Surprise announcement update!

have to agree....most likely some announcements, but probably not much of anything that would be something fantastic for the general public.

"One More Disney Day"....well, it is a Leap Year, after all....

Most money is on it being open 24 hours on Feb. 29th. Not sure why they are making that much fuss about that though.

One possibility is that Feb. 29th/Mar. 1st could be considered a single "park day" ticket wise. Although I'm sure many would have wished to know that sooner.

What ever it is, I hope those that are passholder's can take advantage of it too.. if it's adding a day to your multi-day or buy 3 get one free day.. it isn't going to really help us passholder's

I agree. At least with the birthday one you could get a gift card in the amount of a one day ticket... Being local to DIsneyland, that was awesome! I didn't do Give a Day but I think it was the same thing? If it's an extra day on the tickets I'm not sure how they could translate that into something for passholders since the amount could vary greatly depending on how many days you already have on the ticket.

Though it would be nice if they made the annual passes good for 15 months again since mine ends in early September and I want to do the Tower of Terror race and the Wine and Dine (which are late September and early November)!

I'm betting they'll be open 24 hours leap day. If that's the ONLY thing that'll be lame, but if it's part of whatever else is going on I think it'll be fun for those of us that can go. They've done it before at Disneyland in 1985 to celebrate the park's anniversary.

We have annual passes, so the extra day won't help us much...BUT we are traveling with friends with military tickets...who would benefit. Only problem...we leave at 5am for Disney the next morning.

As a passholder, unless they give you an extra night for free at a hotel, it won't help us with the two trips we have planned this year. I hope they include passholders in their promo!! But, if not, its still a great deal for everyone else!

I think it has something to do with the leap year. You get an extra day in the year so, you get an extra day to your vacation! That would be a hugee savings for us also!

Ahhh, I think that's a pretty good guess. That seems very logical. so I'm stealing it as my guess too:)

What fuss? Some social media plants and an announcement on the NYE broadcast of TV network that they actually own? That's not much of a fuss.

OK, maybe I'm just tired, but didn't passholders already get the "extra day" on their passes? My expiration date didn't change - it's still 11/27 - so 2/29 is already included. So if they give an "extra day" on a ticket somewhere along the line, it's not like passholders are losing out. We just got it first.

I'm hoping it's more along the lines of getting an extra night free when you book a Disney vacation. I've still got two more trips to book for next year, so that would be nice. I've signed up for the updates too - thanks OP!

You are right, it really isn't much of a fuss.. in fact, I have not seen any ad's for this and I live in FL... no media ad's are out on it.. nothing on the TV's or in the papers.. at least not where I live..

FD has pretty much been announced for beginning of the year.. they do FD regularly anyways.. I dont think that would be a big announcement. I personally loved that stay 4 get 3 free they did a couple years ago. That would be nice. As far as leap day.. most people who are going in Feb are alreayd booked. So it would only help a handful of people.
I am just as curious!! But like a PP said, all I see is Ralphie :lmao:

You are tired.. you are looking at it wrong as far as a passholder. You obtain a pass that is good for one year.. that year is a calendar year regardless if it is leap year or not. If they do a promo where it is adding a day to a multi-day ticket.. we do get cheated.. our pass is for one calendar year.. and the "29th" is included on that calendar.. Now if they were to extend our expiration date by a day, then we would be getting that "day".

They certainly knew how to tweak the Disney community though...they got us talking about it, didn't they?

This is what I'm hoping for and that it will last for all of 2012. I can't imagine thousands of people getting really excited and booking a Disney trip because the theme parks have extended hours for the year. It has to be something really enticing if the CM a PP talked to is correct about it getting really busy starting Jan. 1.

Hoping for something besides an extra day on Feb 29th. That will help so few people going the other nearly 11 months, as I don't think that is really enticing enough for a "major announcement".

I am waiting to purchase my AP though .. .just in case they do offer an extra day's ticket and then will decide what works better in our case.

For GAD, we had AP, too, and it was REALLY nice to get the GAD Fast Pass. We went in middle of July and used that GADFP completely! I'd like to see that again.

I wonder if it will be something like a free night at your hotel plus a free day on your park ticket? That would be kind of neat...it certainly seems like it's something regarding extending your stay somehow, or getting more time on your vacation. Whatever it is, hopefully it's something that will benefit everyone looking to visit in 2012.

I disagree that it won't help you,of course we have to learn more about the promotion but if it's a full value day it can definitely help a passholder.I did the give a day,get a day promotion and the birthday promotion and both promotions basically reduced my pass renewals by a full day admission price($83-$87).I did the Florida resident plan to renew my plan last year, used the Give a day voucher which worked as my down payment and my monthly payment per pass for the seasonal was $13.23.I just renewed it for next year and since it's a renewal on the Fl. resident monthly plan you don't have to put a down so now my monthly payment per pass is $21.39.

I doubt we'll renew when our passes run out this year. We love Disney...but gee, we have been spending A LOT of TIME and MONEY at Disney.
