Wow, I can't believe it's over already!

My DD13's dress rehearsal was Friday, recitals Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. On Friday... DD's strapless bra decided to head south while she was on stage doing her Jazz routine. Her face was... indescribable; I was sitting there in the audience chanting "leave it alone, leave it alone, leave it ALONE!" over and over... you couldn't really tell and it would have been completely unnoticed if it hadn't been for the horror-stricken look on her face and the "fixing" she was trying to do. She was VERY upset after that number; probably because her boyfriend was there. The three other numbers went off without a hitch, and boyfriend had a lot to say about her "little tap costume", earning hairy eyeballs from parents AND grandparents. ;)

So! Needless to say, recital night went off perfectly (Saturday morning we went and bought her a new bra with clear straps!); she was awesome, amazing, all that. She's the best in her group, yep, no doubt about it Of COURSE I'm not biased!! :rolleyes1

So if anyone's interested... we posted them to share on YouTube because they wouldn't fit on Photobucket. Unfortunately we only got the jazz and tap because my camera wouldn't hold much more than that (my parents' vacation pics were on there too).

Here's her tap routine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-q31f2Tv_A

DD sez: "thanks for looking!" :grouphug:

My son's recital is next Wed and Thurs. This is the first year for 2 days of recital. We are still in overdrive with rehersals, etc.

Ugggghhhhh. Costume problems and mistakes. As a parent I think we spend more time holding our breath and muttering comments like "Leave it alone" or "Get up and just keep going". Poor kids. It is such a stressful time for them.

My son's biggest concern is the stage. European stages are slanted forward to give the entire audience a better view. Makes the balance different. Everyone always manages to do a superb job no matter the snags. :thumbsup2 I am looking forward to next week.

I will definitely view the videos when I get home! This year is an off year for my DD's- no recitals!!!! Yay! Last year we had recital year for dance AND competition year for baton twirling. 2 DDs each with 1 tap and 1 ballet costume, 3 baton costumes and 1 modeling gown. PLUS all the shoes, hair accessories, tights and all that good stuff. Next year will be a recital year, 3 costumes for each DD (tap, ballet, jazz/hip hop)

Thx for sharing, I enjoyed watching both videos of your DD's recital :goodvibes! She really did a great job, dispite lil mishap. I know the hard work required and dedication the kids put into dance, not to mention the instructors and Mom, etc. :flower3:

Our DG's (9) is in her 5th yr of dance and alsolutely loves it :lovestruc! Her recital isn't for a few weeks, but every time we're together she has to show me all the routines...all 5 acts mind you....tap, ballet, jazz, pop and hip hop :). I can't wait to see her in all her colorful costumes performing and the smile on her cute little face. :goodvibes
