We were really looking forward to San Angel Inn --- just for the atmosphere, but the menu and food pics just look gross to us....

We changed to Tokyo Dining... Doesn't have quite the atmosphere, but there seems to be a much larger variety of food choices there (even when we exclude the unwanted sushi......)

I don't know --- what IS the food like at San Angel?? Did I do the right thing??

I think you chose good!:thumbsup2

My DH and I have eaten at several DW restaurants and San Angel by far is the biggest loser. We had the worst server ever and the food was disgusting. My chicken was completely dry and nasty. I could have went on an off day, but that off day made me never ever want to go back. No second chances for San Angel in my book.

While I personally enjoyed our dining experience at San Angel Inn, I think you will enjoy your visit at Tokyo Dining. Other than the rather crowded wait to get into TD and Teppan Edo, it was enjoyable. :thumbsup2

I have dined at all but 5 TS and WDW and San Angel falls in the bottom three. I wouldn't spend any time second guessing yourself.

Even though I had had mixed experiences at San Angel over the years, our visit there last summer was actually really excellent. The food had improved greatly from our last visit and we had a great time. I will be going back - not this summer's trip, but next year's trip.

We like the food as San Angel (it tends to be more Mexican in style reminding me of meals we have had in Mexico City, instead of the Southwestern-style Mexican that Americans are used to), but we like Tokyo Dining, too. Because the tables at San Angel are so ridiculously close together, for a nice dinner, I would pick Tokyo Dining.

SA is getting more and more positive reivews. I havent been since 2008 b/c our food and service was horrible but I do plan on going back. If you find more to eat at Tokoyo then it was the right decision. Im sure youll be in the Mexico pavillion so you will still get to enjoy the beauty right?

We loved San Angel Inn! We ate there on the last night of our 10-night stay in August. I agree with the pp that said it is more traditional Mexican than what we get here in the states (in most areas). You can read the review through the link in my signature. I ordered the ribeye tacos and I was very worried that they would be chewy. Nothing worse than being in the middle of your taco trying to work on a piece of meat that you can't chew! But it was not the case at all. We would certainly go back again.

San Angel Inn was the surprise hit of our last trip. I expected to not really like it and nearly cancelled several times based on reviews here on the DIS. The food was excellent and we loved the atmosphere. I service was perfect.
We will be back.
We are trying Tokoyo Dining for the first time on our upcoming trip.
Enjoy.
