We are still newbies to the Club. :cool1: We are making our first trip home to SSR this coming July. Just can't wait. :yay: We decided to go this coming winter over our Christmas Break. We planned on going from Dec. 29th through Jan. 6th and stay at our home resort, SSR. We stayed this past Christmas from Dec. 22nd through Dec. 30th, stayed a POR, and loved it. We really wanted to go back over New Year's as DVC members. We wanted to experience a Disney NYE. I know from experience how busy it was when we went last Christmas and just thought for sure we would have trouble geting a ressie for the Dec. 29th- Jan. 6th. I called and couldn't believe it  it was not a problem to get the ressie we wanted. I just thought for sure I wan't going to be able to. We are booked and YIPPEEE!

Has anyone else gone when we are going? Do you have any experiences to share? How were the crowds? I know it was packed when we went last Christmas.

Thanks!

:goodvibes and we plan to be there basically the same dates, 12/29-1/5. Haven't convinced DH to join DVC yet, though. We've never been at Christmas. How was last year?? Do you fly, and if so, when do you start shopping for airfare?

We will be there then too! Although we are not yet DVC I am planning on buying this fall (when my daughter does the college program and I can get her discount) but I am not holding out much hope that we will be able to get a room at that late date for those dates...oh well...will just have to plan more trips!

NYE is so fun at WDW. MK and Epcot are madhouses. Both parks close to guests fairly early in the day. But Disney Studios is really pretty good and they have great fireworks at midnight. We've done the Studios twice for NYE so far. Crowds will tend to lessen as the holidays go by. It will take up to the weekend for things to get real quiet. But the next weekend will be busy with the Marathon.

You will love it. Everything is decorated so pretty. I was really crowded after Christmas until when we left on December 30th because all of the college bowl people were visiting. CM said it thins out after NYE. So we are excited to see it during NYE and after.

We do fly. We purchased our tickets ASAP in July after booking Christmas trip. The earlier you get your tickets the cheaper they will be. Don't wait too long to get them.

For our upcoming December we already purchased our tickets right after booking.

I am going over the NYE this year, my first time at NY but my fourth Disney Christmas. I am waiting for Southwest to start booking, the airfare always goes down when Southwest rates come out. I usually book on Southwest and then look for a Ding. I might get lucky!!
