Surprise Swap ----complete!!!!

Mazda - I looked back through the posts. You announced you were postal on the 9th of January. It's been almost a month! I knew it was a long time, but my goodness! I don't always catch the mail lady unless she has something to deliver that doesn't fit in the box. Next time she has to come to the door, I will ask her what she thinks. Was it a box or an envelope? Last week one day, our box was open when we got the mail. It looked like everything was in there and the mail lady just forgot to close the door. But, I hope your package wasn't in there and taken. :scared1: I am going to keep my fingers crossed that it will show up any day now.

I have finished my groups. I am waiting to see if there is room in your holiday swap box.

:scared1:It was a padded envelope - one of the bubble wrap ones. I just hope it didn't get mushed in the snow - everything inside was well wrapped so even if the outer got wet it should be OK.

We've never had a problem before...the mail lady is pretty good about it. I think it should fit in our box, so it's nothing she would have to bring to the door. If the packages are too big for the box, she brings them right to the door and leaves them in front if we are not there. I am going to look out for her today and try to catch her and talk to her about it. It's just hard because she is pretty quick. Hopefully it shows up still this week and we don't need to worry or wonder!!

It was only slightly bigger than A4 (so an A4 sheet could fit in flat) so I think it should fit OK.

Its mad how long the packages are taking to cross over! was on the royal mail website and found this -

Update 28th January 2011:

The United States Department of Homeland Security is continuing to require increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, some mail entering the USfrom around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes.

Most items, including personal letters and cards, magazines, CDs, DVDs and lightweight packets, will be delivered in the USwithin a few days of posting. However, there are delays of about two weeks for some heavier packets. These delays are currently affecting stamped items, franked items, and items posted under contract, with the exception of Destination Sort and/or M-Bag* items.

Royal Mail is very sorry for these unavoidable delays. We have implemented a number of contingency plans to ensure as much of our customers’ mail reaches the USas quickly as possible and are continuing to work to minimise disruption to our customers, whilst ensuring we comply fully with the USdirectives and regulations.

maybe this is why they're taking so long - tho you'd think theyd warn us when we post them!

Lisa - I'm sorry I haven't kept up with you about the kids swap...Lexi got really busy with basketball and a school project. So, she didn't finish her set yet. But, she has off tomorrow for in-service, so I think she should be able to get done then. As soon as she is done, I will mail Megan's swap off to you!!

ok, that a bit spooky, Megan just asked about it ... will let her know!

Thanks for the oinfo Jayne - I think even a small swap is porbably a "heavier" package (it certainly costs heavy to mail:eek:) so maybe that's the probelm

I missed that post I think...While it stinks that it is taking so long, at least that gives us some insight to what the problem may be. It has been a full month (in fact, nearly 5 weeks) now, so hopefully it will be rolling in here soon. I mean...a coulpe weeks is one thing, 5 is a whole other thing!! My concern is that if they are taking that long, are they sitting somewhere and getting suffled around?

Knowing my luck, if they're actually being shipped over, mine will be the one that falls overboard! You'd honestly think that they would have warned us when we posted them or something - i only found that when i was looking for someone to complain to! ha ha! and Mazda - i think a lear jet would be soooooo much easier - and we can stock up on cool scrap stuff! ha ha!

That's what I thought;) And of course with all the postage we'd be saving, if we doipped by an outlet mall or two and got some Levis and other stuff we'd really be SAVING money so the Lear jet wouldn't really cost anything:rolleyes1 I wonder if I should have a word with the Chancellor about my brilliant graps of economics:lmao:

Erin--just wanted to let you know that Rachel is being overloaded with projects for school so this swap is being put on her back burner. Between musical rehearsals and homeork she only has the weekends for cropping and now this weekend is for homework. I will be priority shipping our box(es) on Tuesday Feb 22nd, you should have them before Friday Feb 25th.

Cheryl - I am not worried. I know you guys have been working hard!! Rachel's school work is so much more important than this swap! If she doesn't get it done by the 22nd and needs a few more days, let me know. This swap is kinda large, so I don't think I will get it all swapped out in one day either. So, I could even get most done that week and just swao yours and hers the end of the week. That gives her some more time!! (Including and extra weekend)
