Survivor Thailand! (Possible Spoilers)

I noticed that too DisFan1.... hello! How tall is Ted? 6'4" or 6'5" and he must go 240 or so..... I can see why she hadn't noticed him. She must have meant on her team.... but still. I don't like Erin- I think all that silicone has migrated to her brain. As far as Brian's former "profession" I won't holdit against him- he doesn't do it anymore. Good for him for turning his life around! I like him.

I didn't see Ghandia on the Early Show but I KNEW she was lying from the beginning. When she said, "This happened to me before... I was raped." She may have been raped, but what happend with Ted was NOT a sexual assault. She's a nasty nasty person.

I hope Ken kicks Rob's butt!

Did anybody else hear Shii Ann say she was the only minority on the island What about Ted? Maybe she meant the only Asian??
I'm sure she meant on her team, since that comment came shortly after the chicken dinner, when she ate parts of the bird that everyone else thought were inedible.

However, based on past Survivor episodes, has anyone else thought that Shii Ann and Ted are good possibilities to be the final Survivor? After all, every winner to date has been what some people might consider a "minority." Survivor 1: A gay man. Survivor 2: a woman (I know...this is a stretch) Survivor 3: A Jewish man Survivor 4: A black woman. Think there is a trend going here?

I wish they would show us more of Penny, Jake and Erin. We know very little about them. They seem to concentrate on the same people every week. Ted, Rob, Shii Ann, Clay, etc. get all the camera time. The only time Erin seems to be on camera is when she is wearing her bikini top.

Yup, I noticed that after Africa.

I'm guessing Ted's going to win it because he's next in the pattern (male minority), though Shii Ann, being the first Asian (I think?) on the show, has a good chance too.

At least this group was smart enough to eat a rooster instead of a hen. Remember Africa? They were eating all the hens, then wondering why they weren't getting any eggs...duh.

You can tell most of them wren't raised anywhere that butchered their own chickens - the "parts" that Shi An were eating have the most iron and nutrients (well, except the neck) It made me think of my Grandma, she always liked those parts. I'm surprised they new enough to scald it to loosen the feathers.

Robb is an idiot, I hope he gets voted off soon. He thought the roasted grubs were stupid - they are also very high in protien - I wouldn't want to eat them raw, but roasted wouldn't bother me. I was so hoping Shi An would switch tribes. It was great that Chewing Gum won immunity, and got the tastiest food reward. The limeade would give them some vitamin C and help digestion, the nachos were somewhat more healthy than the burger and fries. The only thing is that the alcohol inthe margaritas could be slightly de-hydrating. Too bad Chewing Gum didn't get to take all the fish back to camp after the immunity challenge.

I watched the Early Show this morning. Stephanie said that she was ready to go when asked if she had thought that she was next. She said that she was not in it for the money but for the experience. She wanted to be a unique person for tv, not just one of the others and thought that she had been that. I don't recall her saying much about anyone else except that she had developed a good friendship with Jed and Robb. She said that the reason she did not sleep in the shelter was that it was hard and cold, that the sand was softer and she was able to put warm sand from around the fire in the spot that she slept.

Do you think that Brian and Ted have reallly formed an alliance or that maybe Brian is playing him? In an earlier post there was mention of two unlikely people forming an alliance. I wonder who?

Clay has it in for Jan. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he left before her?

Speaking of Jan.....did anyone else LOL when she did the "happy dance" after getting the tree mail about the auction? She reminded me a little of Granny on The Beverly Hillbillies whenever she heard the word "Tennessee."

In regards to the disappearing boat, does anyone think it was odd that the camera was showing the boat during the night while they were singing Christmas songs and then the next morning the boat was gone? Could it be that the boat had a little help disappearing otherwise why would they be filming the boat? They also made sure they panned in when Ted was tying it up.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

Interesting point, tiggerlover - I know they film tons of stuff, but why would they have zoomed in on Ted tying up the boat unless they knew in advance that the boat would have some "help" disappearing? Hmmmm.......

I can understand them filming the boat during the night while they were singing if one of the cameramen noticed that the boat might be slipping away. After all, the cameramen aren't allowed to have any kind of contact with the survivors, so they couldn't yell "hey, go get your boat before it's gone". But why would they have filmed Ted's knot unless they knew?

I noticed that, too, tiggerlover!

I don't know how many camera people they have at each camp filming - maybe they have so many and they are constantly trained on the Survivors and their surrounding area, that when Mark Burnett and crew head to the editing room, they all of that film to choose from.

Remember Survivor Australia, when the one tribe was a Tribal Council and the storm came and swept away their camp (Tina, Rodger, Colby,, Keith, etc.?) They caught all of that on tape, obviously a crew sticks around camp and films everything.

MaryJ, I laughed when I saw Jan dancing and yelling about the money. Everyone wanted to know what the note said! And she went on and on about the money. I did crack up over the things Clay was saying, especially, "No s***, Sherlock."

I don't know about Clay yet. He is funny. I'll give him that.

It crossed my mind too if the boat had a little help in becoming loose, tiggerlover. My husband and I discussed it. In fact, I turned to my husband and told him I would have pulled the boat up on shore rather than keep it in the water. He said he would've too. (Not "me" by myself --- but I would've suggested as a tribe we could push it out of the water.) I was surprised they kept it tied up like that. Why risk it? I'm pretty sure I would've thought of that. (I was wondering to myself after thinking about it, was I doing the Monday morning quarterback thing?) I think I would've wanted it out of the water.

I was surprised Ted didn't apologize for losing the boat, too. And Clay said the tribe would've been all over him if he had been responsible. Do you think that's true? I don't know about that.

I was surprised the tribe took it rather well, overall. That would've been hard to do. I would have really had to "put on a game face" for that one. But on the other hand, if you are tired and struggling, what's one more thing? It's hard to say how you would react.

Lilboo, you are more than welcome to come to my tribal council hall (soon to be in my back yard). ;) ;)

I already erased my tape of the show, but I think they were showing Ted tying up the boat, because of the conversation they were having..... not the tieing of the boat..... AND since the tieing of the boat was the main action, they filmed it..... I do remember thinking he wasnt doing a very good job of it... and why not pull the boat up on shore :eyeroll:

Ted should of been more sorry..... it was HIS fault.

And if memorie serves me they showed the fishing net from Soup Jai (lol) floating away also....

I didn't see the show, but this is about the strangness of them filming them tying up the boat.

Having taped a few self-made movies I have learned its better to take pictures of everything possible for longer than you think is really needed. You never know, as time goes on how the things that happened around you may affect things later in the filming project. And since this is "reality TV" it would be very hard to make up for it later in the show.

I just want to say that the comment was made by Robb that someone told him all girls from NYC are like Shi-Ann, WRONG! I don't lick my fingers when I eat!

You nailed it! And correct me if I am wrong but isn't she only 53? She looks so much older. We are only six years apart and I keep thinking, do I look that old?

I too thought there would be repercussions if Shii Ann or anyone else defected from the tribe. I didn't think anyone would take up that offer to switch voluntarily.

I love Jake and his quiet leadership role I wish they would show more of him. I like Penny and Ken too. I wonder what the big argument is about next week with Ken and Robb.

Sorry I am bumping this back up but I just got back from vacation and couldn't wait to add my two cents.

I like Shii Ann alot, but that comment the other night about "culturally different" or whatever kinda turned me off. Why is that making any difference and I've not noticed anyone bringing it up. Glo was right, I hate that crap too when race, culture, age anything comes into play.

I'm surprised that Jan is only 53! I'm in that age range and feel I look like I should for a baby boomer, but I think she looks MUCH older than any 53 years old.

Robb is as dumb as a wooden post....he needs to go....I guess they are saving him for a time when they need to vote someone off and don't want to lose a player who is actually contributing something worthwhile. Yikes, he is worse than a 2 year old....I just keep expecting him to say "duh" every other word.

I don't think Shi Aann meant it that way. What I think she was saying was how her cultural differences are effecting her position in the tribe. Her way of eating clearly disturbed everyone.I think she was thinking she needs to be more aware of the difference as not to annoy the others on her team and therefore prolonging her departure.I do not think she was crying racism or trying to use it as a crutch.

I definitely agree...couldn't have said it better.

I agree, RMD. I don't think she was playing the 'race card', I think she was just stating that what she thinks of as 'normal' in her family/culture, her tribemates think of as rude/weird....where that wouldn't be so at home for her.

Makes me think of the first time I brought my then-fiance home....in his family (& general community), everyone is quiet and mild-mannered.....you only raised your voice when you were really, really, really mad. In the immigrant culture where I grew up, we talk really loudly when we are making a point, and swing our hands and arms around a lot. He wanted to know why were were always 'yelling' at each other, and I was like, "Huh?" To me, it wasn't yelling. It was normal communication.

Another example is when I went out to dinner with my friend's very religious family. At my home, we always said grace at the table; but when we were in a restaurant, we did not. When the food was served, I picked up my fork and my friend laid a horrified hand on my arm--apparently they said a prayer before every meal, even in a restaurant, and his parents would've been mortified if I'd dug right in before that.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most of that tribe is very, very young. Because their life experiences are limited, anything different is just weird....instead of simply different.

I guess we can thank TV editing for how things come across too! I hope she is on the right track, cause right now, she is one of the deserving ones to win, IMHO.

We'll see what the next couple shows bring to light.
