Richard Hatch - just on The Early Show
Has a new tattoo on his arm - looking like it is ready to bite the spot that real shark did in the show. Hatch says shark was on there for half an hour.
Sue incident - He "doesn't know" what happened. For some reason, he says, Sue stopped and came back towards him. They showed part of it, without sound. She was going to go one way and backed up and waited on a post for Rich to come her way and Kathy came from another direction causing a pileup. I do remember last night that at some point in this scene she said something to the effect that she has been waiting for this. They cut the scene before Hatch got too close to them.
Hatch also says he initially started the challenge dressed. His team mates encouraged him to strip saying that it would distract the other team so after he fell in the water, he did strip.
Strategy initially in first show was to run around naked because 1) It was 110 degrees and so much more comfortable and 2) he didn't think they would film him like that and so he would get much more private air time, which had happened. This time around, his strategy was not to be too different from the Hatch they all know and love otherwise people would wonder what he was up to. That is why, he says, he played arrogant and provider. It bothered him abit that interviewer suggested that he also played lazy.
Hatch went to tribal council that night "knowing" that Ethan was going.
Hatch said this time around was much harder. Three weeks seemed like six. It was suggested that perhaps he wasn't as "hungry" for the money this time and he agreed that it might be possible because he said to himself during show that he endured this and worked thru it first time around but perhaps he did not have that "hunger" enough to remain focused.
Hatch also really looked pretty darn good (can't believe I said that) but he had a radiance and glow about him. When interviewer stated how Hatch looks so happy, he responded something to the effect that life is good and then he DID say, I am in love. Interviewer did not pursue this topic and segment ended.
No telephone call-ins.
