Survivor: Palau...official Thread

everyone, IMO, hit the nail on the head.
Katie was a waste of space...her "game" WAS pathetic. Her "strategy" was to ride coat tails? and she's proud of herself for sticking to that?

whatever.

glad Tom won...but I can't believe Ian.

WAY TO GO TOM!!!! I'm so glad Tom won instead of whiny Katie. I'm on the fence about Ian - while I'm glad he valued his friendships more than money, he was a much better player than Katie - the final 2 should have been Tom and Ian. But, all in all, a much better season than the last one!!

Congrat's Tom!

He really deserved to win. He played the "best" game with as little "backstabbing" as possible. ;)

Katie was a total waste. She should count her blessings she's going home with $100k.

What a great season! The best in a long time! :goodvibes

I was so glad to see Tom win. I couldn't understand Katie and all her talk about how she played the game. I didn't realize that she played the game at all. And she never said a word when Ian was going to step down for her. I found that odd. I would have been like "Are you crazy? Are you sure that is something that you want to do?"
Also what about her whining at Tribal the night before when Jenn was trying to save her butt. About Ian is not even talking to me about my vote. Hello I am here also. She just always wanted it to be about her. So glad she didn't win. I don't even think she deserved the $100 that she got.

Ususally the person I DON'T want to win ends up winning so I was just cringing when Ian told Tom to take Katie. What was he thinking? I actually feel really sorry for him because as he was able to watch the season I'm sure it broke his heart to see the things Katie said when no one was around. He really trusted her and she just USED him.

Did you see that at the last immunity challenge she looked bored to tears until Ian said he wanted Tom to take her to the final two. She perked up really quick and got that annoying little self-satisfying smile on her face. Man I wanted to smack her!

My DVR had some kind of blip when recording so I saw when Jeff started reading the votes. Saw Janu's vote for Tom and Coby's vote for Katie then it just skipped to them starting the reunion show. :confused3 How did everyone else vote?

I loved Tom's anwsers to the jury in TC. He was not defensive, he plainly stated why he made the decisions he did, and treated everyone with respect.
I think Coby voted for Katie (which I think was the only one) because he was put off by Tom's "male attitude", he related more to Katie. But, it showed the kind of player he was to vote for her.
Also, when Ian asked why should you NOT win the $1,000,000...Katie should have said because you (IAN) are more deserving to be sitting here than me.

I didn't agree with Greg also, he told Tom he was "true" to his word and Tom was not.... was he not plotting on the boat with the girls to take them to the final two and oust Tom and Ian???? How can people act above reproach when they were doing the same thing. Do they not realize it was all taped!!!?

I was rooting for Tom and/or Ian. I dont think Ian should have stepped down. They all lied out there, its part of the game so he shouldnt be punished for that. However since Tom didnt even have a second thought about taking Ian with him, even though he was his biggest threat, I can see why he was so mad about it.
I think those 2 should have went in together. Katie should have been out of there. But atleast Ian got a corvette so I feel a little better that he got something cool.
Tom played hard and I do think he did deserve to win.

They didn't show them all. Just one for Tom, one for Katie (Coby's) and then 3 more for Tom. That was it.

I hope Ian gets a book deal or SOMETHING. I can't believe that he hasn't noticed by now that for all the times he did something to help Katie, she just let him, and no "thanks, Ian" either. Tough to get played so hard from someone he says he considered family. Obviously he should have known better. I am glad Tom won though, but he had to know he had it when he took Katie to the final two. Now my mature side will come out - Katie sucks.

Nope - and Katie was the BIGGEST baby out there. a selfish baby at that. she really doesn't deserve teh 100k she got.

oh - but I will say this about last night...I like how jeff grabbed the votes, walked out...and "walked right into" the finale. They didn't do that helicopter/motorcycle/cab/walking through NYC speil...so corny.

at least they got right down to business.

The stylists for the reunion show should be voted off!

We are used to seeing these people for weeks on end with no makeup or hair styling, then they come on the reunion show and are all dolled up and they look terrible. Katie looked atrocious, I didn't even recognize her. Even Steph, who I think is a very pretty girl, looked phony. This happens every year. I wish they would tone it down a bit.....

When Ian stepped off the post, and made the deal for Tom to take Katie, I told my DH, he is the dumbest player to ever play Survivor. Who would get THAT far, stay on a pole for almost 12 hours and then ask to be put in 3rd place?

Well, then we got to see Katie at the Final TC. My Dh asked if I still thought Ian was the dumbest. Katie was plain STUPID. And her meanness was still there. When Janu asked her for 3 adjectives that describe herself, Katie's refusal to answer the question was telling. Janu may have asked the question, but the 6 other jury members may have wanted to hear how she describes herself. I would never refuse to answer ANY jury member question. The jury may only get to ask one question, but they are there to listen to ALL the answers. I thought Katie came off as "I am better than all of you, because I am here" Some of the things she said, and how she said them, sounded very condescending. I do not know why Coby gave her his vote, maybe a sympathy vote? It was no surprise that Tom won with 6 votes.

OK< I cried last night when Coby showed the picture of his daughter, and surprised Janu with the news he named her Janu. :sunny:

They said on the Early Show today that Katie only got the one vote! I am glad Tom won, but agree with another poster, that I hope Ian gets something good from this. They let him say hi to his guests, he was allowed to being to the show and he chose to bring four kids he works with that are all in remission from childhood cancer. How cool is that, rather than family or friends, he thinks of the kids!!!

I saw that. What a great guy! Made me even madder he gave up his chances for katie the parasite.
I hope lots of great things come to him. He deserves it.

Ian's decision to drop out of the challenge was a sweet, misguided, youthful gesture.

Tom is older, wiser, more mature, and has a family of his own - he knows his real loyalty is with them, not a bunch of people he was known for a little more than a month.

Every season I am shocked that the Survivors are shocked that yep - people lie in this game. Hello! Have they not been watching the show!

But for most of these people, lying is fine, as long as nobody is lying to them!

Here are my thoughts on the final episode:

Tom: Whoo Hoo!! I am soooo happy he won. I think he was the most deserving winners ever. He was strong and smart and he played a pretty clean game.

Katie: She was the queen of the "lazy girls". Her strategy to align herself with 2 strong men was a good one, but it did not work out in her favor that both of them were more likeable than she was. I knew Tom was a shoe-in when Katie went with him. She put the nail in her coffin when she refused to answer questions. I was very surprised that Coby voted for one of the "lazy girls" over Tom after all the nasty things he said about them.

Ian: Arrrrrggggg! What a fool. 12 hours on a post and he gives it up so Katie could go up against Tom. Tom should buy him a "thank you" gift with his million. I think Ian's reputation was a bit tattered by then, but he would have given Tom a run for his money. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Did he even vote for Katie? I thought the sacrifice was for her, but now I'm thinking it was for Tom.

Jenn: I was starting to like Jenn toward the end. She was also a smart, strong player. She played a good game by laying low in Gregg's shadow. Once he was gone she stepped up and was right there with the men in the challenges. She was also very, very smart to let the Ian thing "slip" to Tom. It almost saved her butt. I liked Tom's answer to her question about respecting her as a player. He was right on when he said that he didn't see her game at all until the end.

Steph: Does anyone else think she looked better on the island? I was calling her "Hoochie-Mama Steph" with all the make-up and hair. Yuck.

Coby: OK. I admit it. I teared up when he showed the picture of his new daughter and that he named her "Janu". That was soooo sweet!!!

This was a really good season, I think I watched every single episode which is a first for me. It was also a good reality TV week for me, first Uchenna and Joyce in the Amazing Race and then Tom on Survivor :cool1:.

ITA... When Ian is a bit older and wiser he will realize how Tom played him like a violin after they had voted out Jen. Tom was smart enough and wise enough to see Ian's weakness, and Tom capitalized on that. Good grief! How needy is Ian???!!! He gives up a shot a million bucks to somehow maintain some kind of fairytale freindship with people he will never see again! In two hours time I went from digging Ian to think "what a dummy". Ian is going to be kicking himslef when he gets older and has more sense.

Note to Ian: DO NOT EVER PLAY POKER. YOU WILL LOSE.

Within the span of one week's time I saw the MOST satisfying conclusion to a reality show (Uchenna and Joyce win Amazing Race) and the LEAST satisfying (Survivor: Pulau). The Survivor season was good, but I really wish O would have not watched the finale.

I wasn;t surprised that Coby voted for Katie, he kept rolling his eyes when Tom talked. I wasn't surprised she only got one vote.

I think Ian, aside from being young, was completely losing it the last few days of the game. IMHO, when you get down to the end, it's every man (or woman!) for himself (or herself! ... sorry, a little Monty Python in there!). You know that. I can't believe Ian took himself out, but he has to live with himself, and he felt it was for the best for him. I don't think he'll ever regret it (well, maybe when he's looking at those student loan booklets). I think Tom did a great job of playing into Ian's youthfulness and insecurities. I also think, sometimes, when you have the family back home that you're playing for, it's easier to keep the eye on the prize, because you have someone you're winning for.

All that said, I think Ian's a great human being who will do well in life regardless. And he does have a cool car. I also thought Tom played an excellent game and deserved to win. I wish Ian had gotten second. Katie is just pathetic (oh, wait! Don't tell her THAT! She might cry!).

While Wanda was singing her Survivor song that she wrote for the reunion show, who else was thinking "Thank you Mark Burnett for the twist this season, in which you made it so that 2 people didn't even start the game."

Can you imagine having to live with THAT singing?

The whole neighborhood is going crazy....

WAY TO GO, TOM!!!!!!!!!!!!
