Surial

I have a PG-rated report on my website at www.castawayclub.com
We try to do it every time we cruise, if possible, and we even did RCCL's version (the "Rasual Ritual Chamber") when we sailed on Radiance. It's a great couples experience, and a real bargain. Just make your appointment early, as this one goes quickly!

We did the surial on the Magic last year.

Was it worth it? yes.

Would we do it again? Not likely.

It was a great experience, but once was enough.

Next time we'll try another spa treatment instead. But make no mistake, the surial was a very relaxing and rejuvinating experience.

My fondest memory of the surial was the fact that it was the only time we were really alone and away from the kids, so we could be, um... intimate.

Ok, DW will kill me if she reads this, but hey - you asked a question so I wanted to give a true and realistic answer!!!

It was a great setting, totally private and (I thought anyway) kinda romantic.
But if all you have in mind (as if men ever have anything ELSE in mind?) is what I mentioned above, just send the kids to the lab and have some private time in your stateroom.

As for the experience itself - as I said, it was really nice, but given the choice both DW and I would prefer a good mudbath or full body massage!!

Just MHO :) :)

We've done the surial twice now. We'll more than likely do it again in September. It definitely is something to try at least once. Where else do you get intimate private time with your mate and get to smear mud all over them in a setting much more desirable than the garden after the rain? ;)

We've not done any of the massages that are offered. Exactly what is the differences between the body massage onboard and the cabana massage - the setting?

Yep, the setting is the main difference. I used to always get a massage on Castaway Cay, as you can't beat the gorgeous sea in the background. But a few trips ago there was a large group on board, and many of them had set up "camp" behind the cabanas. They were extremely loud and getting louder as they consumed more alcohol, and I spent my massage listening to them discuss their dealing with their clients (which I thought was inappropriate, since they were from a financial services company...I surely wouldn't like my investments discussed within earshot of strangers).
That was a one-time incident, but since then it's convinced me to enjoy that short ansd precious Castaway Cay time on the beach and get a massage later, on the ship. The fact that there is typically a "Disney Dreams" matinee makes it easy...that frees up the evening for fun in the spa.

I had a cabana massage in June, 2001, and it was so hot and sticky that it wasn't nearly as nice as the one I had onboard the ship earlier in the week. Yes, it's nice to have relaxing time - like you'll have no where else - like a movie star or something, but if you go when it's hot, it may be too uncomfortable.

Also, you get to the cabana's thru the sand. Something about sand being rubbed into the bottom of my legs ...just wasn't too relaxing.

It was nice, but I was spoiled on-board. Will definitely do the on-board massage again this June, 2002.
:D
