Surprise Pregnancy at 45

Congratulations! I can relate to being scared about pregnancy. I am 38 and have one son who is 9. I have had a miscarriage and am currently trying for another, but haven't given up yet. Sometimes I do lay awake thinking about how my life will change yet again if I were to get pregnant, but in the long run I think and know it will all work out. My sister passed away and my mom raised her son when she was 45,she claims it keeps her young and it is fun to be around youth and I have to agree. In life when you decide to have a child their is no greater joy or blessing. So sit back relax and before you know it this little one will be here and just enjoy it!!!! And I agree sometimes it is ok to complain and worry, because that is just life. But remember after the rain there is always a rainbow:flower3:

Congrats! I don't know what this is like, but I have a feeling you will do great. You have experience and wisdom now.

I do know about taking babies to WDW. We went on a trip when youngest was 3.5 months old. Easiest trip ever. We had the stroller and a sling and it was great. Keep your trip plans, just add a port a crib request to your reservation.

Can't help with the bio stuff but at 45 we are "raising" 3 yr old DGS.

It is amazing how different it is 20 years later!! We parent so different. What was important no longer is. We so pick our battles differntly. DGS goes out to breakfast in his PJ's and no one cares!! We spend hours playing candy land and do not worry that there are dishes in the sink. We know he willl not die if he skips a few meals so we do not stress.
There is more money than before but we spend less and have more fun.
We love it!!!!
You will be fine and so will the little one!!!

Congratulations!! This baby was obviously meant to be here:)
I had my first at 23 and my fourth 3 months before I turned 41. It was definately harder as I was older, but she is so worth it. My kids are 20, 14, 11 and 2. We had gotten rid of everything too, but with great friends and family we didnt want for anything. Friends from church gave us clothes and furniture, and family and friends bought us very nice gifts for our dd.
We were trying and were so happy that we conceived on the first try. At my age I thought it would take a while, but not so:)
I also wanted to say that we took our little princess to WDW for her first trip when she was 3 1/2 months old. A planned trip after finding out we were pregnant. Princess was great and EASY. They are so portable at that age so dont go cancelling that trip just yet!! If you are nursing it is even easier. No bottles and formula to mess with and they arent on baby food yet. Give it some thought!
We are taking ours back for her third trip in May:banana: I will have to say that this trip will probably be a bit harder with her being 2 1/2!!

Congratulations. How exciting!

We have 5 children... 20 years apart. I was 21 when we had our first and 41 when we had our youngest. What a ride it's been so far... buying diapers and paying college expenses!

Look at it this way...

If you didn't have a baby on the way... How old would you be 18 - 19 years from now?

I think all the feelings you are experiencing right now, are completely normal at this stage. Take it one day at a time.

Wishing you and your family good health and good times.

I was 45 when I had my now 6 year old son. I also have a 19 year and a 22 year old. Was SHOCKED and worried when I found out. LOTS of tests and the easiest pregnancy of the three! I had no problems at all.
I wish you the best. The new addition will keep you young. ( you will feel REALLY old sometimes though!)
He has been to WDW 4 times in his young life!!!!

We were in a similar situation: raising 3 kids, tossed the baby stuff, and then found out I was expecting at age 40. The pregnancy was harder -- more tests, more complications, and VERY tired the whole time -- but the birth was easier than those previous.

It IS hard to get your head around having to go backward, and sometimes I DO really regret that my friends are enjoying thier empty(ing) nests while I am potty training.

But I think I am a better parent now -- more mellow, more patient, less anxious about little things -- and I am really savoring it this time around. Our youngest has turned out to be the sweetest and easiest of the bunch, and I can't imagine life without him.

Just let yourself think and feel whatever you need to, and trust that it will all work out OK by the time baby arrives. And congrats!

Congratulaions!
My Mom was 43 when I was born. She had a 16 year old, my sister , and a 13 month old, my adopted brother, when I came along!

I am now 41 and my mom is about to turn 85 and I'm so happy she's still going strong!

I have a fear that the same will happen to me.... and I know I will be fine if it happens, but I'm sure it is a lot to get used to.
