Surprise announcement update!

We have a trip planned for mid-Feb., so I am very excited!! I can't wait to find out!!

That sounds better then the 24hr on Leap day. It would also lure people who don't normally buy hopper passes to doing so for future visits. :goodvibes

ok so ive known about this for all of 2.2 seconds and I am already beside myself with having to wait 3 whole days! I dont care if it is a lame surprise or not...it is a disney deal and any chance to save a little extra money and still be able to go to the most magical place on earth...i'll take it :)

Sounds good to me. Better then the 24 hr on one day. Would also lure people who normally don't purchase this add on to do so going forward.

This is what I think it is. You buy a package and they add park tickets, the room and the dining for 1 day extra. Adding 1 extra day to your vacation for free.

It has to be a free a day at a park.
Leap year adds a "free day to the year" Disney will add a free day to your vaca.

But, once again, for most guests, that is only "worth" $8.00.

Eight dollars is not exactly a big bonus incentive to make a WDW trip.

(I'm just talking WDW. Disneyland has a different ticket price-structure.)

Robo's right...if they're going to add a free day in the parks onto your vaca, it won't be just a free park ticket. I bet they will add a full day onto your vaca package (room and ticket). (And dining if you already have it added to your package). Just my two cents. I can hardly wait to hear what it is! One thing's for sure.....I have never planned to watch Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in the past, so they are at least successfully drawing in people to watch their program (and ads). LOL

I'm not sure they'd add dining myself. Was it ever included in the old 4/3 offers?

so, if it is 1 day free... then since i have already booked my Jan trip... do you think I would get a free day of everything, even if it has free dining?

I sure hope so... we actually have time for an extra day... we drive, and would be leaving on a Thursday... so one day would be AWESOME as long as it includes the room and dining. :)

I'm almost SURE it's an add on day with tix/dining if you buy a pkg. Why? Cause this is the first year we are staying on borrowed DVC points from my DH's uncle. So we wouldn't be able to take part in the offer.

Ahhhh, Murphy's Law! :rotfl:

It almost certainly wouldn't apply to a free dining offer. An "extra day" offer is a form of discount. Free dining is a form of discount. Never the twain shall meet :)

LOL!

We are staying at Disney but without a package on this visit so I can guarantee the free day will depend on buying a package.;)

Florida residents in 2010. We know a couple there that did it.
I believe that deal was for anyone at the time, but I'm not 100% positive.

Yes...that was great...mainly because it shifted my pass renewal from the beginning of January (OUCH right after Christmas) to the beginning of April. Of course now that there is the monthly payment option, the cost of passes is a little less painful...a little.

Remember the scene in "A Christmas story" when Ralphie gets his Little Orphan Annie decoder and furiously decodes the message only to find out it is a commercial????

I think there are going to be a lot of disappointed people when the announcement is made. I have a feeling it will be nothing more than Disneys new marketing for 2012 and hold very little value for the average person.

Awwwwww......Fudge!:lmao:

Also, one would assume it's an either/or situation if it is a Free Day vs. Free Dining. No way they're going to offer Free Dining PLUS a Free Day right?

My mother talked to a rep today and asked about the promotion, basically would it apply to her current trips booked (all free dining). All the rep said was "it may." Now who knows if she realized the trips included free dining, but she didn't say only one promotion per trip. That would be pretty sweet, but who knows the likelihood. I really hope it's a ticket-related promotion.

I don't think Disney NEEDS to provide any type of fantastic deal in 2012. With the upcoming Fantasyland expansion opening, that will sell itself. Expect large crowds this coming year. Disney can just sit back and relax this year.

Well, until the terms are actually publicized, that would be the standard answer. Even with Free Dining. Now we know in general that it won't apply, but there is always that 0.000001% chance it might.

Again, we are also talking about theoreticals right now. We have no idea what the promotion is yet.

There's always that slim chance but Disney won't let you combine the 40% off room discount with Free Dining. I was just going by their current SOP. How COOL would it be if they DID let us have both though??
