Surprise announcement update!

Am I missing something here??

Free 5 day trips for 240 people next year is lame? Most free trip prizes are for 4 people total.

24 hours leap day is cute.
stay at least 3 days get 1 free is a standard promo they have run before.

but 60 free trips for up to 240 people?

JMHO -- Mary

That's the only good part about it. But people were hoping for some promotion that they'd actually be able to take advantage of.

Not necessarily some promotion, maybe something new....... or even something old being brought back - like some PI clubs!!!

Hey, is there anything in the terms that would prevent a back to back stay to get two free days? :)

It did say it would only be applied once per package/reservation, but if they are booked as too separate ones, and no other discounts are used, it seems possible. But they did also say that only a limited number were available...

Nope. But if there's a minimum ticket purchase involved, you'd really lose out on that part.

how so? say you wanted to stay for 2 weeks - as many international visitors do, instead of only getting one extra night/day free, if you did it as two separate week long bookings you'd get two free nights/days.

Still not a great deal but it makes it a little bit more useful to a few more people surely?

perhaps the general public (non-DISboard savy peeps) will bite but I know of many people who are rather dismayed re all the smoke for what is really much of nothing of note.

If you're going to stay for more than 10 days and need two separate tickets, sure...but then again, an AP probably would be better. And then there are the AP room discounts, etc. to consider.

If it's 10 days or less and you are required to get a ticket for each ressie, then it's costing you more to get the tickets.

It does seem to say "package", so it seems at least 1 1-day base ticket would be required.

And since the first few days of any ticket are the most expensive, you could easily lost the value of any discount quickly by booking a second package with a separate park ticket. I didn't see how many days were required, but it does require SOME ticket purchase. Of course, you could keep one of the sets of tickts unused, to upgrade on a future trip, but all of THAT for a 25% discount seems when they offer room discounts at least that high all the time.

I dont really understand why you are all complaining. It is a great opportunity for the people that are able to enjoy this. For those of us that are unable to, it is "unfortunate" but you are all acting like they gave you something and took it away.

I bet you would have complained if they hadn't made any announcement.

Man... Some of you Disney fans kill me..
i guess it is because first they announced the announcement in an email, then I saw it promoted on banner ads, then the youtube page.. I really thought it would be something a lot of people could take advantage of. I think the promo was not worth the hype.

ETA - I looked at the vaca give away and that does look like a good giveaway, esp considering it includes the gift card and enhancement

24 hours leap day IS cute but seeing as though there are EMHs where MK goes to 3am sometimes I don't see that as a big whoop.

The promo seems fine if you are there during that small window but certainly not enough to make me want to head there earlier than planned. And with all the bells and whistles that was what I thought there might be.

Because one free night's hotel is probably not worth having to buy another set of park tickets for your entire family. You would have to buy tickets with both packages.

While watching Biggest Loser, there was a WDW commercial. But it wasn't for OMDD offer - it was a reminder that time was running out on a up to 30% off offer, covering the same time as OMDD and more.

So what the really did was replace the existing offer with a lesser one (although it depends on which resorts).
