General question of what is the favorite "home away from home" resort. Comparsion based on quality of rooms, size of rooms, quality of restaurants at resort and quality and speed of WDW transportation from resort to parks and other resorts for meals and viewing. Appreciated any feedback.
Hope everyone here had a happy, safe and healthy Thanksgiving.

Hi Disney Greenhorn!

You know the answer to that question is as personal as the color of shoes that you have on - or the kind of vehicle you drive! You will get a mirade of responses - most claiming that the "home resort" of the writer is the best! And you know what? I agree with all of them. To me, I have visited Wilderness Lodge two times and other resorts at different times. When the Villas at Wilderness Lodge were introduced, it was a no-brainer for me and my family. That said, I profess that I have never been to any of the other DVC resorts and I am sure that those resorts mean the same thing to the owners there as the VWL mean to me. My family and I will be visiting our "home resort" for the first time since we became owners in exactly 24 days! And we can not wait!

I know this is not much help, but if you do a search on this board, you will see what I mean!

Good Luck!

And here's hoping you and yours are having a Wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend!

They all have something special to offer and none are a bad choice. OKW does have more space and is much more of a luxury condo set-up. You have the feeling of being away and enjoying the wildlife and scenery of the golf course while still being minutes away from any park (5 minutes to BWV). BWV and VWL offer more hotel-like amenities like room service and choice of restaurants. BWV is walking distance to Epcot and MGM. OKW and VWL require taking bus or boat transportation everywhere but the transportation is as good as at any other WDW resort. VWL is very close to MK and OKW is very close to DD, Typhoon Lagoon and MGM.

I have only stayed at two resorts the BW and VB, love them both. Vero is a great place too, totally different from staying near the parks.

Greenhorn,
Resort preferences are a hot topic on this board! It all depends on what you are looking for. OKW is beautiful golf course setting and more of a condo feel, slightly larger unit, VWL have a national parks lodge atmosphere, woodsy and very well themed for that style, quiet as well and a boat ride from MK. BWV are right in the action, walking distance to MGM and Epcot, lots of restaurants and activity- east coast, turn of the century boardwalk theme. So what is important to you? Convenience? quiet? theming? Re your 7 year old, how important is the pool? Because BWV and VWL have more theming in that regard- slides, etc. My only concern about VWL is if you are looking for that Florida "tropical" atmosphere, you are better off at OKW or BWV. Personally, we go to Disney for the variety of entertainment and activities, preferring the BW for its proximity to more attractions.

Like many posters to this forum, we have stayed at a number of resorts on property, but have only stayed at OKW once and enjoyed the room size and the condo-like feel, however, were disappointed at the small number of "extras" that the other DVC properties offer. IMHO, it just seemed that the other resorts and DVC properties had more of everything.

We are looking forward to staying at OKW in March and VWL in August.
