I posted a few days ago about my DH having an attack of gout and my sinus infection. Well DH has been on meds for the gout and he thought it was getting better. Then today he called me from work, it had gotten a LOT worse and he called to make an appt to see the dr again. Then about an hour later he called me back in tears (not a normal thing for him at all). He was in intense pain and asked me to meet him at the doctor he was going in early and he needed me because he couldn't walk from the car to the building without help.
We got there and within 5 minutes of him being examined we were sent to the hospital for an emergency ?dopler? They thought for sure it wasn't gout but instead a blood clot. Which meant they were going to put him in the hospital for 4-5 days and then on medication for up to 6 months. At that point all kinds of things were running through my mind.. his health was number one, but of course our trip was there too. I got him to the hospital and while we were waiting I called DVC member services.. as I was glancing at the confirmation sheet I had gotten I noticed they had us checking out 2 days earlier than we were supposed to.
So *IF* we were able to go (which at this point I didn't think we were) where were we staying those two extra nights? Could they still give us those nights? Would we lose our points? Was it too late to put them into holding? And then the guilt set in because DH was in so much pain and I shouldn't care about vacation right?
Well they did the dopler and thank God... no blood clot. So back to the doctors office we went. Once there they wanted to do an x-ray to see if maybe he broke a small bone in his foot. The x-ray came back and thank God once again.. no broken bones. It is an attack of gout.. a severe attack. He was told to triple his medication and also given a prescription of vicotin for the pain.
I am really hoping that with time (since we are driving and not flying) and increasing his meds this will take care of it.
We also got a note from the doctor to get an electric cart or wheel chair if needed. So.. if you do see that short lady pushing this tall dark haired man, OR two girls struggling to push him and the short lady laughing.. stop by to say hi. That will be us.
