Survey: Likes, Dislikes, Wishes for DVC

If you had the opportunity to share your dislikes or likes or wishes for the future of DVC to someone that could make a difference, what would you share.

So give me your three things you really like, appreciate.

And give me three you don't.

Or you can give me your three wishes for the future.

Please give serious thought to what you would share. You can share likes, dislikes or wishes or all three.

Some of mine are, I dislike the change to banking and when things change that affect all the membership I would appreciate knowing why it was changed. Maybe I would understand if it was explained.

I like the new additions to SSR. I don't like the buses being overcrowed by people parking at DD to avoid paying to park.

I don't like the rehab at OKW. The bathrooms needed it worse than the furniture they redid. I think more input from the members would be nice.

I dislike Disney Files. I do not feel it serves the membership.

So please share. If I don't get any responses I will know that all this griping I see sometimes on here is just that. You don't have to share 3, it can be less, just did not want a huge list, which is why I said 3.

Likes:

1) I really like the limited housekeeping schedule, and prefer not having the housekeepers "invade our space" everyday.

2) I like the annual pass discount.

3) I like being treated like cash onsite guests, as far as charging, package delivery, theme park parking, busses, etc.

Dislikes:

1) More discounts would be appreciated, though I fully realize that perks are not part of what we purchased.

2) I dislike some of the items and textures chosen for the recent OKW rehab...and I'm sure every resort has a few "what were they thinking?!" type furnishings. Maybe getting more member feedback on a sample room would be a good idea.

3) And there are a lot of little things that have changed over the years. Though I fully understand the reasons they changed...doesn't mean I don't miss them. There are just too many members to provide some of those "little things" to everyone all the time.

Things I'd like to see in the future: AKA my impossible list.

A fully functional, accurate, foolproof online reservation system...but again, I just think there are way too many variables to program. Some folks are still going to HAVE to call, no matter what they try to do.

A way to give priority to those owners booking for their use, and the use of their non-compensated guests over owners booking rentals. Pie in the sky, but still on my wishlist.

A way for DVCers to get a small discount, even 10% off of any airfare to Orlando or other airports servicing the offsite resorts. Again, pie in the sky, but airlines could consider it a type of Frequent Flier program where they don't have to mess with flier miles.

I like or appreciate:
a) The flexibility in time of year, room size, resort that the DVC points system allows.

b) I like that DVC has/is building off-site locations (VB, HI, HHI ) so long as they are always done in equal or greater quality, uniqueness to WDW Deluxe resorts

c) I appreciate the fairness that DVC shows when the need is clear and present - things like refunding points and relocating guests say from VB when hurricanes threaten.

I don't like so much:
a) the point re-balancing which made weekdays less expensive and weekends more expensive in point usage

b) that you can't hedge against future increases in MF's by pre-paying and locking in a rate (ok, maybe that's a wish)

c) I think the point costs for DCL are too high (yes, I know this isn't within DVC's sole control)

Wishes for the future:
a) How 'bout free refillable mugs for life for DVC members?

b) A carribean DVC resort

c) DVC discount on MYW tickets, not just AP's

d) I could go on and on here...but you asked for a short list!

Relaxing at OKW especially sitting on the porch reading
Breakfast at Grand Floridan Cafe with a DVC discount
Two mountains on my logo (never got the three mountain logo in my years of ownership- missed out on the third mountain)

Dislike:
No mountains on my logo
Too much building
Disney Files

Wishes for the Future:
Raising the price of resales because if I move to Montana, I probably won't be going back to WDW and we're going to sell.
"Tiered membership" doesn't affect us negatively
More comfortable sleeper sofas at OKW.

I read, and re-read....I expected to find on your Dislike's list...

Nah, don't drink DVC Kool-aid any more.

I will add to my dislikes: Renovations on the cheap at OKW, no DVC resort specific items for purchase or at least get decent t-shirts, the "fruit salad" at Olivia's (it really is not that good), OKW bus stop at Epcot (way too far away), parking at BWV (allow guests staying at the resort only past the guard shack - everyone else parks across the street).

Add to my likes: boat ride to DTD from OKW, bus stop at MK (but drop us off at that one and not Pop or All Stars when we arrive), CMs at MS (always had nice ones), generally CMs at all DVC resort (always find nice ones), Vacation Magic (I miss it), housekeepers are always great as are maintenance staff.

Wishes: That they will expand the drink machines from All Stars Sports to all the resorts. Should stop the griping about "forever" mugs. That Disney wouldn't give in to those who are doing stuff against the rules and they don't stop them (line cutting, taking over a pool at a resort with people who aren't staying at the resort - ala South Point pool), enforcing said rules or get rid of them (you can only engineer out so much), making guests who damage the villas pay for said damage, checking out the villas before marking them ready for the next guest, make occupancy fixed at the resorts (if they have sleeping spaces for five, they sleep five; if they have sleeping spaces for four, they sleep four; etc), don't call that deacon's bench at BWV dedicated studio a "daybed".

I like:
taking vacations that I would never have been able to without DVC.
size of OKW rooms.

I don't like:
yearly MFs.

Wishes for the future:
any new resort have the room sizes of OKW rooms.
more discounts.
Castaway Cay DVC.

Likes:
1. Annual pass discount
2. Evening out the weeknight/weekend points
3. OKW for it's unit sizes and low point schedules

Dislikes:
1. The layout of the non-OKW/DVC units
2. The way DVC allows people who complain to get credits for things they shouldn't be getting credits for.
3. That DVC doesn't charge people when they destroy things or self extend past the check out time.

Suggestions:
1. Charge people who self extend or stay past the check-out time the daily CRO cost of that unit.

2. Stop taking requests of any kind. If you can't request, you wont have a specific expectation to complain about.

3. Dump RCI and go back to II.

Likes
The feeling that I'm home when I'm using our DVC. It doesn't really matter which resort, I've had very good experiences in each one I've stayed at.
The annual pass discount.
The 1 bedrooms with the 2 baths and the sleeper chair.

Dislikes
The inability to book a specific area in SSR.
The $95 fee for booking Disney properties.
The fact that all 1 bedrooms have a king bed, I would like 2 queens in some.

Wishes for the future
Better point charts for DCL cruises.
A Caribbean DVC resort.
A reduction in VB MFs.

Likes:
Flexibility in room sizes and banking and borrowing
"Welcome Home"
Not getting housekeeping every day. Some mornings we just want to get out of the room and not worrying about what the room looks like is nice. I am anal about keeping a clean house, but on vacation, even I need a break.

Dislikes:
No discount on park tickets except AP. Even just 10%? Please?
DCL points - way too high to use.
I wish more of the resorts had dedicated 2 bdrm. I know it is silly, but as a family of 6 it is important to us. Sleeper sofas are just not that comfortable!

Wishes:
Love the mug idea. Why can't there be a special DVC mug that you get and can then get refills for life?
Be able to buy TIW without AP.
1 universal FP per person per day at check in.

Very interesting responses especially the wish list. Many are probably not attainable at all, because of outside factors.

Hard to reduce dues at VB due to insurance and taxes. Basically comes with the property.

Tickets and such have to be negotiated with the Ticket division. I would not imagine they would do anything with Universal.

1 Flexibility of points and places to use them
2 Having DVCs in other than WDW locations (Aulani!!)
3 Being treated at least like a cash guest on site and in the parks

1 Disneyfiles does nothing for me -
2 I would like a few more Welcome Homes at a DVC resort
3 More DVC merchandise (I can't find a darn shirt to buy!! - you'd think they want the advertisement!!) All I have is my DVC beach bag I got when I signed up

• The all to common unilateral decisions they make w/o feed back from the owners.
• Not listening to the owners when we have a concern and in many cases managers showing no concern or an attempt to fix the problem
• Not making sure the rooms and buildings are clean and well maintained

• Fixing the dislikes!!!!
• End of the fiscal year audit, showing where the maintenance fee money actually went

DVC is supposed to be luxury accommodations thus rooms/villas should reflect this.

A few of the things I really appreciate:
Being part of a community (DVC members) who converse with one another.
Flexibility of points.
Variety of resorts/places in which to vacation.
Not getting housekeeping every day.
The friendliness of the cast members working in and around the resorts.

Dislikes:
Disneyfiles – seems to be a waste of money.
The thermostats at OKW (I have not stayed in other DVC resorts in the summer so I do not know if they have the same issues of disengaging during the night).
The OKW remuddling.
The size of the newer villas. It seems that either the rooms are getting smaller or the furniture is getting bigger – or maybe I am getting bigger.
The quiet pools NOT being quiet after 10 p.m.

My wishes (you did not say they had to be reasonable):
Thermostats in the rooms that do not turn off the AC during the night.
Rooms/villas the size of OKW.
Quality, sturdy furniture, etc (hard and soft goods) in the villas (pay up front or pay more in the long run with repairs/replacements).
Forever refillable mugs for DVC members.
Discounts on all table and counter meals.
Counter meal service at all DVC resorts (AKV-K, etc).

Likes: I love the space a 2 bedroom villa gives my big family and couldn't imagine staying in a regular hotel room again. I like the ability to bank and borrow points. I like that we can rent one time use points (even though I haven't done it lol) , I LOVE having a washer/dryer, I like the AP discount, I like I always have another trip on the horizon. I like the various DVC discounts available for recreation, tours etc.

Dislikes: I don't like that the member cruise is right after the school year starts, we'll never get to go. I'd like a little more housekeeping throughout our stay. We didn't get trash and towel service on our last visit. yuck I don't like how on the member website it clumps all of my points together rather than list them by resort.

Wishes: I'd like to be able to make points reservations online. But it may lead me to tinkering with my plans worse than I already do. Possibly a payment plan for the AP.

likes:
- BWVs in general (i doubt we would own if it weren't for the BWVs - our SSR points are a nice back-up, but we plan on selling off our BCV points for more BWV)
- BW view costing the same as pool/garden view
- AP discount
- (very important) flexibility of point system. type of villa, vaca frequency, and time of year have all changed in the 12+ years we've owned. DVC allows us to use our points to fit our current needs and wants.
- the value that we have gotten out of our DVC by buying so many years ago. previously, even with CM 50% discount, we spent minimum $5000 on vacations (deluxe resorts). now we just pay airfare and rental car - about $500-$1K total for each 10-14 day vacation.
dislikes/would like to see:
- no DVC resort specific merchandise (we bought every single BWV item available, some in multiples....except for a couple of t-shirts). now we don't buy any souveniers at all.
- disney files - just too silly. don't get me started on our tacky deevey cee "mascot"
- making the non-themed pools more tranquil - no music (multiple times in may, as most guests were trying to nap, read, etc, a woman blasted her music thru mini speakers), putting up posting to request low noise levels, including no cel phones, no yelling/screaming....basically citing common courtesy to keep the area more "quiet"
- no one to help when MS is closed, and there is a problem with reservation. front desk will blame MS, but the guest has no immediate recourse (as with reservations not linked, dining plan problems, etc). they need to get the 2 systems linked so the resort can resolve and/or explain issues easily.

of course, discounts on MYW tix would be nice. maybe a larger discount on MYW passes with purchase of an AP......

1. OKW GV's
2. My DVC special balcony views, SSR DTD View, Jambo Savanah View & really, any OKW 2br balcony view.
3. The ability to pay my dues monthly!

Dislikes:

1. The two point reallocations back to back, obviously not in my favor!
2. The $95 fee to book a Disney hotel like the Grand Floridian! Yes, not the best use of points but.....
3. Cheap refurbs and the loss of resort theming to save a penny!

Wishes:

1. That Disney didn't black out all of summer for Florida Resident tickets that coincide with my DVC value season points!
2. Disney, please bring back some of the old Disney Dining magic!
3. More thorough housekeeping and along with that, a more considerate use of the villas's by some of those who use them!
