Does anyone know if this is still available and what the cost is for it? I have seen the prices for it somewhere, but they weren't on the new spa price list.

Thanks.

It is called the Surial Ritual Chamber and it is $83 for 60 minutes.

I found this information on Barb's website disneycruiser.com.

I beleive this is the new price - it wasn't this much before.

Hope this helps.

Lisa

The name has been changed to Rasul(sp?). Sorry I don't have my Vista Spa docs in front of me from my on our April 04 cruise. However, if you were to call it the suriel spa, they know what you are talking about. They used both in April.

My DW and me did it on our cruise. It was very interesting and refreshing. I would recommend it for any couple. We paid $68 plus tip for it then.

it has gone up to $83.00. I liked it more this year than last. Last year there were some problems with the temp and the floor was so hot, we had to stand on the seats so our feet would not burn. Not very relaxing and i'm sure we looked like idiots. That was all fixed last week and it was much more enjoyable.

Also, it gets very steamy in there. There is a button you can push outside the steam part and turn it off. We were so hot until then. Even considered asking if we could end early, but I didn't want them to think that my hubby and I couldn't handle being together for 50 minutes, lol.

The name change is interesting, as that's what it is known as on Royal Caribbean's ships. We did the Rasul when we sailed to Alaska. The chamber was different (smaller) that Disney's, and the steam was automated so you had to go by their schedule. I prefer chosing my own duration!

I think the name change may just be on the Wonder because on the Disney Magic May 1st it was still listed under the original name.

Hello Tim! (SORRY!!!) Nice to see the countdown in your sig. Please tell me you're going to be posting to the cruise thread at some point! :teeth: Perhaps after it settles down a bit, if ya know what I mean.

I'm sure I'm going to sound like a complete idiot, but I really don't know the answer to this question. WHY do you need to tip the spa personnel for the surial bath? Isn't their job to show you to the door, explain the procedure, and leave you alone? Isn't that like 2 minutes of effort?

Seriously, I don't know. I understand tipping the folks who give the massages, facials, etc. They've obviously provided a service. But walking you to a door? Is that really tip-worthy? Please tell me what I'm missing.

We also danced around in the hot water! I am glad to hear that it is repaired. I spent most of my time standing on the chair to keep from scalding my feet!

Go to "cast a way club. com" and look under spa. The first two links tell all. I tried to copy & paste the links, but no luck.

I can not believe they would edit out such a helpful site! This seems childish to me. But I guess it's buisness, not personal.

Does anyone else have as detailed explination of the bath on their site?

This was my surial experience:

We (DH and I) checked in- got changed in to robes and met outside the locker rooms with a spa attendant.
She she took us to a room actually two rooms one is steam with little nooks and showers and the other has I think a bench and a shower.
She gave us a little tray with salt scrub and and two different kinds of mud. On a little table there were massage oils, lotions, and shampoo.
She told us a little about the muds (one for face one for body)
Told us she would lock the door and come back in 50 minutes and knock then after an hour she would open the door.
Personally we loved it. From what I understand some people have a G rated experience and some NOT.
Some people don't care for it and say it is not romantic (what is more romantic than being locked in a room without clothing with your partner?) Also I know that there have been equipment problems No pun intended! (no hot water, steam not working etc...)
Anyway we really liked it- but we have small children and don't get that much time alone and when we do there is always a risk of someone calling "Mommy!"
At the end there was a little sales pitch - I could have done without that. And a little speech about health benefits of a salt scrub (like we were in there for our HEALTH)
DH is a physician and I am an RN and we just nodded and smiled even though we thought she was full of it!
Anyway I hope this helps
:D

Does anyone else ever get the heebie-jeebies about the Surial/Rasul and the people in there before you *not* being "G-rated"? :scared1: I mentioned it as a possible enticement to get my DH to cruise and he nearly passed out at the thought of that! :o

I'm assuming they clean them each time you leave. This would be no different than any public shower.. hotel, stateroom... don't you think people do more than shower in them?? (wink)

What about the beds you sleep in at hotels? Clean sheets I'm sure.

First of all they clean out the "chamber" in between couples.
Look, it was nice (my wife and I did it 8 days ago).
The attendant gave us a very brief rundown and then left. The mud was ok, but one of the other lotions had a very nice tingle within a minute of being put on. Very soothing on the Castaway Cay sunburn.
The chamber with the steam is controlled by the little button outside, in the bigger chamber. You hit that button and the steam starts pretty fast, peaks within 2-3 minutes and then will stop a few minutes later unless you hit the button again. It does get very hot in there.
My one complaint was that the showers within the steam chamber were just cold water. Too much of a contrast to the steam. I would have preferred a temperature control like the shower in the outside chamber. I would not have set it to hot, just a lukewarm temperature to cool off a little from the steam.
Is it worth $83 (yes that is the new price). For the couple who doesn't get too much time away from the kids..Yep.

My husband and I had done this on our cruise two years ago and loved it! We cruised again last August and couldn't wait to go again, but much to our surprise, the treatment had changed! They no longer use mudd. They gave us lotions and coconut scrub, etc. Not as good as before! We were very disappointed the second time around.

I believe the treatment has changed on the Wonder but remains the same on the Magic.

We did the Surial on the Magic during the May 1st Cruise and it was the same as the first time we did the treatment in 2002.

We were on the Wonder in April and they gave us mud. We didn't get any coconut lotion (good thing because DH is deathly allergic to coconut--might have ruined the mood). They had the tingly lotion as well as a lot of other lotions. DH can't wait to cruise again to try this again. BTW, for the poster who was grossed out by other people "using" the chamber. It is cleaned thoroughly we were told and the tile is a bit hard anyway, so I would suggest bringing extra towels. How many of you have told friends about this and they respond, "they have that on the Disney Cruise." LOL. I guess they have to offer something that could be considered something other than G rated.
