Am I the only one who thought this was all way too coincidental? I mean as as soon as they found the immunity idol and said lets not tell FOA FOA, I said to dh- it doesn't matter, Russel will find one. As soon as it was planned that Laura was going to be voted off I said- she'll win immunity.
Don't get me wrong, I don't believe everything is planned out, Kelly was definitely surprised to be voted off, but I have to wonder why they didn't vote off one of the stronger men on the tribe at this point in the game
I don't think things are coincidental - it's all in the way they edit the footage and decide what to show us. They film the survivors all day long; I'm sure once they see who gets voted out, those are the pertinent scenes that make it to what we see on tv. I mean, I didn't even know which one was Kelly until last night - they never showed her. Once she started getting some airtime last night, I kind of figured they'd get rid of her.
And the Galu conversation on the beach, where Monica said they should plan just in case Russell finds another immunity idol and Dave convincing them that there's no way he'd find another one....they deliberately showed that clip right before showing us Russell finding another II. It's all in the editing....
Why is he so much worse than Johnny Fairplay? He lied about being in Hurricane Katrina and I think everyone agrees that they didn't like that, but other than that he's just a smart, strategic player. Oh ya, he also dumped out their water and burned their socks! That was in the very beginning though. Since then I think he has been playing a great game and I really don't think he's evil.
They all lie to some extent. But most people have enough of a conscience that they don't lie about "big" stuff, like somebody's grandmother dying or Katrina. I think that's why Johnny Fairplay and Russell's lies bother us so much. We've all seen them making alliances with others with absolutely no intention of sticking to the alliance.
For me, the most evil thing Russell did was dump the canteens and burn the socks. That's right up there with actually hurting someone. Whether he's done more nasty stuff like that or not, we don't know since the producers only show us what they want to.
I, too, hated Russell from the very beginning because of the water/socks issue, but I have to admit that he IS playing the game - he's finding the idols with no clues and conniving to get himself ahead. C'mon - it's season 19 of Survivor. Haven't these people been watching prior seasons to know that there is usually an idol hidden at camp somewhere? Kudos to Russell for taking the initiative to look for it, rather than wait for clues.
I started out rooting for Galu, but now I want to see Russell and Natalie in the final 2, with Natalie winning (only because of Russell and water/socks thing).
