I was playing around on the Disney World website, trying to figure out if the new room-only code would save us any money over our AAA rate. So, it pulls up the resort I've chosen and gives the total rate, but above there is a tab that says "Disney Recommends", and it gives another resort and rate choice. Just for grins, I clicked on it to see what it was. It was the Fort Wilderness cabins, for the low, low rate of $15,228 for 8 nights! That's almost $2000 a night! What is even funnier, is that since I was searching for rates under the new code, above the rate it says, "Special Room Offer Only". Yeah, that's quite a savings isn't it?

For $2000 a night, I sure wouldn't be staying in a cabin!!!!! :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: That is what happened to me. I was looking at the Yacht Club for 9 nights and the total was $25,000  (a little over my budget).

What a deal!

The bad thing is, people would probably pay it, if they raised their rates that high!

I hate these posts knocking Disney. So what if it's 2000 a night. Worth every penny! Kidding, kidding, TOTALLY KIDDING. :lmao: But seriously I know there are people who would probably complain that you're not pleased about anything Disney offers, even 2 grand a night. :teeth:

You had me going for a minute there, Deb!!! :rotfl:

I just looked up the cabins by going through the regular rack rate search, and for the exact same time frame and same type of cabin, the rate is only $2151. So, I guess that "special deal" is only for the true die-hard Disney fan who wants the opportunity to give them as much of their money as possible!:lmao:

I hope they are not paying the IT team any serious money, as their online systems are some of the worst I have ever seen.

I completely agree. I was on the site yesterday and noticed a site survey link at the bottom of the page. I gave my opinion on the structure of the site and it didn't get glowing reviews.

This is so true that I never go there and I've filled out tons of surveys they've sent me, but they never improve it. :confused3

I couldn't even get in to the AP site the past 2 days.. Now I'm glad I didn't.. If I saw a Value resort for like $1,000 a night I would have passed out.. LOL

This summer during our stay the entire property went down, No computers working, could not check in, could not check out, due to a power outage in California. You would think they would have their own system in Florida.

What happened? That must of been a nightmare for folks who had to catch planes and such..

Sammie-
Were you there the week of Aug 12-17ish...It went down one day during our stay and the room charge stopped working (although that was quickly fixed, I'm sure that's the first thing they fixed... )

You just left and they mailed you the final bill and balances were applied to a credit card.

Yes it was in August.

remember the posts about the computers being down the day the discounts came out for the fall? i don't remember if it was the day of the disney visa discount or the general public code, but no one could get a quote all day.

we checked in 8/29 and the systems were down. took over an hour to check in and then we had to pay for the meals ("free" dining) with our credit card and get the credit back to our card from concierge late that night. another hour long wait. at first, the cm at check in (who was in training) was basically telling us we were out of luck as far as the dining plan).

We were there Aug 11 - 16th and the system was down on the 15th and 16th. You couldn't do the airline check in or even use your room key card to buy a snack from the carts in Epcot! :confused3 I couldn't believe that Disney could have such a wide spread glitch!

That was from May 2005 in the Judge's Tent in Toontown. We were waiting by the rope in front of the train station for Toontown to open, and once they let us in, DD was one of the first ones to get to the door of the tent where Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora were waiting. They each took a little girl by the hand and led them in to help open the Princess room. I don't know if they still do that anymore, because when we were there this past January, we were first in line again, but the Princesses didn't come out, they just stayed in their room. It may have been due to the fact that the stampede of mothers racing to get their girls to a Princess first became too much of a hazard. My DD was nearly knocked over by a mom trying to push past her to "save" a princess for her daughter, who was about 50 yards behind us. Fortunately, Snow White saw this happen and walked right past the rude mother, and grabbed DD's hand. She's been my favorite Princess ever since! :lovestruc
