Surprises at Disney??

Hello! I am leaving for WDW in 10 days!!

I was wondering if anyone has ideas for 'surprises' along the way for DD ages 7 and 5. They've never been and I'd like them to have something to surprise them with. We already have a CM planned with Cinderella they already know about. Thanks!

I'd also like small things to surprise them with in the car driving down 15 hours!!!!

I have gone to my local dollar store and bought some inexpensive items to give out herre and there.

I second Kimnscott. Go to your local Disney store and/or Walmart and buy "gifts" for your children. Light up wands/ spinny toys are VERY expensive at the parks but are great fun while waiting for fireworks.

How about every morning the little darlings wake up to a small gift and a note from a Disney character. For example, a pair of Mickey Mouse socks for each one with their own personal note from Mickey. Or a cute, inexpensive toy and a note for each from Minnie.

Don't forget about having a wake-up call from Mickey Mouse if you're staying in a Disney hotel. You just schedule a wake-up call the night before and then let your kids answer the phone the next morning. I don't have any kids and I did it just for fun to see what the characters say.

when we were kids my mom used to purchase some "goodies" from our local Disney Store prior to the trip. Once we arrived at WDW she would have us wait outside the hotel and say, "alright I am going to go check the room out make sure everything is ok, before we go inside. We were just happy to be in WDW so we never thought twice about it.

She'd go up with her suitcase and the bag of "goodies" inside and set it up on the table. Then she'd say, "all clear!" and we'd either go to the room, or to the parks and we'd come back later and see the "goodies" there.

we could NEVER figure out how it happened until we were near the ages of 14 LOL!!! she was just so smooth at it

Here are the surprises I have planned for my DD4 first trip to the World: (it may be a bit much, but she'll only have ONE "first" trip!)

Day of departure (for the plane): a princess sticker book

Upon arrival in our room at the Contempory: a letter from Mickey Mouse telling her how glad he is she's come to visit, that she will be his "guest of honor", and he can't wait to meet her at dinner tonight...we're eating at Chef Mickey's. Along with the letter will be a 50th Celebration Pal Mickey, a 50th Celebration Mickey guest of honor badge with her name on it, a pin that says, "My First Trip to WDW", a Mickey balloon, an autograph book, and a Minnie Mouse dress that she can wear to the dinner. I have most of this stuff already, but plan to make a quick stop at the gift shop when we get there.

Disney Girl Tea Party morning: she will wake up to find a personal invitation from Sleeping Beauty inviting her to a special tea party at 10:30 a.m. along with a Sleeping Beauty dress.

On the night we see Wishes: she will return to the room and find a note from Tink telling her goodnight (complete with pixie dust) and a new pair of Tink p.j.'s.

I also have a few Disney soaps and washcloths that will be left by "somebody" as a special treat.

I'll probably have a few more before we leave. Thinking about Ariel giving her a Little Mermaid swimsuit and beach towel on the morning we go to Blizzard Beach. I LOVE this part of the planning!!!

Along the way, pull into a suburban dentist's office and tell them they're all getting root canals before going to WDW.

How about counting down the days to WDW? I am collecting WDW items for DS that will count down the days to our trip. DH made a countdown for DS to mark off each morning. When we get to about 10 days I will also add gifts (wrapped in Disney paper). I plan to put these in a chair with a Mickey balloon. I will let him choose a gift a day (sunglasses, WDW book, guest of honor badge with his name, WDW flashlight, Disney dollars, Mickey shirt to wear to Chef Mickey's, Game Boy game, etc.) to help count down the days to WDW.
You could even do this to the hours in the car to WDW. Have fun planning. That's part of the fun!!

Well, aren't you nice for taking your in-laws to Disney! Or, is that why you're grumpy? No, wait, that's because TN is so far from FL. No, that's why *I'm* grumpy. . .

For seniors, t-shirts, picture frames or snow globes would make good gifts. Maybe you could grab a few at the Disney Store before you leave. How about an autograph book? Some older people might have fun meeting characters. Depends on the person, of course. Also, they sell cute food items in the gift shops. I bought a bundle of Mickey shaped lollipops and gave them to my neices and nephews when we got home. You could leave some on their pillow or something. You could also buy them a lanyard and a few pins. If they have a favorite character or movie, they might enjoy gifts based on those themes.

Sorry, no ideas on how to set up the magic, except maybe you can sneak into their room and leave some goodies.

I am goign out tomorrow night so if i have to pick some stuff up to make one I could when I get my haircut.

If you don't get around to making one, they have pins that say "My first Disney trip" at the pin store at DTD.

Hey now, don't forget about the caramel dipping sauce for the pineapples (and apples). Lilo and Stitch go to Ohana at the poly! You can get the caramel fruit dip in the produce section.

I love these threads! My kids are a little older, and we are not staying on property :-( so I was afraid to send something ahead and concerned about keeping it a surprise while flying with all the security issues. So Mickey is mailing my kids a package before we leave with autograph books, a pressed penny book to share (lol) and their guest of honor badges. Their surprises when we get there will be PS's--CM, Sci Fi, PSB and then a carriage ride our last night. But I think each invitation might also include a little Disney lollipop or pack of gum.

For the seniors--my parents would love some of the behind the scenes tours. I think there is one at Epcot centered around teh flower show if you'll be there then....also my dad would LOVe the behind the scenes tour about the little tunnels under the Kingdom. I think its nice to let them have some quiet time away from the kids--and out of the heat and crowds of the parks. Maybe a surprise reservation for a romantic dinner or lunch for the two of them. I know these sound kinda pricey--but the older we get, the more money it takes to make us happy. I think on the smaller side, grandparents love the matching shirt thing, and those with a sense of humor might wear Grammy and Grandpap mouse ears or Guest of Honor Badges. Maybe Mickey could bring them a little basket with cookies or muffins for their own private stash. I wish I could take my parents and in laws and just lavish them with a wonderful time.....enjoy yourself!
