Surprise!! We laughed, we cried, we lost a child, we did American Idol!! FINISHED

Why do all good trips have to come to an end? Final days are wonderful and a ticking time bomb at the same time. You know it is your last chance to cram in as much magic as possible. And so cram we did! :dance3:

Bright and early we got our wake-up call. I think we were all secretly hoping for the opening ceremony magic to strike again. I think I was hoping the most. ;) We rushed to get ready and we were making good time! The bus was waiting...could we be any luckier?

We arrived at 8:10. Park doesn't open until 9...do we have a chance? Could they still be looking for the family to open the park? Will they pick us to ride the train and throw the opening pixie dust? pixiedust: No one was walking up to me so I mosey on over to a cast member...:rolleyes1 I make small talk and inquire about whether or not the opening family has been chosen. He informed me that they picked the opening family at 7:30. :scared1: Do you know how early we would have to wake up to make it to even have a chance to be picked? I guess the three of us will have to be happy to watch that train pull up...and I'm ok with that.

We had plenty of time to kill. The kids played with the hula hoops and I took picture after picture of families ready to start their day at MK. I hate seeing families pose for family pictures only to have dad or mom behind the camera. Family pictures should be with everyone...so I offer as often as I can. And this morning was a steady stream of pictures. I didn't mind. I would hand a camera back and immediately someone would hand me another camera. This went on for over a half hour. Thankfully I got a picture of my kids:

And then it starts...right at 9! The Mayor came out to kick things off:

Here comes the train!!!!

Mickey!

Mary Poppins...my favorite!

The music ends and away we go. Our mission was to speed walk to the Tinkerbelle shop in hopes to wake up Tinkerbelle. The first one who asks gets to wake her up...and then you get one of those certificates that Elsa loves so much. I'd only read about this so we weren't sure what to expect. We walked into the store and another family had just beat us to it. Elsa was a little bummed, but we got to see her "fly" around the store.

We walked out of the shop and ran into The Fairy Godmother!

This is always a must...who will pull the sword out? This time they tried together:

n590345892_1390294_1175.jpg

I think deep down Michael thinks he will pull it out. Elsa plays along, but Michael is disappointed every time. :goodvibes

Here we are in Fantasy Land and only a few are milling around! :woohoo: What will we ride? We looked at Snow White and the line is empty...so we decide to help the lines fulfill their destiny. We went to board and the cast member let us know we were the first riders of the day. He asked Elsa to open the ride by warning Snow White not to eat the apple. So she happily did. Ok, so we weren't the opening ceremony family and we didn't get to wake up Tinkerbelle...but we opened Snow White! ;)

We rode everything in this section in record time! We saw Ariel out and decided to get it line.

I don't know why the next picture cracks me up...but it does. The kids are usually super talkative with the characters...but not with her. I think it might be because it was a face to face encounter. Apparently my kids like chatting with mute over grown stuffed animals more.

We decided to take some time for Elsa and have her meet the Princesses. We didn't have to wait too long and she LOVED it!

Next Up: How long can I stretch out this last day? ;)

Thank you! You must be so excited with 2 trips on the horizon! :cool1:

Oh yes, we are very excited. We went last March and in December in 2008! We had a blast!

Your trip report is outstanding! I have read a lot of them and your details are great!

What is "VIP cleaning treatment"?

Couldn't tell you...we never got it :rotfl2:

What a wonderful trip report!

Your children are adorable, great pictures.

And you have a beautiful voice. I'd listen to you! I love "Come to Jesus" (it's on KLOVE a lot), and you sang it beautifully.

I hope you are having a great time.

Thank you!

We'll definitely see AIE but I won't be participating...I'm not a very good singer. But I love your pictures of all the Princesses...Cinderella is my all-time favorite Princess :)

I hate your trip is coming to an end!!! But all the more reason to go back again next year :)

I agree...time to go back! :goodvibes

I too would love to know where to find her. We will be there in about 3 weeks and I have yet to get a pic of her! TIA! :goodvibes

I sent you a PM... :)

I can't wait to go in June!!! We're going June 14th-23rd...staying at Pop Century!!! Be sure to check out my PTR--it's in my siggie :)

Our first choice was POP!

I think we will shoot for that next trip.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Hi there! You nabbed me with the American Idol bit. Congrats!! I can't WAIT to audition when I go down there for Spring Break. Thanks for sharing!!

Awww! It can't be the last day already. It's even sad to read the last day in a trip report. I love that Elsa got to open Snow White. That's pretty cool. :)

I just found your report and have read through it all. This is the first time I have read about someone who participated in the AI show - so cool!!! I listened to the song you recorded and your voice is really lovely. What a fun experience! We just don't have time to visit DHS on our March trip to WDW and I am disappointed I won't get to see this show. It looks like a great time from your pictures.

I love how you talked the cast member at AK into choosing your family for the show! And I can totally relate to your mad dash around DTD for dinner at Planet Hollywood. Getting around DTD is so cumbersome.

I was sorry to hear about all the cleaning problems you had in your room. A half empty beer bottle!! Ick!! I hope that refund shows up.

I had to laugh at your comment on how Michael tries to pull out the sword in the stone because my boyfriend did the same thing when I took him to MK for the first time last year. He pulled and pulled on that sword and was so upset that he couldn't get it to budge! :rotfl:

Anyway thanks for the great TR, I have had such fun reading it! :goodvibes

Ok... so I'm at home now, where I can see pictures... and WOW! I just sat here and read through your whole report so far! It's WONDERFUL!! Your family is SO beautiful and happy. You tell super stories and take great pictures. So glad I found it!

Your voice is gorgeous! I can see why you were so successful with AIE.

Anyway, enough gushing from me. Thanks so much for sharing... can't wait to hear how the magical vacation ended!

Give it your all when you audition and enjoy it! It was so much fun!

:( I know...it should never end. I consider moving to FL so we don't have to go. :rotfl:

I love your pictures! Your voice is really great! I am sorry to hear about your room--gross! But everything else seemed like it went really well! Thanks!

Thanks! It really was a wonderful trip... :goodvibes

great TR=)
i loved all the pictures! the american idol thing sounds awesome!

I had a total of 294 pictures...I didn't realize how hard it would be to narrow it down to the basics for the trip report :)

Last days are the worst. But our Dec. trip had a great last day. The crowds for Christmas were arriving during the last part of our stay. We had reservations at Crystal Palace on our last morning and had planned to just eat and ride a few rides before MK was so packed. We rode Peter Pan two times and when we got off we were surprised with Dream Fastpasses. That totally made our last day great because we got to ride everything instead of just a few rides. I hope you all had a magical last day as well.

ohh, I am just loving your trip report. Too bad it's almost over, but then you get to plan your next trip :thumbsup2 PS-I live in Buffalo, so we're "almost" neighbors :)
