DH and I want to surprise the kids and spend two extra nights at an offsite hotel at the end of our Disney vacation. So, far I've checked out Sheraton Safari, Holiday Inn Sunspree, and Radisson Celebration. We have 2 night ressies at Nick Hotel but after reading the not so great reviews, I don't know what to do!

We'd like to stay in a kid friendly suite and we'd like a great pool. Any thoughts on the hotels I mentioned or any that I overlooked? I'd really appreciate everyone's opinions!

;)

nick hotel has gotten some pretty bad reviews.

so has Raddison celebration - but that is part of the problem - the Raddison Celebration and the Raddison in Kissimmee (not the same - have been treated as if they are the same).

so take those and check what they are calling it.

have the sheraton Safari been as bad?

what exactly are you looking for in a hotel?

and it also depends upon the amount of money.
the Hyatt Grand Cypress - has several pools and is pretty kid friendly - not like nick of course. but it shows movies and has a great pool.

I'd go for the Sheraton Safari. I think the rooms have a great decor and the pool area seems to be nice as well.

I have stayed at Sheraton Safari and the Sunspree The rooms at sheraton safari are nicer. With that being said the Sunspree has kid suites that give them there own space and tv....They also have allott more going on at the resort for kids and family's.I really thought the sunspree needed a coat of paint more than anything else. Both hotels had great customer service as far as i was concerned.Hope this helps.

Definately the Sheraton Safari. It is really nice and practically crawling distance from DTD. There is a Pizza hut right next door too, and an Olive Garden across the street.

:goodvibes Depending on how much your paying for the Nick Hotel....I'd say still stay there. We stayed there for one night at the end of an on-site Universal trip. My kids still talk about it. It really is fun, different and special for the kids. Our kids were so excited to tell their friends about it when they returned. Was it my favorite hotel? No. Did the cleanliness of the room leave a little to be desired? Yes. But it was about my kids, and their memories, and they only saw the positives. Just something to think about!

I second the poster who said to just keep your Nick Hotel ressies for the kids. They are only kids once, and *they* will LOVE being there! I would not spend the extra for the overpriced, bad buffet food, but the pools are super, the free shows are wonderful fun and my son was "lucky" enough to get slimed during one and he still raves about it. Even when we pulled up, he got out of the van and looked up with awe on his face saying, "I can't believe I am really here!" That was priceless to me. Go with your eyes open to the fact that this is not a 4 star hotel, but do go. They will be thrilled, and it really is not a bad hotel either.

Have fun, whatever you decide!

Mary

We are doing a trip o'round Orlando next July and we will stay at Nick for 3 nights (free as we have points). We have read all the reviews and we are going for the kids and don't have really high expectations for us. We are going for 4 nights at Marriott Horizons, 4 night at Vistana Villages, and 2 night at Universal Royal Pacific.

STAY AT NICK- this is the ultimate kids hotel, the pools are awesome, the rooms are great and mom and dad get a private room. My son has not stopped talking about the Nick Hotel since we stayed there over two years ago. Definitley get a two room kid suite. The food is not that great but there are sooo many choices nereby.

Thanks to everyone who responded! All of your info/advice was very helpful! We still haven't decided what we are doing! :confused3

I would stay at the Nick hotel too. Your kids are at the perfect age for it. We stayed a couple of years ago. I would not want to spend another week there but a couple days would be fun.

If you have never stayed at the Nick Hotel, I would say go for it for the two nights. (if your getting a good price) The kids will love it. We have stayed their twice when it was Nick and twice before that when it was HI Family Fun Suites. As previous posters said, your kids are the perfect age and will enjoy the experience. I am not sure if I missed it in your post but are you going during a busy time or an off time?

Also, love the Sheraton Safari too. Great Location. Think the kids would get a bigger kick out of Nick but would pick Sheraton second.
