Survivor Philippines**Sept 19**No Spoilers

I HATE players who get in the jury and moan that THEY are the better player and deserve to win. Noooo if you were the better player you would be in the final 2. The game is Out wit Out play Out last. If you are in the jury you didn't do those

Shut up and deal with the fact that you got got. Someone out played you and that's that

Totally agree with that statement. I also get annoyed when they people apologize to the jury members. I'm like, hey, I came here to win, and yea I had an alliance with you to help me get further in the game. When I didn't need you to get further in the game I voted you out. No hard feelings, trying to win some money here.

I also think if I couldn't make it to the finals, then I want to be the first jury person so I can enjoy all the benefits of Ponderosa. Speaking of which, this years videos suck! Aren't these guys going on any excursions like all the other Ponderosa peoples did?

If Malcom win immunity next week, what are the chances that he gives the hidden immunity idol away since it's the last tribal he can use it? Maybe Denise?

The smart play for Malcolm next week is to give the idol to Denise. They expect him to play it so they won't vote for him and may target Denise. So Denise and Malcolm vote for Abi, and if Mike, Lisa and Abby try blindsiding Denise it would backfire on them.

I think Lisa may be one of the first (or few) people to truly give the viewers such a clear picture of the inner battle between being true to yourself and trying to win a game of manipulation. Most people simply don't wear their heart on their sleeve like she does.

I don't really understand all the Lisa hate. Do I want to see her win? NO.

I don't think she's played the awful game some folks here think she has though. At least she tried to orchestrate some big moves to get herself further in the game. Personally I respect that more than the I'm not really thinking about the game, so as long as it's not me, just tell me how to vote and I'll continue to fly under the radar style of game play. Boring!

I will say I found it ironic that Lisa talked about God not taking sides in football games, etc. then told Skupin it must have been God's will that Malcolm stayed in the game. LOL

I think if Malcolm makes it to the final 3, or 2 if that happens, he's got the win in the bag, and deservedly so IMO.

I think you're mixing up two things - FUTR is a time-honoured strategy. It's an actual strategy, imo; it works, it's certainly won, either with a cover or alone.

The 'I'm not thinking about the game' I think is not a strategy, it's the git who is used as a pawn or ends up a swing and gets booted immediately thereafter because no one wants that, everyone else is there to play.

As Penner once pointed out - even if you're there 'for the experience' you're in the game regardless. The people actively playing, however, still get to have the experience.

Lisa to me is not at all FUTR or an 'experience' player, she's a wicked mess. There's little more irritating than what I agree is the hypocritical 'oh, I just want to vote with my heart... but I said something to those people I don't like so I couldn't possibly LIE, because I'm a Good Person, see, so I have to vote you out, sad face,' crap. Own it. She seems like she's trying to play by pretending she's just so forced to make moves (which don't even seem to be her moves, she's just wandering over to conversations all 'oooh, well ok.') because she's a Good Person when they're actually super dumb moves that don't look Good, but her entire scheme looks to be centered around preserving her image of herself (which I don't think is at all what she thinks it's coming off as). As Penner was attempting to point out to her in that lagoon conversation.

The people who think they're going to look like the underdogs or the good guys are very, very often sadly deluded because they're so dopey and such unpleasant people to begin with that they have no idea how they come off or how anyone else is or will.

I am hoping for Malcom to win the million. He sure is sitting in a great spot right now. Lisa just gets on my nerves.

Something is up with Malcolm. He was afraid that his brother would shoot his mouth off, (he just turned 21) and wreck it for him. What did he mean by that.
Was Malcolm worried that his brother would make an idiot of himself and then people wouldn't like Malcolm? or is Malcolm some Trust Fund Kid that applied and wanted to be on Survivor.

Maybe he's been telling everyone he has this dead, Survivor-loving grandmother... ;)

I don't hate lisa but I do find her crying about how the game is bigger than her and how she is not meant to play this game annoying. It's great that she tried to make big moves, I wish she would stand behind the moves she tried to make instead of crying and apologizing for trying to make big moves. malcolm and penner both told her they were not mad that she made moves against them but apparently that wasn't enough she wants someone to hold her hand and tell her that everything is going to be okay so she can get through the game.

Exactly!

Someone should tell Lisa to act like Blair would. Clearly that would make sense to her!

Oh I understand that FUTR is a strategy that can work. An arguement could be made that Sandra is among the best Survivor players ever, and that's her style of play. But she isn't on my list of favorite players, even if she has won twice. Like I said, I prefer players who aren't afraid to orchestrate big bold moves, but I'm looking at if from a what makes for the best entertainment perspective. Obviously those big moves can backfire on the players who made them, but they're sure fun to watch.

I was talking in terms of this season specifically, and since Carter was the only one left who I think could really be considered to be playing a FUTR style game, I connected his I'm not thinking about the game comment. Of course I'm not convinced he had any strategy at all, if he did I didn't find evidence of it in anything he said, so my bad for connecting him with an actual strategy that works, whether I respect it or not.

I find some of Lisa's histrionics annoying too, but I think her inner turmoil is genuine. I'm sure she has moments of sanity that get left on the cutting room floor. The producers have obviously decided to cast her as an emotional mess, so that's what we see. I'm willing to cut her more slack than many folks here are.

Oh, also MIG you know them I'm sure, just not by name maybe - Yul and Becky were on the racist season with Penner - Yul won that season, she and he were allies in the finals together.

Tom Weston is the grey-haired firefighter won like every individual immunity challenge in that season with Fairplay I think and the kook old girl scout Lil. He's the one killed the shark with his bare hands.

Mariano is Boston Rob, Eliza is that dark-haired girl looked like a meerkat and was all crafty. She was in Penner's other season and was aligned with him. She also tricked that guy with the long fluffy hair into believing a random stick was the idol when she rehid the stick where the clue had sent them.

James is the gravedigger from China (the season), Heidi is the disturbingly thin even before it started, dead-eyed blonde girl took off her clothes with Jenna Morasca when Jeff gave her peanut butter, the farmer was in the Ramber season, Tom? maybe? And Hogeboom (I may be spelling that wrong) is the NFL player who was hiding his identity except he got placed on the tribe with Danni, the sports broadcaster, who recognized him in .02 seconds - at which point he claimed he had the same first name and played football at the same college as that guy named Hogeboom but gee, that wasn't him, what a funny coincidence.

One of the funniest Survivor moments! Heidi is married to Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and lives near me.

Someone should tell Lisa to act like Blair would. Clearly that would make sense to her!

:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Now that Penner is gone, who I think is one of my all time faves, I am Team Malcolm!

Skupin has been a dumb nutter since Australia and clearly nothing has changed.

Just goes to show how much the game has changed since Season 2. Had he not fallen into the fire, I think he was the odds on favorite to win it all.

My bet is he keeps it unless he wins immunity (which is obviously a possibility). My money is on them crafting a challenge that suits Abi's strengths since they didn't boot her when they had the chance. Seems like that's how it always goes.

I want like, Survivor:random island, Smart vs. Dumb.

Penner, Yul, Becky, Mariano, Tom Weston, maybe that astronaut, he wasn't a good player but he wasn't dumb, Eliza.

vs.

Rupert (king of the that theoretical tribe), Skupin, that guy Eliza fooled into thinking a stick was the idol, James, that farmer guy no one could understand, "Fairplay," Heidi, Hogeboom, the list of possibilities is kind of endless.

Interesting idea. :thumbsup2 Although, pretty much everyone I know would put Boston Rob on the "dumb" tribe. I don't care how many times he's played & how good he's gotten at it, I just can't get past the way he talks :rotfl: I also think Farmer Tom from the African season (my favorite season BTW) is actually a pretty smart cookie, despite his wackiness and the way he talks.

I don't think he'd have come close. Colby/Tina played the hell out of that season and they're both fully capable of outwitting Skupin, imo. He's just clueless.

I agree he sounds like a doofus but Mariano is no dummy. Farmer Tom however, I disagree, heh. I remember that time on ... was it on A-S? ... when Mariano sized up the situation, then went over, cleanly and quickly instigated a fight between Farmer Tom and someone, Hatch? Lex? to his own benefit, then just stood back and watched.

C'mon, it'd be the best season ever - the first time a tribe was in actual danger of starvation. Not even from mismanagement, just from forgetting to feed themselves or something. :lmao: They'd have some brawn though so they'd lose every puzzle (and balance) challenge but might win something. ;)

IMO, Tina & Colby wouldn't have made the final 5. Skupin's tribe was in complete control of the game & they were a solid group. I think they'd have gone into the merge up 6-4 and Colby would have been the first one they eliminated. I see Skupin, Elizabeth, and Roger as the final 3. Roger loses the final challenge and then it's up to Skupin or Elizabeth. If Skupin goes to the end, he wins. If Elizabeth wins the final challenge, she takes Roger & then he probably wins for a combination of likeability & good survivor skills. But, once they lost Skupin, it was all over.

Oh I know, but it took 3 seasons for me to see Mariano as anything more than a dork. I had however forgotten about Farmer Tom being back a 2nd time & in retrospect I do recall him being pretty stupid that time around. Maybe it wasn't an act the first time after all :lmao:

Oh no, I like the idea generally speaking.:thumbsup2 I'm not a huge fan of "all star" seasons, but it's been a while since they've had one. And it would certainly be an interesting one :rotfl:

I don't remember that season that specifically but (obviously imo, as who knows what would have really happened) I think C/T could have worked Skupin. Roger and Elizabeth were an unbreakable pair but Skupin is pawn fodder wherever he may roam.

I didn't like him at all in his first season, I thought he was insufferable. In his second, I saw the light, heh. His THs were insightful (and oft hilarious); he was planning and thinking and manipulating and thinking moves and moves ahead and running it cooperatively in the pair. The whole thing with him and Lex was demonstrative of how smart he was and Lex wasn't, imo. My opinion totally turned and stayed that way - I thought he was equally crafty and smart on TAR. Tom, my opinion has not waivered. :lmao:

Yeah, I prefer the A-S season straight to the mix, I think, though FvF was entertaining. The only problem with my theoretical season is that we'd be subjected to Rupert again; seeing stuff like Mariano battling Tom Weston for immunities and the endless scheming might make up for it though.

See, I don't think anyone was really "playing the game" too much that season. They were still in the "don't starve" mode. And I got the impression Skupin's entire team was pretty loyal. Who knows though?

The season that irritated me was when Jenna Morasco won after basically begging to be sent home. I don't remember the name of the guy she was up against in the finals. A bit odd & nobody liked him. But, he destroyed everyone in the challenges and secured ALL the food. IMO, he should have won given the name of the game IS "Survivor". Jenna criticized him for not playing the game, but I don't recall her doing anything more than coattailing it.

Tom, my opinion has not waivered. :lmao:

We loved Farmer Tom in his first season. Was rooting for him to win it all, actually :)

We liked Rupert too - first time around anyway. I saw someone else mention how they liked him until he stole the shoes. That was actually the move that made us like him. His giant tantrum in FvF after receiving a vote soured us on him though.

I dunno, I think C/T were really playing, though the editing left a lot of their gameplay out - I feel like it seemed they tried to keep the whole FUTR cover pair thing a surprise more when the world was new. ;)

Morasca is awful. Have hated her every time she's played. Whining, useless horror. Was she in with Cesternino her first season? He's one of those players I kind of want to like but just meh. He's smart, he tries, but he just vaguely rubs me the wrong way. Wouldn't be upset if he'd ever won - certainly wanted him to beat Morasca, if I have their season correct (even if they were in a season together, heh, I hate her so I think I blocked it out ;) )

You liked Farmer Tom AND Rupert? Do you have a thing for large, unhygenic men who can be outwitted by a coconut husk? ;) At least you stopped liking Rupert!

I didn't like him much (the shoe thing I just thought was eyeroll worthy more than anything, with the 'I'm a pirate!!' idiocy - like, you realize Mark Burnett makes up these little themes, right? Like when Cao Boi was all on about the immunity idol being sacred. Dude. It was bought at Pier One as like a 'world' end table and they pulled the top off or it was made by the prop guy or whatever.) from the beginning but he got so progressively worse every moment on camera that by the time he came up with the brilliant 'let's dig a hole in the sand on a beach and live in it' plan I was kind of hoping Jerri would finally snap and actually off him in his sleep.

Yes, Cesternino was the other one in the final 3. He tried to cut a deal at the final challenge because he knew he was going to lose :lmao: The jury all said if he'd made the final 2 against either of the others they'd have all given him the money.

Just thought they were both kind of fun for a while. Everyone out there seems pretty unhygenic after a while :rotfl:

Side note: I didn't care for Penner prior to this season. I honestly don't remember him from years past. Did enjoy him this year, though he botched it in the end.

I wonder if there's a correlation - Penner has been my fave player since his first season, very early in it. Mariano is my second fave.

I absolutely despise Rupert, really dislike Farmer Tom.

I wonder if just in general there's some kind of split there - like people who like Rupert/Farmer Tom don't like Mariano and/or Penner and vice versa.

And sure, but most of them don't *start out* looking like they haven't bathed in a month. ;)
