Just finishing up my last minute planning stuff for our WDW trip 4/3-4/10 and need some advise.

I would like to put together some surprise bags for the 3 boys (ages 10, 8, & 6) to have on the airplane on the way. Here's what I have so far:

Cards (Go Fish, Old Maid, War)
Light up Astro balls
Dr Seuss Markers
Spiderman pencils
Spiderman notebooks (small ones)
Teck Deck Dudes

Any other ideas?

Are you bringing a DVD player? Perhaps a new movie? Headphones for everyone (earbuds for those who don't mind them because it's really hard to hear with reg. headphones depending on where you are sitting). Snacks, gum (for take-off/landing)

We always bring WAAAY more stuff on the plane that DD ever uses but it's nice to know that it's available in case of a delay.

Thats plenty, add some snacks and you are done.

By the time you take into consideration, take off and landing which kids normally find exciting drinks or meal if they have them and playing with a few bits of stuff they are usually there.

We do 12 hour flights and on my first trip with the kids about 3 things came out to play with. I was really glad when carrying it through the airport I had brought a wee suitcase full of stuff for him. :laughing:

I'd rethink the balls. Three boys and balls on the plane???? :scared1:Yep, I'm a boy mom.

Lot's of snacks! Do they have gameboys or PS??? If so a new game would last the whole trip.

Okay....I'll remove the ball idea. :cool2:

My 10 year old has an Ipod that I can surprise him with downloading a movie onto. They all have DS's so games are a great idea. We have a 3 hour flight. I'll put some snacks in there...last time I opted for gummy candies over gum so I'll do that again. Maybe go to a candy store and pick out some fun things. Plus I'll pack some other snacks.

Thanks for the all suggestions. :worship:

The movie is a great idea! My boys loved using mom and dads!

Also the games are as well u can always find some cheaps ones around, doesn't even have to be a good one my boys are always thrilled with figuring out a new game!

Travel size magna doodles or etch n sketch. My DS loves these.

I have a discount card for a locale video game store in town that I can use on used games. I'll go there next month when I don't have the boys with me.

I put the astro balls in their Disney mailboxes. I bought little white metal mailboxes at Target last month and decorated them with a bunch of Disney stickers. I put them in their rooms and put the flag up every time I put something in them. Just a little fun thing to do while waiting for the big trip. Over Valentines, I mostly put candy in there. So today they will be extra surprised when they find the Astro balls. I'll post pictures of the mailboxes so you can see what they look like. Very cute.

What about something to read?

* books
* magazine
* comic books
* mad libs
* hangman

You can also download books from the library onto mp3 players free w/your library membership.

However, 1 new dvd/ds game should do it for a 3 hr flight.

You can get small Color Wonder packs for them. I have seen Cars and Toy Story ones out there. They are great because the markers don't get ink everywhere. These are a must when we travel with our kids. I would also, include if you can, some maps of the parks. That may be something to get them excited for the trip. Target $ bin is fantastic for items like pencils and little note pads. Maybe play a game where they can write down a wish lists.

Just thinking the same thing.
Is this the first time their flying? Otherwise a book & the movie while flying should be just fine.

Wow...these are great ideas!

This is the first plane ride for the 6 year old but the other 2 have been on planes before.

Where can I get maps of the parks?

We are driving and I plan to pick up the Disney color wonder sets. My kids have never had them so it should be a fun surprise for them. They are buy one get one half price this week at CVS I believe. I also found Disney Cars and Princess books of stickers marked down at Kroger to like 89 cents.

I'd add a book each, plus the snacks everyone has mentioned.

We're going to DisneyLand (from upstate NY) in April. I have dd6 and ds7 and will be getting a few different books (at their level) from the library for them to do some reading AND I will be getting a book (at a higher level) for dh and I to take turns reading some chapters. Books, I find are great when on the runway (especially delayed on the runway) because you can't have much other 'stuff' out yet - no tray or any bags or anything nor any electronic games.

We will bring something for a DVD - maybe Dh's laptop. And I will be buying a new movie for them (hoping Alvin and Chipmunks Squeakwel is out on DVD by then, anyone know?) to watch. Then I figure maybe 30 - 45 minutes each on the ONE DS that they share. I, too, will bring Go Fish. I am getting them each new 'journals' (really just brightly colored notepads) - and will have them either draw or write in them a bit on the plane. I think we'll also have some homework type stuff to do.

I'll be bringing at least one meal on the plane, plus snacks.

And it will be a LOOOONG flight....well, 2 flights with the layover.

my boys love the crayola model magic (yes we have taken it on the plane so it is still allowed) along with small trinkets from bubble gum machines like the little aliens and animals you can get from them.

How about a small Transformers toy for each? They have all kinds of vehicles, cars, trucks, planes, motorcycles. It's like 2 toys in one! I think boys can keep occupied with one of these for a while.

Also, Lego makes small vehicles that come in a little plastic box. They are all appropriate for your boys ages. Target carries them. There are several different cars, some trucks, an a helicopter. They are about $6 each. Then, when they are all done putting it together, they have a new toy vehicle to play with!

How about Bendaroos? DS6 loves to create bunches of stuff with them.(tonight he transformed me into a princess by making me a bracelet, rings, necklace, and a tiara! :lovestruc) Easy to bring on the plane, not messy, and endless things to be made!

pipe cleaners...the variety pack type, pony beads (to put on the pipe cleaners to make bracelets if they wish), scratch paper (the kind covered in black where you can scratch a picture into it), play dough, small junk like mini cookie cutters, cars, buttons, etc, that they can stamp into the dough, and interesting snacks.

Having just babysat my friends 2 boys (5 and 7) AAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH:eek::eek: (can you tell I have girls!!)

Do not give them anything noisy, anything they can pick bits off and stuff up their noses/ears or into any sockets on the plane, anything that they can use to "mock" fight each other or smash repeatedly on the tray or the chair back in front, anything they can throw, ......Please nothing that makes a repetitive noise over and over and over when they realise it is annoying!

Boyish exuberance I'm told......:rolleyes:

One point on the colour wonder stuff -it makes my eldest girl travel sick - so test with them first on a car journey - they do have an odd smell.... (the pens - not the boys, or then again.....)

Target has some small lego sets in their Easter section. I just picked up a couple for DS's airplane bag. Last time we went he played with legos the entire flight. Otherwise, I mostly do books. I buy some new ones and keep them a surprise.
