Hello all! I am looking for some suggestions on things to buy for an 8 yr old girl... I want to place a gift on her bed each morning before we head to the parks. Thank you!!

My mom, sister and I did this last year for my niece (6.5 at the time), nephew (10) and son (22 months). The older kids loved it, my son didn't really care ;)

I started getting things a few months in advance, so I was able to take advantage of sales, especially at the Disney store.

We got them:

Disney beach towels, which they used at the pool.
Disney t-shirts
Personalized mouse ears
Disposable cameras so they could take pics of whatever they wanted
Plastic Tervis-style Disney cups

We drove, so taking stuff wasn't an issue for us. Good luck and have fun! Sometimes the adults got a gift too. It was fun listening to the kids try to figure out who was leaving the gifts.

Does she collect pins at all?

Perhaps a cute disney themed snack she could nibble on in the park.

Glow sticks for an evening experience.

I have bought some stuff for our 15 hour car drive that I plan on giving the kids each hour. So this is along the same lines as placing it on their beds while there (which I had forgotten about and might have to do, also). :) I found a lot of Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Cars, etc things in the Target dollar spot. Little coloring books, sets with pencils, paper, erasers, etc. Also the dollar stores are good for having little plastic characters or books, coloring books, etc. I also found Frozen merch at the Disney Store online. And Kmart had some shirts of Jake, Cars, Star Wars (and Angry Birds Star Wars), Doc, Sofia, etc. Walmart also has little plastic food containers (and I have seen these at Target, too) that have the Princesses, Mickey, etc. I am going to put some fruit snacks or candy or crackers, etc on these.

I'd love to hear what everyone else has found, too. Looking to find a few more things before we leave. :)

Dollar Tree stores carry a pretty wide mix of Disney stuff, stickers, toys, coloring books, night lights (for the hotel room?), pez dispensers, crayons, playing cards, pop-up washcloths, puzzles etc. I went WAY overboard on gifts for my sister's kids :)

This is probably way out of anything you were thinking of, but I thought I'd mention it. As soon as my post went through, I looked at the top and there was an Ad for Oriental Trading. I just looked, and they have 37"x70" cardboard cut outs of Anna and Elsa from Frozen. If your daughter is a Frozen fan, how cool would it be to come back to see that in your room. :) It would be hard to transport, especially if you weren't driving, but maybe shipping it to the resort would work? They don't seem to have any other Frozen stuff but have a lot of snow flake stamps, etc.

I used to do that when we had long car trips to visit family in Maine, we called them "travel surprises" I would wrap them in wrapping paper so they had to open them. :thumbsup2 My kids liked those "Where's Waldo" type books but they were disney themed, wonder if they still make those. I would give one to each kid then they would trade. I also would buy a couple of new dvds or borrow from library so they would have a fresh show to watch and that can eat up an hour of the drive.

The kids love Where's Waldo, so I will have to see if they have some Disney themed ones out there. :) They are usually good watching DVD's in the back seat, but since they are bigger now I have a feeling they are going to get more bored. I thought of the wrapping paper too. I am either going to do that, or just have a bag full of stuff that they can stick their hand in and not look, then pull out a surprise. :)

I just did a quick Amazon search for "Disney look and find" in books and quite a few came up in the $7 price range... if that helps. Have a great trip!

Michael's Stores have a lot of Disney merchandise right now in the bins where you find party favor type things. Ponytail holder /hair clip sets, princess tattoos, flashlights, Minnie Make up bag, dry write boards, activity books, big silly pens, etc. I saw Princess stuff and Minnie stuff. They also have more boyish things- I think it was a Cars theme. I also saw cute glow stick magic wands at Target with the new Easter merchandise.

I also saw Minnie Mouse ear/bow headbands at Party City for around $5-6.

This isn't really something to put in the room... but maybe you could leave a note...would she like to get a manicure/pedicure? GF spa has a my first manicure or pedicure for girls. I took my DDs there to get manicures and the loved it!

I laid out tee shirts that I had made each night and each girl had a matching hairbow. They loved matching and the comments they got in the parks from CM's and guests. They really loved wearing them back to school when we came back though.
