Ok so for my daughters 16 birthday my husband is sending her and I to Disney World by ourselves. Im so excited. But Im used to 5-7 day trips, this time we will have 3 days and 4 night due to flying. Can anyone recommend a game plan? We are getting there around noon on a Tuesday and leaving in the late afternoon of Friday. Im so exicted I cant get my head around planning, and when to do what, and where to eat! LOL Can someone reign me in? Im never like this? Thanks Tammy:worship:

Oh my gosh I have done this exact trip with my mom at least 3 times! We always did Friday to Monday though. We always went during Halloween or Christmas so our first day we got an early flight, got to the hotel by afternoon and we did party tickets at MK that night. Then we did rope drop to park close on our two full days and a morning at MK the day we left. We also made sure to try and book a late flight the day we left. Depending on the time of year you go, you may need to really prioritize what you want to do. If crowds are low you will have more flexibility. We rank HS and AK as our least favorite so those were morning parks. We got there and saw our favorite attractions and left to head to Epcot or MK. As for eating, eat where you want to but make ADR's if you have a favorite that books up.. I also recommend if you plan to do parks on the day you arrive that you pack a a carryon with things you need for park time since your bags will be delayed.

We are doing a shorter trip next too. Not as short as that, but shorter than we are used to. On our last 2 trips we had 8 and 7 park days respectively and this time we will have 4.5. We generally go with the knowledge we won’t do everything we might want to do, but then add on probably not getting to do everything you usually do. Once that all sinks in, I’d list the must dos and favorites…hers first. Our trip is for my dd’s birthday, so her favorites will be considered first. We are also doing her favorite restaurants. Fortunately my son is just 3 and they share some of the same favorites anyway.

Everyone has that list of things that they really have to do at least once during a trip. You’ll have to decide from that if you want to try to hit all four parks if you have hoppers on your tickets or if your flight on Friday will allow time for you to visit a park that day. Then if you can’t hit all four, comes the difficult decision of which one to skip. If I had to make that decision I know ours would be Epcot because even though we love it, it is the one park that does not have a “must” for anyone in my crew that we can’t get done some other way. We are probably hitting it on our first day on which we have the shortest amount of touring time. I hope you both have a great time.

I wouldn't plan a thing. Let each moment decide the next.

What a tremendous gift your husband has given you to spend extra time with your 16 year old!

Hit the park like a 16 year old would - no care for the future, enjoying the present like it will last forever!

Be spontaneous!
