Survivor: Pearl Islands *OFFICIAL THREAD*

I heard that also.

I'm happy that Rupert is staying for another week. I won't watch after he is gone. I just can't stand that Jon

After watching the previews for last night's show, I too thought Rupert would be gone, but obviously that didn't happen.
I bet Christa and Sandra discussed the pros and cons of voting every remaining member off, but Survivor chose to just show the conversation about Rupert. The fact that no rocks were put in his trough until the very end, shows they had no intention of getting Rupert off this week.
I really hope Rupert wins, but I'm sure the other tribe members realize they have no chance of winning against him and will eventually vote him off:(

I think Rupert deserves to win so that probably why he'll be voted off. KEEP WINNING RUPERT! I can't believe Crista and Sandra were talking about voting off Rupert this early. I mean if they want to win it might be necessary but why not wait and get rid of others first. Also, why is Morgan so lazy? They say Drake is a workaholic but how often do you see them doing something? NEVER! I think the should get rid of the rest of Morgan, then Jon, and Lillian, leaving Burton, Sandra, Crista, and Rupert as the final 4. I used to like Sandra and Crista but them trying to stab Rupert in the back last night made me want Rupert and Burton as the final 2.

Previews are designed to KEEP YOU WATCHING. If anyone thought Rupert was going to be voted off, knowing that he's the definite favorite, of COURSE you're going to watch! Previews for the rest of the show will probably include people plotting against Rupert, until he is either voted off or wins the game. :p

He's proven to be the best at whatever is thrown his way...ok, maybe except at holding his temper. I was actually worried that he would hit Jon a couple of weeks ago, and be tossed off the show for it. He threatens people, and they believe him. I like him a lot, and I think it's all part of the pirate thing that he's playing to the hilt, but I'm not sure I'd be happy about being afraid of someone else in the game.

Add me to the list of people who didn't "mind" Lil before, but CANNOT stand her now that she's back.

:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

I would rather swim naked in sewage than to see Lil and Burton in the Final Two. If Jon makes it to the Final 3 with them, my Survivor Days might be done.

Then again, I said that after Clay and Brian were in the Final 2 in Thailand. Don't you think the audience should have a say? Can't we vote too?

I just don't understand how Burton can *trust* Jon over Rupert when Jon was the one who backstabbed him and got him voted off?!? Rupert wasn't even AT the tribal consul where he was voted off. This better be some huge plan to get even with Jon and I hope Ruperts in on it with Burton because Survivor won't be the same with out Rupurt. Oh and I can't stand Lili!

I heard it plain as day!! My daughter couldn't figure out WHY Rupert would of given away his breakfast. I told her because he is playing the game honorably!

As soon as Rupert won the challenge and Jeff said he could give it away I was saying "give it away" "give it away." Not because it's a kind thing to do or it will win points with some in the game....simply because at THIS point in the game it is DANGEROUS to be away from camp. Seems like in previous Survivors the remainder of the tribe mates used that time to plot against the reward winner.

Okay, tulirose, got the Early Show transcript (I've started putting it into the TiVo, every week I almost forget to turn it on in the morning).

It was cute because Ryan was basically laughing the whole time. He would say something and just crack up, almost every sentence--a "what're ya' gonna do?" laugh.

ES: Ryan's sitting here looking at his flame getting snuffed out, he says, "Bummer."

Ryan: Yeah, I knew. The writing was on the wall. I mean, that was it.

ES: When Andrew got tossed last week, are they just going to to go through one by one by one--that's what it looks like. The Morgans are finished.

Ryan: Yeah, that's the way it looks. When Andrew left, I watched myself on tv. I was genuinely upset. He's a good buddy of mine. It went south.

ES: Now there's this whole thing with the outcasts, right? These people who were kicked off of the show, voted off at tribal council, then two come back on. Lil, who was from your tribe, and she is, she's the weapon. She's the fulcrum around which all this ends up revolving. And she--here's this sweet Boy Scout leader--she's gunning for you guys. You're dead meat out there.

Ryan: I think Lil's whole deal was, she got voted out by us before, so she had no reason to go with us--I don't blame her. I really don't blame her. I'm not happy with her, but I don't blame her. She did a strategic move and it was great by Survivor standards.

ES: Now early last night you tried to make a deal with Burton?

Ryan: I tried to work so many deals those last couple of days. I was like, "All right--we can do this. I think you're the next person to go." And I was trying to work my magic. And hey, Rupert really liked me, maybe I should have went up to him and said, "Hey, you might be one to--"

ES: Yeah, because when Rupert was over with you guys earlier in the show it looked like you guys had bonded a little bit.

R: Yeah, we got along. We got along really well. You know what, I really liked Rupert. He's a really genuinely nice guy. He was just kinda upset. He seemed like when he was at his tribe they disrespected him a little bit and I wasn't about to do that. I'm not that type of person.

ES: He seems to be--everybody, every week, that's what everybody talks about, is Rupert. And last night there were sort of rumblings of maybe a coup, maybe sort of a revolt against Rupert, but it certainly never materialized.

R: I actually, watching the show, I had no idea. I was like, "Whoa, that happened?" because you know, I got snuffed out right away. They were getting rid of me right away, but that's the way I thought it was going to go.

Caller: I wanted to know more about the strategy behind the Immunity Challenge. It seemed like an opportunity for you to get rid of the other team members or the other tribe but you didn't do that.

ES: They came right after you.

Ryan: Yeah--which Immunity Challenge was this--last night?

Caller: Yeah, last night. It seemed like you guys were killing each other off.

Ryan: Yeah, well, I had my coconuts filled up in the first couple of seconds I think and Jeff kind of laughed about it so--I don't know. I tried my hardest, I tried to manipulate, I tried to get the thing to go my way and it just didn't turn out that way.

ES: Because they went after you first.

Ryan: Oh, absolutely.

ES: You were dead.

Ryan: They hammered me. Those three days after Andrew left it was horrible.

Caller: My question is, when you were voted off and you became the first juror, where did you go, were you fed well, and what were your new living accommodations like?

Ryan: You actually go to a place and there's beds and it's a cold shower and you get hot meals and stuff like that. I actually gained quite a bit of weight in a couple of days once I came back--I gained like ten pounds. I inhaled food like it was going out of style.

Caller: What was your reasoning behind voting for Christa and were you under the impression that other players were going to be voting along with you that way?

Ryan: No, my whole thing with Christa that didn't get shown--I think me and her kind of got into it a little bit and she had made some comments toward me that I didn't like. In the heat of the moment I made a comment and, you know, oh well. You gotta live with it.

ES: Real quickly--some people have said they didn't feel like having those outcasts come back was a fair turn in the game. What did you think?

Ryan: I didn't think--the premise of Survivor is you go on the show, you get voted off, hey, that's it, you're done. The outcast tribe coming back, I was shocked. But, you know, Burnett always throws twists at you and that's why I signed up for the game. And Jeff, me and him actually got into a heated battle and it, oh well. It happened.

I was saying the same thing--every show they plot against the ones who leave camp for the rewards. I wouldn't leave for a few cinnamon rolls once I'd gotten that far (I hope not anyway!).

The car is a different story. Seems like most who win the car end up getting voted off--but of course then you still have the car.

A few thoughts about Ryan's interview.

I think it's interesting that he was apparently surprised about the plotting against Rupert. This hints that Rupert doesn't go next or he wouldn't have been so surprised. On the other hand, it could be that he would attribute it to Burton and Jon plotting, not Christa and Sandra.

Also, he was either very confused by the caller who asked about the strategy behind the Immunity Challenge or he was hiding something important. She was clearly asking why his own tribe went after him first, and he didn't seem to get that.

They also didn't address the issue of Darrah and Tijuana voting against him--again, interesting. Why not? Why didn't they ask his reaction on that and why didn't he mention it himself?

Had they already begun to plot the female alliance and he'd found out about it while on the jury so he wasn't surprised to see those votes? But why didn't the Early Show ask about it?

The one caller touched on it when she asked if he was under the impression others were voting Christa also, but he didn't take that opportunity to say anything.

He also mentions Rupert talking about the Drakes. But it seems like the most significant thing about Ryan's interview is that he didn't address some of the things going on--makes you wonder if they'll come into play later in an important way.

As for Lil--it's no wonder she breaks down. She has no ability to strategize. She's telling Burton to feed her what to do. She's seemingly willing to accept she'll be voted off last of the Morgans and that's okay. Is she really that out of her element in this game or a lot craftier than she's letting on?

Hey, did anyone (besides me) wonder why Granny Pants Lil and Burton didn't try to smuggle anything back for their tribe mates from their breakfast (coffee rolls, some fruit, anything)? In past years, all the other Survivors tried to bring a little something back for the team. When they weren't allowed to do so, they were explicitly told they could not bring the food back.

Were Burton and Lil just stupidly oblivious, they weren't allowed, or were they just rude?

I actually didn't notice that but come to think of it, they didn't bring anything back at all to the other surviviors. Hopefully it was because they weren't allowed to and not because they didn't want to.

I think they weren't allowed to bring the food back. Food is such a luxury to these people, I can't believe they didn't want to bring it back or even forgot to. I'm sure they were told they could not bring any back, IMHO:D

I think Christa and Sandra are aware that the three of them form a strong alliance and that can possibly carry them through to the end. Then the two of them can vote off Rupert, hoping to remain as the final two.

Jan was like that in Survivor Tailand. Absolutely clueless. I don't think Lil is acting. I honestly think she's naively placing her trust in Burton. And it might work, since I believe he will carry her as far as he can go. I believe his desire to be true to the outcasts.

Did you notice how the camera focused in on the table as they left, suggesting that they left something behind?

Yeah, I saw those strawberries right after I had said to my DH "Why aren't they taking any food back to camp?" I thought it was strange that in previous shows they have always talked about what was eaten while the two were together but no real mention of it was made tonight.

I'm also suprised that they didn't show a lot of the remaing tribe talking about voting off Lil and Burton since none of them were happy that people got to come back. As I was typing this, I just realized that the others may want to take Lil and Burton with them to the final 2 figuring that no one on the jury would vote for one of the Outcast members to win the $$$. It makes sense to think of it that way but I hope it doesn't happen because the jury members seem to base their votes on the strangest things.

Yep. Just like last weeks previews made the whole thing with the stingray look as if someone got hurt, when they were having fun with the "shocking" experience.

As for the meal reward challenges, in the past there have been some where the winner and guest could bring food back, and some where they were told they couldn't.
