Surprising my Family in August!

I'm so excited. The last couple of months haven't been that great for the family, so my hubby and I decided to surprise the kids with a trip in August (we already had a trip scheduled for Feb 05). We didn't have a lot of points left, so hubby said to do it on the cheap--OKW studio, cheap airfare, taxi, etc. We said we'd surprise the kids (DD 8, DS 5, DS 1/1/2).

Well, hubby gets a surprise too! To my shock, VWL had a 1 bedroom available, so I booked it and paid cash for a couple of nights to make it work. And I'm going to book the Fl Tours limo instead of the van (additional $60).

I'm so excited that I'll get to surprise my hubby as well as the kids. Hubby's birthday is in August so it will be perfect. I had to dip into my secret savings I keep for emergencies, but all in all it seems worth it. I can't wait to see my hubby's face when he sees the limo and the one bedroom.

Just had to share--I know everyone here understands my excitement. My friends' response was "didn't you just go"

In fact, we're doing the same thing. Our Labor Day trip was booked completely on impulse only 4 months in advance. The kids don't even know about it yet.

We booked this trip because we really need some family time - just the four of us. Sure, we've had vacations over the last year or two, but they all included friends or extended family.

I reached the point in April, after a long, cold, sickly winter, when I finally said, "Enough! We're getting away by ourselves!"

I really can't wait to see the kids' expressions on the Friday we leave. I'll wake them up and say, "Nope, not going to school today - it's WDW instead."

Have great times, you all, on your extra trips. I've been sooo tempted to borrow points and try to get down for a Halloween party, but so far, I've resisted the temptation. The cruise is in November, and it's not like we have a money tree!

All right, now I really want to go back to DVC for a vacation. Went twice last year VB in May then VWL over New Year's. This year, my parents are staying (on us) at VWL in October (that was their Christmas gift last year!), so I shouldn't be bummed. Oh well, only a few more months until we can make our 7-month ressies (1st choice is HHI, then VB, then OKW).
