Survey on prospective ticket offerings for DVC members

Indeed they have as witnessed by Florida (and Southern California) annual passes.

I think having a survey of this type is a positive sign that there might be some changes ahead with regard to theme park admission discounts for DVC members.

I have never purchased an AP but might consider it with those discounts. I also agree with Dean and hope that they might offer discounts on more than one type of admission media.

Thanks for letting us know that they are looking into this for DVC members.

This is very good news (if it really happens). A 25% AP discount (and similiar discount for other ticket types) would be a very important first step in reducing the Disney cash cow attitude towards DVCers.

I agree Tinkmom- while taking the survey I thought it was interesting that they asked us to rank in preference which we would prefer. While I ranked an AP as #1, I ranked the 5,6,or 7 day PH as #2. It would not surprise me if they offered more then one kind of ticket- if they offer any at all. I had 2 trips to WDW within 3 months of each other. They were very specific about wanting to know what kind of ticket I had and used for both trips and whether or not I used someone else's left overtickets, or extra days left from my own pass on a second trip. To me, this is further evidence that they are really trying to get a grip on what kind of ticket is best to offer. They also asked several questions about the number of days you stayed and used on those tickets- and where you stayed for those visits. While this was a DVC survey- they listed ALL the WDW resorts and also asked if you stayed outside of the world.

I also agree that before we start inundating MS with our vision of what we think is fair, that we realize that this is only a survey- no decisions have been made of any kind as to whether they will even change what they offer now. It was not implied on the postcard that that is what they were doing at all. All it states on the postcard is that "You have been randomly selected to participate in our survey about potential tickets offered by WDW to DVC members." That's it. Nothing more.

I got a survey after my OKW stay last month. I thought it would be the usual, how was your stay questions. Instead it was about the use of early entry and which parks I attended on which days. Also, if I would be interested in the later close time for WDW guests, which was experimented last month (after my stay). Perhaps they are just surveying different aspects of WDW experiences. I willn't get my hopes up until they actually announce the discounts.

An alternative would be to have a seasonal pass discount or even just to offer the seasonal pass which is only currently available to Florida Residents. This might be used to even out usage instead of adjusting the points.

As for bothering MS, that's what they're there for, at least for the members. If putting pressure on them affects the outcome in a positive way, we should go for it. Just realize that it is my understanding that DIS is not to be used as a forum for a mass protest or the like.

Desperado, Scott Lish is the current supervisor of MS though Jackie was still there last I knew.

Predictably, DVC members will not all want or purchase the same type of admission media. There needs to be some variety that covers the spectrum. Plus, there's no reason that the discount has to be less on multiple choices vs a single one unless DVC and/or WDW feel they can drive most members to purchasing only one option by giving a large discount. IMO, they'd have to give a discount large enough that anyone would be nuts to buy something different. Something like a 30-40% discount on an AP or PAP; or even a 5 year pass for 40-50% of the current 5 year agregate cost. They really need to undercut the FL resident rates to make this workable as a single option. Of course they could do it with the LOS passes as well but it'd have to be likely half what it is now.

This makes me wonder if Disney has seen a drop in DVC park attendance and is finally taking it seriously, I hope so.

We had APs for two years, and made lots of trips. If WDW is checking the bills of DVC members after a stay, they would surely enjoy ours. We buy lots of pins, and love to eat out. But we let our APs expire, and haven't been back (except for one night for MVMCP) since last August. DD and I are going this August, and I bought 5 day PH's. How I would love to trade it in for an AP when we get there!

As it stands now, we probably won't make another major WDW trip for a couple or three years. Next summer, we are thinking of trading for a week on the Southern California coast, along with 2-3 nights at the Grand Californian for DL's 50th. And the year after, possibly another cruise. Think WDW will miss our money? I guess DL will get some of it, LOL!

If we got a nice discount on APs, as is being discussed, we'd buy them. And then we'd have to go back to FL and spend more money.

So, if we are typical, then I guess MS has got to notice something. Hoping they send us a survey.

This sounds great! Appears DVC is moving in the right direction...hope it leads to some admission perks for us...:Pinkbounc

I wonder if they are thinking discounts for the specific DVC members (i.e. the deeded members) or if we could just buy them for anyone at that price?

I would think the latter would be a headache for them. You could have DVC members buying for non-DVC members etc.

And if it's the immediate household members, then those of you with kids at home would certainly benefit more than those of us without them who just take our grown kids and grandkids.

So I would prefer to see it available for the deeded members plus any guests we have checked in with us on the trip.

I guess those possibilities would all remain to be seen..............

Agreed. I'm only describing my own actions, not encouraging others.

Thanks Dean.

Ahhh..... don't be silly. Actually, I should be e-mailing that suggestion to the member satisfaction manager regardless if there is a survey or not. That's their job, to respond to our feedback. Believe me, I know, I have a similar type job and study these types of issues extensively. Don't give it a second thought, you posted some great news.

save $100.00 (25% again) off AP- which would bring the cost of it down to $279.00 - THIS IS THE ONE I VOTED FOR!!

I'm confused. I thought an AP is now
$403.64 Adults (10 and older); $342.93 Children (3-9).

At $100 off that would put it more than $279?

Th AP is a wonderful luxury that we really came to enjoy. We had lots of trips this year and it was well worth the money. As we settle back into our "twice a year" routine, however, the AP does seem a bit expensive. I bet there are LOTS of DVC members who, like my family, visit just enough days to put them at that "break even point" (where an AP starts ot save you oney) and therefore don't always want an AP. If it was disounted, however, I would always want to get an AP. It gives you so much flexibility on entering the parks, just for a meal or parade -- we've gotten spoiled! ANd it definitely caused us to spend more food dollars in the parks as opposed to offsite at the Crossings.

Discounted AP's would definitely be a huge perk for us. We certainly would buy them every year and spend more time at the parks instead of outside Disney. Maybe Disney is finally listening to us here.

I have no problems with conveying to Disney suggestions or feedback in a logical, educated way. I do think it unwise to start firing off emails based on very skeletal references to some items in a survey which you read about on a forum. Not really knowing what the situation is, and using bare bones info and speculation as a basis for contacting Disney at this point would seem to be totally ineffective as you have no credibility -- you have no real idea WHAT they are looking for, or to do. You have no idea if or what type of "pressure" might be effective. Just seems annoying to them and non-productive for you.

Personally, I like to have a clue before I initiate that sort of contact, because I don't want to waste my time or the person on the other end's time.

Sorry but that's absolute nonsense. Letting DVC know I would like to see discounts on PH passes is a very reasonable request. Frankly, it's part of my responsibility as a customer to communicate these interests to DVC. I really should have been doing it for a long time now instead of letting this forum provide a promt for me.

Given the management references I've studied regarding Disney management practices, they do not consider customer feedback annoying.

We would vote for AP discount in a heartbeat!!
One reason, DH likes to get his money's worth, so we go back several (2-3) times in one year so we can use them!! (I know, it is just a trick on my part to go back more often!!)
Second reason, I like having the AP's because Dh often plays golf while we are there and doesn't spend as much time in the parks as I do. So when he does go to the parks, it seems more economical! i.e, not "wasting" a day on a PH or UPH.
Oct. 02 we got AP's for the first time. Went three times in that year's time. Oct. 03 - 0ct 04 haven't been to WDW, did go on the cruise!! Oct. 04 - Oct 05, I've got three trips planned. Would love to save a bit of money on the passes in Oct. 04

Another vote for AP discounts and

Keeping my fingers crossed also!

In away I agree. However, DVC opened up the can of worms by sending out the surveys. Plus this is an area where discussion takes place regularly anyway on all DVC forums and betweeen DVC MS and members. And I really am not nearly as concerned with what they want or are looking for as with what the members want/need. While I do respect Pete's wishes on the uses of this forum, I'd love a letter/email writing campaign to DVC on this matter. I am all in favor of personally writing and telling them that I hear they are doing a survey, here's what I want.

What I am afraid of is that they will read these boards and see the 1 or 2 people that want a small discount on LOS and figure "great, that is what they want"!

I think I may email them and let them know what my wishes are.

I just cannot take another small, insignificant bone like they have offered us in the past.
