Surprise!! We laughed, we cried, we lost a child, we did American Idol!! FINISHED

We had just finished meeting the princesses and I could tell Elsa was feeling like a princess herself. It was precious to watch her walk away with a little bit of a bounce and a slight twirl in her step after coming face to face with Cinderella and the others. I don't think she intentionally did it...she most likely wasn't even aware of it...but those are the small things as a mother you hide in your heart and revisit when they get a little attitudey. :)

We moved on to Mickey's house. This was a first for us. We did tour Minnie's house with Meema and Peepa, but it was so crowded that day we hurried right out of Toon Town. I am glad we came back today!

Mickey's bedroom:

This was in Mickey's backyard and I thought it was super cute:

Michael and Mickey's pumpkins:

We followed the path to the judges tent where we waited for Mickey. I feel I am pretty good at judging if a line is worth the wait...but Disney pulled a fast one on us. Some real brain power had to go into that set up because what looked like a 10 minute line was a good 30-40 minutes. I got duped by Disney! They had silly classic cartoon clips projected on a wall length screen and it really helped the time go by. Before we knew it we were meeting Mickey and Minnie again!

Minnie kissed Michael:

n590345892_1390318_8410.jpg

We left Toon Town and headed for Cosmic Ray's. Elsa and I were hungry and they have the three different stations to choose from. Thankfully Michael was prepared that his favorite part was under construction so no issues this time. Being here reminded the kids about PUSH the talking trash can. Elsa was just sure we would run into him again. She started stock piling trash to feed him and I started to talk reality to them. The chances of actually seeing him again were pretty slim. But no one wanted to listen to me...and in the end they were right to dream because on our way out we ran right into him. He "ate" our scraps and the kids were thrilled! :yay:

We sped through Space Mountain's fast pass line and rode on the left side. Yowzers! That side is rough! I prefer the right side...the right side seemed faster and smoother...and I see that as a win win situation. Apparently the kids like slightly inferior speed and jerk you aroundedness.

Back to Buzz we went. I think this might be the ride we jump on the most much to Elsa's dismay. Not that she doesn't like it, she just doesn't like it as much as Michael and I. Once is enough for her. We even caught her lounging in her vehicle (think back to the sprawled out airplane picture) and then exiting with a score of ZERO :scared1: How can that be? Michael and I step out of our space craft breathing heavy with cramped up thumbs and she ignored the whole competition? I questioned at that moment whether or not she was actually my child, but I know I carried her for 8 1/2 months so it must be some glitch she inherited from someone else. :rolleyes1

We happily jumped into the Monsters Inc. Laugh Co. and only had to wait a few moments before they allowed us to enter the show. We did this with Meema and Peepa a few days ago and loved it. We settled in and were tickled when they chose Michael's joke. It was actually a recycled joke from Pal Mickey so we can't take full credit but it was still fun to be chosen. :cloud9: Then the next thing we know they are pointing a spot light on me and my lime green t-shirt (GO Disboards! :cheer2: ). The monster had to guess my number...it was very funny. I am always amazed at how different Michael and Elsa are. Elsa wants to be picked for everything...She could not have the spot light on her enough in her opinion. And then Michael dies a bit inside everytime he might get picked. When we exited the show Elsa was trying not to be bummed that she wasn't picked, but Michael kept stating his joy about being passed over. :confused3 It takes all kinds I guess.

I checked my phone to find out the time and saw a text message from my friend Roxi. She watches our zoo of animals when we leave on vacation and would be picking us up from the airport tomorrow. The message said we better check with the airline about our flight because our home town was expecting a spectacular blizzard. How great would that be? We had tickets for 7 days but could only stay for 6 because we had a commitment to return for. If the airline won't fly us it certainly wouldn't be our fault. We could use our last day if the flight is canceled. How bad is it to pray for a blizzard?

It was a tug back to reality realizing that our happy place was 78 degrees and real life was gearing up for a nasty storm...Ohhhhh I don't want to go home!!! :sad2:

Up Next: Is this our last day? Or could we possibly be getting a BONUS day? :woohoo:

I liked POP due to not sharing busses. Although 1st trip was during spring break and 2nd was Labor Day week. Labor Day week was much better. Except for the hurricanes. We were in Disney while hurricane Gustav flooded my DH's parents house and they had to move in with us. We survived. Great trip report. I want to do AIE but I may chicken out:rolleyes1

We lucked out. The only time we shared a bus is for magical express. I think it was due to the low crowds.

AIE was a neat time...I encourage you to do it!

I am hoping with all I have that you got an extra bonus day! That would be such a cool, unexpected way to end your trip.

I've rode Space Mountain twice and had no idea it had two sides. Duh. Now I feel like a dunce. Are there two entrances then?

I just found your trip report today and read straight though! It sounds like you were having a wonderful family vacation! Your the first AIE report I have read about too! Sounds like it was a lot of fun!

I hope you DO get a bonus day!

We are from Buffalo, so we always fly out of here, and every time I pray for a snow storm so that we can be stranded at Disney....:lmao:

Your reporting is great! I can't wait to read more.
Thank you! :goodvibes

Ha...don't feel like a dunce. :rotfl: The fast past and stand by lines merge into one. This is where they take your fast pass ticket. At this point they direct you to go right or left to seperate loading areas. I wonder if they only use one side when it is really slow.

Brrr...Buffalo. Are you guys getting pounded today?

Loving your trip report !!!! My heart was pounding for you when Michael was left by the monorail. Oh, goodness. We are going on our first plan ride as a family with our 2 year old and I have all these same horrible scenerios running through my head (especially at night when I should be sleeping). I am so happy all turned out well! He is a brave little one for sure.

Can't wait to read more.

Wow...I have really enjoyed reading all about your trip with your kids!! You did a great job really allowing to me to picture your trip!! Can't wait to see if you got your extra day or not!!!

I just found your TR tonight - I have really enjoyed it!:thumbsup2 Your kids are precious. It is so fun that Meems and Peeps got to join you - I know it was great for them (I'm a gramma).

Congratulations on AIE!!! I'm so excited to see it in March! I listened to your recording - I love that song, and you have a beautiful voice - I don't know why you didn't win the whole day!:goodvibes

I can't believe how yukky your room was - I have heard those kind of stories before, and we had some "mysterious" dirt on the bathroom wall at DLR last Summer, but otherwise, we have always been really happy with our Disney rooms!

I'm excited to see if you get to stay another day or not!

This has been a spectacular trip report... I have never read one before!

Let Michael keep trying that sword, you never know, one day he may manage to pull it out... My husband did when we went with his brother and 2 sisters (16, 12 and 9 at the time) and we ALL took our picture with it while it was still up! The look of shock on his face when he pulled it up was PRICELESS :rolleyes1

 I understand the fretting about your 2 year old...but don't let my story add to your worry...enjoy your trip with your family!

Thank you! Other than those 3 nasty things in our room it was a delight to be staying on-site. I think I am hooked. Disney will get more of my $ every year because not having to leave the magic is wonderful! :wizard:

Did you get a picture of the shock on his face? I would love to see that! Michael would probably fall backwards if he pulled it out...he pulls with all his might!

Our kids are the same ages. We have been going since they were both really young. If you are that hooked beware!!!!!! My DH isn't as hooked as we are so we drag him along. Although once we are there you can tell he's happy to be there. Start saving your pennies for the Disney Cruise. It's the best!!!!!!!!
You're kids would have an awesome time on the cruise. Something for everyone and tons of time with all the characters!

I am intrigued by a cruise...but keep thinking it would be boring. What do you do all that time on the ship? :confused3

It was a rain/snow/slush mix.....and since we get a lot of inclement weather none of the professors thought that it would be nice to cancel class :sad2:

Looking forward to your next update!!! I loved reading your trip report so far!

Thank you! I am hoping to add more today... :)

Yuck...they should cancel for all inclement weather...although we would never have school during the winter anymore.

We had just gotten the message from home about the impending storm. I wondered whether to tell the kids or not...but I was too excited to hold this hope in. I made it clear that the chances were small that we would get to stay the extra day but we had no trouble dreaming and planning what we might do if this went our way.

We decided to head over to the mountains but stopped for a castle picture first. When Elsa saw this picture she said next time the sun is shining in her face she won't open them for a picture...because you can't tell the difference. She has a point!

And then the stockades:

She looks way too happy to be a prisoner:

We even saw Donald on the way:

All the way to the mountains we discussed whether or not we would ride Splash Mountain. We figured there was no way we would have the same experience twice in a row. Last Splash Mountain ride was not the only time we had a water issue. 18 months ago Michael was overwhelmed in the park and he decided to go back to the rental house to stay with my brother and sister who were enjoying a "laying low" day at the side of the pool. Peepa graciously offered to take Michael to the house and Elsa, Meema, and I decided to go on Splash Mountain again. We didn't have fast passes but the stand by line was only around an hour so we thought it would be a good way to pass the time waiting for Peepa to return. That hour wait sadly turned into well over 2 hours. If I am not mistaken, people kept jumping out of the boats. I hear this happens often. But we waited through it and finally we were boarding. We were floating along and enjoying the first moments of the ride when all of a sudden out of no where came one of those water bloops that Disney is famous for. That water bloop arced nice and high and its landing point was a direct hit to my BlackBerry safely tucked away (or so I thought) in my nifty BB cell phone case. Nothing else in the boat or on my body got wet except my BlackBerry. :headache: I quickly removed it to see the damage and the flash was flashing. No one was using the camera but that flash was flashing like a Christams twinkle light. I shook it. Still flashed. I turned it off. Still flashed. I removed the battery. Ok...that stopped the flashing, but as soon as I placed it back in the flashing resumed. My mom was laughing and I was so frustrated. I enjoyed none of that ride because I was trying to dry my phone and was sure my warranty was voided due to that Disney water bloop. The flashing eventially stopped and somehow the sensor in the phone that indicates water damage was clear. No tell tale sign that Disney's water bloop even hit it. (Not that it mattered much in the end because our puppy ended up eating that phone)

So where was I? Oh yes, we ended up riding Splash Mountain and this time we only got splashed a little bit. :woohoo: We really enjoyed it! We rode Thunder Mountain and moved onto Pirates of the Caribbean. This is my favorite scene from the ride:

n590345892_1390325_741.jpg

On our last trip, Elsa gave me my very first trading pin with this exact scene on it. I am sad to report that it fell off my lanyard this trip. I hope to find a match to it someday.

We left the ride and a pirate training was just about to get started. Elsa was so excited and was hoping to be included. The pirate called on Elsa to help with setting up the rope boundry and she was tickled!

n590345892_1390326_1065.jpg

And then Jack Sparrow came out!

n590345892_1390327_1420.jpg

He did such a fantastic job.

n590345892_1390328_2055.jpg

Elsa and all the kids (all except Michael as he was hiding behind me) were picked to become honorary pirates. It was a cute show.

We didn't have to wait too long to meet Captain Hook and Smee:

n590345892_1390338_5260.jpg

We left all the pirates and headed towards the Jungle Cruise. We passed a snack stand and got some yummy ice cream. I noticed they had some cinnamon glazed almonds. They smelled a bit like I imagine heaven might. I couldn't pass them up so I bought a bag along with our cold treats. It was a good, good choice. :thumbsup2 We loved them and found ourselves rationing them. We rode the Jungle Cruise and went back to the almond stand and bought another bag for Grandmother (my mother-in-law). I knew she would love these...and she did!

We worked our way to Main Street...no easy task considering the afternoon parade was in full swing. We did our famous weaving in and out and some how made it to the other side. We were trying to make it to Tomorrow Land and because the streets were packed for the parade we needed to pass through the stores in order to do it. The first one we entered was an upscale store I have never entered before. It was a level of Disney I didn't even know existed. We were looking at this castle:

n590345892_1390340_5972.jpg

Yikes!

n590345892_1390341_6327.jpg

Rumor has it there are two of these in WDW. First of all I am not sure what type of person can afford this...and secondly, where would one put it? It is beautiful but I have no where in my house that I could put it that would look natural. Actually it would be a huge waste of money seeing as my puppy would just end up eating it. :sad2:

Michael just loved these swords and informed me that when he is an adult he is going to get a good paying job so he can afford to vacation at Disney and buy at least 2 of these swords. They started at around $450...he knew Mama was not going to be buying these for him any time soon.

n590345892_1390342_6682.jpg

It was in this store that I bought my most un-Disney souvie. They took a photo of Michael and Elsa and then that photo was etched with a laser into a clear keychain fob. It was a neat process to watch. I will try to take a picture and post it later. Pretty hard to explain...but I love it! :lovestruc We were using this store as a way to sneak over to Tomorrow Land but by the time we were done with the keychain the parade was over. As we were leaving the store we had the pleasure of seeing the Dapper Dans!

Next Up: The end of the day is near and blizzard watch 2009 continues.

I am intrigued by a cruise...but keep thinking it would be boring. What do you do all that time on the ship? :confused3

You will NEVER be bored...that much I can assure you. Every night you get an intinnery of what is happening the next day and you can't believe how much there is to do. My kids have been twice, my DH and I just once and haven't even scratched the surface. There's just a ton of stuff to see and do. The kids have their "labs" to go to. They make flubber and other experiments. Mom & Dad have bingo or the adult pool or spa. Then there are days you can go to shore. And Castaway Cay (Disney's private island) is an absolute blast! I promise there is so much to do you won't be bored.
