Surprise Pregnancy at 45

just wanted to say Congrats and I'm sure everything will fall into place!

BTW, I have a cousin who had their two children at 41 and 45; a friend whose surprise brother came when she was 17 (mom was 40, dad was 50); and a neighbor who had her last child the same year her first grandchild was born. All of these families are doing fine. You're not alone!!

Congratulations! While I am not in your shoes, I can only imagine how you feel. For goodness sake, I'd feel shocked if I found out if I were pregnant and I am only 34!

Its normal to be scared and overwhelmed. Its okay to feel that way at any and all points after the baby comes too.

But as you know, this to shall pass and you will have the same incredible blessed feeling when you hold this baby for the first time as you did with your last. You will love him/her with all your heart and he/she will change your life in wonderful ways that you can not yet imagine. In a matter of months, you won't be able to imagine your life without this child.

Everything will be okay.

Congratulations!

I just recently met a woman, at DS's Homeschool PE class, who got pregnant with her youngest at 48. She didn't even know until she was 5 months along; her regular doctor just told her it was "the change". But she didn't believe him and found someone else who actually checked her out. There's a 30 year difference between her oldest and her youngest! She's really zen about it though...takes things in stride. She's now 56 and is going to be taking the LSATs because she's tired of her physically demanding jobs and wants to be a lawyer!

I think kids can keep us young, as long as we're not already "old" (like my FIL already acted like an old man when his first son was born). :goodvibes

Hugs and more hugs to you. BTDT...my surprise pg. came after years of secondary IF. I was 44 when the shock of my life came along. Spent half the pg. in tears. Thankfully I had dear friends that were understanding and promised me it would be okay. And you know what? They were right....honestly, our little guy (he's now 2) is seriously the best thing that ever happened. It will keep you young! You will survive the first year without sleep! Every day is an adventure in love and learning. Wishing you all the best....

In about 6 months, you won't even be able to imagine your life without your new child. And just think, another child to introduce to WDW! Congratulations, and just keep reminding yourself that everything will work out!

:goodvibes congratulations I too went thru fertility treatments only to get pregnant naturally :confused3 I am 41 and have 2 DD's a 4 yr old and a 6 month old:cloud9: what a blessing, yes it is scary but also wonderful! I am the product of an older mama she was more dedicated to me than my much older siblings she says it was because she knew how preciouse time was and she wanted to enjoy me, it will all work out :thumbsup2

Wow! I am sure that was a HUGE surprise!!! The shock will wear off and you will grow with excitement as you plan the arrival of this miracle. Congrats to you and your DH!

Oh did you find out what you are having?

is about 7 months pregnant. Her youngest is 10...all their baby stuff is long gone...and her husband is about to be deployed for 2 years.

After much discussion, we have decided that this baby is proof that God has a sense of humor!

I hope you will eventually be able to look at this opportunity as a lark...a wonderful, marvelous, unexpected happy joke that brings richness that you never expected into your lives!

Congratulations.
I am in my late 40's and in the last few years several of my friends have had 'baby surprises'. Without exception, they all are happy and can not imagine their lives without their little ones.
Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Congrats!!! I'm 46, and I can imagine how scared you feel. I got married young, and had my first baby at 24. My youngest is now 9. It's just been in the last few months that I feel I can leave the house for a short time without children (like going to the grocery store, Target, etc.). If I got pg right now, knowing that I couldn't just leave to go to the grocery store without bringing a child with would send me over the edge!! lol.

But your pg is a blessing. You will find the strength to get through the late night feedings, etc. :)

Also, check out babycenter.com. I'm sure there are other older pg moms there you can talk to.

And I also think you should keep your disney trip planned!!!! Book a room on the monorail to make it easier to go back to the room for naps. :)

Congrats!!! While I wasn't 45, we did have a baby 2 weeks before our 18th wedding anniversary! She is now 13 and a joy! I have to say its odd being the oldest parent sometimes.

My kids tease me because I tend to be friends with their friends grandparents and not their friends parents.

Many of our friends have grandkids the same age as our youngest so depending on where you live you may find this is true. People around here tend to marry young and have kids young, so we are an oddity.

All I can say is just enjoy the ride!! Good luck!

I know how you feel. I am 43 and thought I was starting menopause. Found out I was pregnant. Because of the age I am in the high risk. We went through all the testing. Genetic counseling, amneo, and for the last 2 months weekly biophysical profile ultrasounds. I ended up with high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. I only gained 11 lbs and our little miracle with be delivered via c-section on Friday.

It was not as easy as it was 15 and 17 years ago with my older two but we are really excited to meet her.

We also had nothing. Between friends and family we are more then set. I really put a lot of thought into what we really needed. A really good car seat, a crib and a high chair were the first things. These I knew we would use for many years so we got new. Stroller was second hand (craigslist) and I picked up an outfit here and there, and diapers, wipes and misc here and there. We ended up with a wonderful assortment of hand me down clothes also.

Congratulations and enjoy the ride.

By the way........I'm getting my tubes tied!!!!! :lmao:

Congratulations!

We went to Disney World when our youngest was 3 months, and it was no problem. I find them easier at that age than when they're mobile!

Have fun with the pregnancy, the baby, and the trip :yay:

Great news!!! This baby is meant to be in your family for sure!!! It's an adventure and what a wild ride it will be for you guys!! You can go to Disney when the baby is 1! Congratulations and all the best to you. God only gives you what you can handle, enjoy the gift.

If you notice my siggy- there is 18 years between my oldest and youngest. I wouldn't trade her for the world. I love being a mom again to a toddler.

Best wishes to you and yours!

I don't have any advice, just wanted to say congratuations. You are truly blessed!

Congrats!

My cousin had twins in 9/08 at the age of 51! Talked to her the other day and she said she has never felt better/younger. Her monkeys keep her young!

A shock to you, yes, but what a blessing!!!
