Does anyone know of any special deals on meals at the local eateries along Harbor? Like kids eat free, etc? Any firsthand knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Feeding 4 kiddie age 4-17 won't be cheap....

Check the Denny's and IHOP websites, I believe they have some sort of deals for kids 12 and under but don't quote me on that. But most of the other restaurants are more high end like tony roma's and outback, and I don't remember any kids deals there.

If you sign up for Millie's and Mimi's Cafe e-mails, they send coupons all the time. Before we went, Millie's had a buy one and get one adult entree free (one per check). Also this site has some coupons:

We were actually in sticker shock with IHOP'S prices. For 6 of us, it cost $99. My boys 11, 11, and 13 don't do kids meals and they just wanted a waffle or pancakes. It only came as a meal with a bunch of other stuff and most meals were $13 plus the cost of drinks. We don't usually eat at IHOP, so maybe that is normal, but for breakfast food, that is crazy.

I dont really like Millie's but Mimi's is the bomb and I would totally recommend you sign up with them..im always getting coupons for b1g1f breakfast/lunch/dinner...sometimes i get a free dessert or free muffins...love it

the reason IHOP is so expensive is due to the fact that its right there by DL...Dennys, Ihop, McD's...all of those places jack their prices up because they know they are sitting on a goldmine with their locations....

Let me chime in on the greatness that is the Mimi's club. You want to sign up within something like 10 days of your trip, though, or the first coupon you get (which I think is usually a free lunch/dinner) will expire before you get there. There are other threads on this board if you search.

They also have family meals to go. With a big family, you will probably need to add several side items (or get two, if your older kids are big eaters). But it's nice to know if you just want to eat in your hotel room, there is a decent option.

Also, there's a Subway in a strip mall at the corner of Harbor and Katella. When I've been there, they weren't participating in the $5 footlong promotion, but the prices didn't seem that out of line from Subway at home.

And, avoid Captain Kidd's!

A few link to surrounding restaurants:

California Pizza Kitchen (20% off)

(Check closer to travel date for most recent coupon. This one is expiring end of August.)

DTD: Catal, Naples and Tortilla Jo’s
http://www.patinagroup.com/joinus.php
($30 coupon within 60 days of your birthday. Must be over 21.)

DTD: La Brea Bakery (10% off), Rainforest Cafe ($5 off) and Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (10% off)

Hope this helps. Have fun planning!

For cheap and good, head to OC poultry....I think it's on ball? You'll need to drive. Twelve inch sandwiches for $4!

If you join whatever the Rainforest Cafe's membership is, they send coupons for $0.99 kids meals. I haven't done it yet since we go in solely for the atmosphere and the ridiculous cake, but have seen a lot of people recommend it.

Buca di Beppo has an e-mail list you can sign up for and I get coupons for them frequently. They tend to be timed (good for 2 weeks or so after the e-mail), and I never seem to be in Anaheim right after I get one. One of these days ...;)

Is there anywhere nearby to print off a coupon for Mimi's Cafe? We will be on DCL first and then we are doing DL/DCA so the coupon will expire if I print it off before we leave.

IHOP does have a kids eat free after 4pm. Prices are a bit high, but you get to eat in A/C. I think it was around $12-$14 for dinner for my niece and I with drinks.

Just be sure to check out the locations that the IHOP deals are good at. Many times the deals are only for certain locations. Captain Kidds has a printable coupon for breakfast here. Our family liked it. I also have been buying gift cards from ABC gift cards and Monster Gift cards discounted to places I know we will go (Denny's, McDonalds, Ihop, Rainforest, etc). Most have free shipping.

The McDonald's across the street has some sort of 10% off your meal coupon. It's not first class dining, but it's sure cheap!

I also read that the buffet in Anaheim Plaza Inn has kids eat free. Has good reviews from what I've seen. We also did the kids eat free at IHOP when we were there in 2010. I don't remember the prices, but we only had 1 kid eating.

you have to be the only person Ive ever seen that actually likes captain kidds:lmao:

I have 2 growing boys and a picky daughter and husband that eats a lot! While it wasn't 5 star by any stretch of the imagination, it was filling and not bad priced.

OP the Denny's on Harbor is priced just as any other Denny's is, they do not jack up their prices due to location. IHOP on the other hand does (ime).

Also, do NOT go to Captain Kidd's, it may say the buffet is cheap or kids eat free but trust me, the food is so disgusting it is barely edible. We went, DBF had the buffet, the food was all old and dried out, I had a salad, the lettuce was so old it was clear, the tomatoes were OK (cherry tomatoes), the cheese was OK, the cucumbers were dried out but I ate them anyway......it was very gross.

Check restaurant.com, you can get coupons there for some restaurants in the DLR area.

We must have hit it right, because I am extremely picky about that kind of thing, and it was fine for us. However, we only ate there one time. :confused3
