I have decided to take my DS 11 and DD 9 on a surprise trip to Disney March 3-10 and seeing how it is a complete surprise I have no one to obsess with at home so I am passing the time by posting the products of my obsessing here.
I have been lurking here for quite some time and I feel like I am going to burst if I don't share my planning with someone. I guess that this could be considered our pre trip report?!?
I have a whole obsession schedule going - it is what I do best. It started once I booked the trip shortly before Halloween so I have it broken into increments as follows:
Halloween - obsessed - check
Thanksgiving - obsessed - check
Christmas - obsessing, almost done
DS/DD birthdays (February) - will obsess over after Christmas
Trip to NH to visit family (President's Day weekend)
Disney - have been and will be obsessing until we are on the plane
We (we= myself, DS and DD) are going to stay at the Coronado Springs resort and I have been reading all of the posts on the threads that KatMark put up. These have been such a terrific resource - it made me feel a lot better about choosing to stay at this resort because I had read a lot of reviews that were not too favorable
As for the surprise part of the whole thing I am not entirely sure how I am going to pull that off other than DS and DD are not going to school that day and I am going to give them tote bags that I am going to make filled with Disney themed items. So far I have picked up a few items from the dollar section at Target - pens, notepads, a tin with Donald Duck on it - things like that. I also got little flashlights that come with lenses that will project images of Disney related things on the wall. I got some really cool Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and Tinkerbell fabric to make the tote bags from. (I'll post pics when they are done) !!!
We will be arriving at MCO around 1:50 and Animal Kingdom has extra magic hours that evening so I know what we are doing!!! This is the only day that we done not have dining reservations so I am also exploring options for that as well. I have heard that the food at our resort is not great so I am not sure what we will do. Update: I have made reservations for the Maya Grill for 8:45 pm so we can hit there when we return from Animal Kingdom.
We have the Deluxe Dining Plan so we have A LOT of reservations. I wasn't sure what we were going to want to do so I figured that I'd make them while I had a good selection. One thing we are doing for sure is the Hoop Dee Doo Revue - I am so pysched for that WOO HOO!!!
