We are looking for ideas on how best to do the big reveal to our sons (10,7) about going to WDW. We booked a bounceback when we went last year, and have somehow managed to keep this trip a secret for an entire year. They have never stopped begging about when we can go back. We told them it will probably be in another 2 or 3 years. We are flying out Memphis, about 5 hours away from us, next Saturday morning, so we decided to leave home after school Friday and spend the night in a hotel. This way we won't be so exhausted from an entire day of traveling.

We are thinking about telling the kids Friday after school that we are going to Memphis for just one night (the truth), and that we are going to do something fun the next day (also the truth). We want to reveal it to them when they wake up Saturday morning, that we are going to the airport as soon as they get showered and dressed. We thought about the wrapped magic bands or t-shirts ideas, but was wondering if any of you have any other ideas. It can't be too elaborate because of the hotel setting, but we are open to ideas. TIA!!

I think wrapping the magic bands or a Disney shirt would be fun! It sounds like they are going to be excited! Have a great trip!

We are going back a year later too, and keeping this trip a surprise. I'm planning on having the car packed and not telling them until get in the car. We leave the day after thanksgiving so they will think we are traveling to visit family. I'm going to pull out magic bands and their Mickey ears and hand them to them when we get to the airport and just let them figure it out :)

surprises are always the best trips. Hope they love the surprise and have a great trip.

We surprised my daughter for her 10th birthday. I have a friend who owns a limo business. She drove me in a limo to her school. I checked her out early (mid afternoon) I was wearing a shirt that said "Surprise were going to Disney World". The limo driver was waiting for her by her classroom door and handed her a matching shirt. She told her to read the shirt. My daughter was so surprised. (Of course she knew the driver, she was our friend). Then she said WHEN? The limo driver said NOW!! Its a very small school with a hall that leads right out to the road. The teachers all came to the classroom door and cheered her on as she walked into the limo. It is certainly one she will remember!!

That's pretty much exactly as we're doing it. We'll stay overnight in a hotel in Indy Sunday night and they will open the wrapped box of Magicbands before bed. "Surprise! We're leaving for Disney in the morning!" Only 4 more days to go!!

Not sure how old your kids are but my friend bought plush Disney characters for her kids, attached a note to them stating "So glad you are coming to visit today!", and set them out at the hotel after the kids fell asleep so when they woke in the morning they were surprised! Plus they got a new stuffed toy so how bad is that?! lol

DD6 doesn't know we are going a week from today. We are in upstate NY and she thinks we are going to Florida just to visit my parents who live on the gulf coast. Her birthday was yesterday and when we land at MCO we are going to give her a "present" that we forgot. Inside is our magic bands, an autograph book and marker. We have had this reservation for almost a year and it has gotten so hard the last few weeks to not slip.

You should see if someone who's there now will give Mickey a paper saying see ya real soon (then your kids names )
