spots to find great sushi in DW would be at the Japanese restaurant in Epcot. It is wonderful. Being a Sushi novice try a Dragon Roll/ Spider Roll/ and Shrimp Tempura. My DBF who is a expert loves Sprider Rolls/ Dragon Rolls/ Spicy Tuna and Eel.
A roll should consist of 4-6 little peices and then there is just a sushi peice which is 1. Try them out and let us know if you like it!:)

I have a rule: I don't eat sushi unless the ocean is less than one hour away. I've never eaten it at Disney, but I've loved much of the sushi and sashimi I've gotten in Honolulu...

You get eight peices for $6.99...they are so amazing, I'm absolutely addicted.

I've never had sushi at Wolfgang Pucks or CG, but they are next on my list...but when we are cruising through World Showcase, I always stop in to get some sushi in Japan!

Everyone has given great advice. I really just wanted to say sushi is so yummy oh and wasabi that is so good too. Thanks op now i want some.
