I can't take it anymore. I'm booking a trip. I tell you this place is addictive.

I'm gonna do a suprise trip for my boyfriend. He doesn't know anything. I called his boss to make sure he could get the time. He was really cool about it. I couldn't believe it, HE'S A DISNEY BOSS! Told me he'd been a couple of times and was an addict too!

My plan is to wisk my boyfriend away on the 12/4/04 do 4 days Poly or Wilderness, and then three days Wonder. Its his first trip, my 4th. Its been 3 years, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I want this to be the best trip ever!

I'm so excited I could just explode!

Sounds great...but I would do 3 days Poly, 4 on the ship!!!! A 3 day cruise is so short...as soon as you get your bearings it is time to get off!!!

DFiore - is your boyfriend a CM? I am a CM as well. I will send you a PM with some cruise advice that you may want to read before you book if you haven't already!

Wait a minute DFiore - are you a CM too?? You must be having been that many times! I'm a CM who's a Disneyphile as well :earsgirl: It drives my co-workers crazy - LOL. They just can't believe I think a Disney cruise is a great idea for a vacation with my boyfriend when neither of us has kids.

They just don't get it that I'M the one who's the big kid and will be wearing my Minnie ears as we board:earsgirl:

Yup, I'm certifiable all right! LOL.

I'm one CM a Silver Pass is NEVER wasted on!

We're not CM thats why I was so shocked to find others like myself! We're Cops!

How TOTALLY cool is that! BOTH of you?? Well, I hope you have a GREAT time - the ship will be all decorated for Christmas and hopefully Castaway Cay will be open again:)

That's a great idea! Wish someone would do that for me!

How are you going to make sure you get his birth certificate or passport???

What a great boss!and what a great girlfriend if you ask me. Have a great time.

I didn't even think of that!.... I'll have to come up with something....Its a public record, I wonder if I could just send away for a birth certificate from another state.....hmmmmmmmm.

....What ever I do, I must be sneaky about it.

I BOOKED!!!! WHO HOOOOOO!!!!!

I don't think you can send for someone else's birth certificate. I know if you use VitalChek, it costs an arm & a leg and takes forever. Maybe he has a passport? Maybe his parents (no clue how old he is) has his birth certificate or you can find where he has it.

Can you just tell him when it gets closer that you're taking him away and he needs one?

If you have a joint checking account together, perhaps you can suggest getting a bank safe deposit box toghether also, you know, better than anyone else, the risk of leaving your identifying info lying around the house;)

can someone tell me what a cm, ds, dd, dh...all this is?? i realize that the s, d, h, must stand for son, daughter and husband but what is the d for and what is a cm??? I will probably feel dumb when you tell me but it drives me nuts lol.

Thanks

Welcome to the boards. CM = Crew member on the ships and Cast Member on land. DD, DH, DS, etc can mean Darling, Disney, Dear etc daughter, husband, son etc. For most of us, we're just too lazy to type Disney Daughter - so may characters when DD works just as well.

The CMs are the folks that make Disney and your cruise special - and yes I'm definitely prejudiced for good reason.

Hey D...:p Hope you guys have a great time!!! ...After all, how could you not...Its DISNEY...:earsboy:

cm_mom....thank you so very much for taking your time to teach me the board lingo lol. This board is the best thing.....havent gotten the chance to get on today until now....(1130pm) and all day I was having withdrawls!!!!! Thanks again

toopure4u, glad to help. We were ALL newbies when we first started posting. Like I keep telling folks when they say computers are too difficult to learn to use...the folks who are using them now weren't BORN knowing how. They learned, and we can too.

The boards are fun to learn how to use and you'll find most of the folks are kind and caring...although some of us have a bad day occasionally, just like any family.

Dfiore1 - let us know how the surprise goes. I think we're all romantics at heart. DH and I are hoping to cruise in January 32 years after our first date.:love2:

You could always tell your DBF that your going to go on a trip somewhere else and that he may need his B-cert. Than the surprise won't be ruined and you don't have to be sneekie with trying to get it. Just a taught!! Have a safe and awesome time!! Best of Luck not telling him, I am terrible with secrets.

:teeth: :jumping1:

I did a surprise cruise for my husband's 40th birthday. I cleared it with his boss, making sure all his deadlines were before the day we were leaving. I took the day off we were leaving, started packing the bags as soon as he left for work, and had my mom drive me to his work to pick him. I had a friend write a poem, then had my DH's boss deliver it to him when I arrived to pick him up. He was so incredibly surprised and so stunned. It took him until we were on the airplane for it to sink in. It was so totally worth all the time and effort on my part. Good luck to you in your plans, and if you need anything, send me a message.

Our surprise had to be modified--I love her, but she's waaaaay too particular for a-n-y-o-n-e to have done her packing for her, so I informed her on her b'day that the cruise would be in a week and a half, and that everyone else was in on it so all of her immediate concerns (but what about work? what about DS's school? I'll have to get prescriptions refilled...yada yada yada) were already addressed. Wish I could have done a true surprise on departure day but thats my situation--

You already got the most practical solution on passport--make something up for way in the future , but lets get the passports now type of thing...if birth certificate and a photo ID suffice (I forget, do they? I just always have and use a passport) then you could perhaps use parents or some other means.

Also agree to get as many days on ship as possible, the comment about getting off just as you get your bearings.

Is the DCL going to be a surprise he finds out about at WDW? Cool. So his cruise-specific stuff can be in your luggage. Like formal attire for him.

I did a poem like another poster said they had a friend do, and I put together a book that contained color printouts of the menus, printouts of photos/.jpeg files I found from links on these boards and other, the itinerary, the brochures for excursions, the cruise brochure itself that i picked up at AAA (though didn't book through them), and I decorated the poem (it was 4 pages!) with disney clip art I found somewhere on the net. Dave's DCL tribute was a big source. Oh, also included sample navigators from our same itinerary.

I also arranged a bon voyage package for the stateroom--korbel never tasted so good as on the Magic--which was miracle of miracles already in the stateroom when we boarded at noon and went straigh to the stateroom to drop off our carry-ons. DS liked the chocolate dipped strawberries so much that is the part of the next crusie he mentions most often.

enjoy, and enjoy the plotting, planning, and sneaking involved in the surprise. the only downside of a surprise cruise, though, i want to mention--you deprive him of the fun and excitement of the anticipation. So resolve that this way--he gets the fun of the surprise this time, and then you two can both enjoy looking forward to the second DCL cruise together!
