Me and my husband have had a trip planned for September for quite some time now.. his 13 year old son has decided to come and live with us so he will be here for the trip. He knows about Disney but has no clue we will be going to Universal as well. .. He has never been to either. I want to do something similar to the "tinker bell gifts" but i want it to be stuff he will enjoy! any ideas on how to do some pretty cool gifts/surprises for a 13 year old boy??

I am thinking:
order a star war lanyard with star wars pins
(i think he will love trading)
maybe a mr. potato head, so we can go to once upon a toy?

and thats about as far as my list goes...
lol help please!?!

I just asked my 13 year old son and he said "maybe some pirate stuff, a tee shirt or if he likes video games like Pokemon, the Japanese store in Epcot has a lot of cool stuff."

My boys' loved DisneyQuest and Harry Potter at IOA last week. I believe gift cards would be perfect. Souvenirs are fantastic.

Check out Easter Disney in Pre-Trip Plans for more info.

I hope he has a great time. :)

My boys are 13 and 15, and a lot of the stuff I think would be neat would embarrass them, even my Aspie, who who is fairly indifferent to a lot of things that normally embarrass a teen boy.

A lanyard is a good idea, esp if it's one he will use at school. I might stick with HP for that one (Universal has some really neat ones), and HP tee shirts (Target had some nice ones in their young men's dept), unless he has a few Disney character / themes he's really into. Star Wars and Marvel come to mind, though Marvel has no Disney presence that I know of. A couple of gift cards are always a hit with my boys, and they enjoyed pin trading, although they were a lot younger the last time we were at WDW.

My 13 yo is still absolutely fascinated with glow stick things - he makes hats and ties and stuff with them every time there is a pep rally at school. You can pick them up at the dollar store or Michael's. A Disney hat might go over well - or even a fishing hat with pins on it. A cooling handkerchief for around his neck? A water bottle?

Those are all things that would go over well with my kids.

Thought of something else........you can get gift cards for the resort game room. A refillable mug might be good too.

My Mom and I took my twelve-year-old brother to Disney last year around this time. If he's anything like the little bro, get him something from the Japan store in EPCOT; Sonic, Pokemon, and anime is abound there! Star Wars stuff is definitely a major geek-out for many guys that age; I like the idea of a laynard/pin trading beginning for him. Anything Pirates will go over well with that crowd, too, I believe. If he's into HP or Marvel, then Universal seems to be the place to go; the merchandise for Harry potter is stellar, I hear.

Hope y'all have a magical time there! Mom and another little bro will be there in September, too! :cool1:

Thanks for all the ideas guys; they are great!
I'm really looking forward to bringing him on this trip. He lives in Nebraska now & we live in Georgia. He has decided he needs some man time with his daddy and wants to move in:D I just want this trip to be extra special for him !

It might be kind of cool to let the guys have their own thing together- maybe have them do a mini golf round at one of the Disney courses while you relax on the boardwalk (or do some single rider lines) and meet up afterwords. I know that when I was 13, having a special moment with my dad would have been awesome.

It also gives them a chance to catch up one on one and gives you a chance to run wild for an hour or two. :)
