Surprise announcement update!

I hope it's another Give a Day get a Disney day, but with 2 million or more days to give away, so it does last longer!

Maybe its "One More Disney Day" with the announcement of a 5th theme park. I know that won't be the announcement, but it would make me stay one day longer.

I am retracting my previous answer (that it is fantasyland related) since on the site it says the announcement will be made from Disneyland and that Disney Parks are celebrating like never before so the fantasyland is too WDW specific. Do all the parks usually have the same promotion?

Did you see the tweet?

Watch Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Dec. 31 for a special announcement by @DisneyParks http://t.co/mfAnnf7J #Disney24

#Disney24 does make it seem like the leap day theory is the winner. Boo.

The last few years, yes. They've gone to "Disney Parks" for promotions (and merchandise) rather than themes or events specific to just one location. That's why I'm fairly sure it won't be a package discount or anything along those lines - because that's the one aspect of Disney World that is still distinctly separate from Disneyland. A park ticket bonus like GAD or the birthday thing, sure, but I seriously doubt it'll be anything like a free extra night on resort packages or anything of that nature.

On the Christmas Parade today, Maria Menounos kept on and on talking about a big announcement that will be made next week. She was talking so much (maybe too excited herself) that Mario Lopez had to intervene and ask her to quit yapping about the "big suprise". Maria did say that it will be something that Disney has never done before... so far we've been speculating on things that Disney has done in the past but what about the "never done"?

Someone have mentionned something about purchasing some sort of package deal and get that same package free or partially free for a next trip (...). I personally like this idea:cool1: But going back to Maria Menounos she did sound like it's something too impossible to be possible...

To be continued:surfweb:

That supports the lame 24 hours on leap day rumor... As far as I know no Disney park has ever remained open for 24 hours. But if that's the much-hyped announcement I think it may just be Disney's most epic fail ever - all this buzz for an "event" that only effects one day, with less than 60 days advance notice!

Yup.

I can barely contain my excitement.

I agree. I hope it is something that will benefit those of us who are going next year in a bigger way. I'm not expecting much though.

What tweet? And who is Disney24? :confused3

A tweet from @DisneyParks.

#Disney24 is not a "person". It is a Twitter "hash tag", used to tag similarly themed posts to make them easier to find. "Disney24" has something to do with the promotion, so the number 24 is important...:rolleyes1

Ah got it. Thanks. :thumbsup2 I never got into Twitter so I have no idea what that stuff is. lol

Well the 24 is either to throw us off or it really does mean 24 hour day....I don't think it's going to just be on the Leap Year day though. That wouldn't make sense. I see it being an every weekend thing if it's supposed to be a promotion.

eta: if that really is the promotion then that's not exciting to me at all. I have young children. I wouldn't be able to take advantage of being in the parks in the middle of the night anyways. Boourns.

I hope it isn't just that MK is open for 24 hrs on leap day. That really doesn't want to make me plan a quick trip down there.

I'm hoping it's a promotion or event that I can take part in as a DVC member/annual passholder.

Wow. If it really is the 24-hour thing? Worst.Promo.Ever.

I'm still holding out hope that it will positively impact my early February trip. You know...like free park hoppers or something. THAT I could use.

But, consider the thousands of guests who have AP's.

Free hopping... less than a biggie.

Here's my prediction after seeing the latest commercials that asked, "What would you do if you had one more day? How many more memories could you make?" ....or something like that.

I think that you will get an extra day with your vacation package. For example, book a 4-day vacation package and get 5-days. Won't do much for DVC or AP holders but seems to fit....
