surprising gifts

Did anyone give you a gift that surprised you? I mean maybe someone never gives the most thoughtful gifts or gives horrible gifts, but this year surprised you by giving you something that you could tell they put a lot of thought into picking it out just for you? Or maybe they gave you something that you just would have never expected this particular person to get you?

My grandma is usually hit or miss when it comes to giving gifts. One year she got me this beautiful horse throw blanket that I love. I have it folded over the couch as decoration because I think it is so pretty. That was probably the best gift she has ever given me. Last year she got me a journal, which would have been great...if I wrote alot, but I don't even keep a diary or anything. She also got me a National Geographic video about cats. I have a cat and I love cats, but I have never felt the urge to learn how they went from being wild to domesticated or how they are related to lions or tigers or whatever. I told her very nicely that I would never watch it and we should return it so she doesn't waste her money". Her reply was "Thats OK, I want to watch it." OK then. 1 year later, it is sitting in my room right next to the journal, both unopened and untouched. This year, however, she gave me a great gift! She got me Disney pajamas and matching slippers! I love pajamas and I oviously LOVE disney, so she did great on that one. She also got me a Disney hoodie! I told my mom that I wanted to get one when I go to Disney in February, so that was perfect! I love it!

I'm not returning one thing this year. Now, that's surprising!! (and ashamed to say, but a bit disappointing. I usually like the extra cash right after Christmas I get from returns. )

Nearly everything I got this year was surprising, in a good way!

DH, who rarely buys me actual Christmas gifts (he's famous for buying me something/taking me somewhere in July or whatever and calling it my Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday gift), totally surprised me with a diamond ring. He even presented it to me in a very romantic manner, telling me how lucky he is to have me and how he'd marry me all over again!

Dh for sure. We usually go for the practical type of gifts, if any at all. This year I recieved pajama grams, a gift card from Blockbusters, so I can pick out the movies I want to watch and the biggest gift was a diamond cross pendant on a stunning gold chain. I found it under the tree around the neck of a stuffed Minnie Mouse! I have become Dis obsessed since our first family trip last Dec, and it really floored me he gave me something so wonderful along with a Disney gift.

DH gave me a beautiful black leather jacket w/ a faux leopard lining... it fits me perfectly, and a beautiful pair of white and yellow gold diamond cut oval hoop earrings. Totally not like him at all!!
