Grand Floridian Bldg 9 (Big Pine) Resort Studio Theme Park View

I said on opening day that I think that trees days are numbered... I've heard countless complaints for the "theme park views" so far.
While possibly true, but how could this not have been an issue when it was a cash resort up until a few months ago. If it’s theme park view for DVC, was it theme park view for cash?

I was told, as shared, that many times they make view determination on paper without actually knowing what it will turn out to be because many times, that needs to be decided when doing total points for the resort for declaring.

Obviously no one actual went in to the building to double check.

But. With enough feedback hopefully it was get reclassified like those TPV rooms did at BLT.
And just who would I contact about this? Thanks!

I have contacted MS through the email system and just said to please forward it to someone who needs to know. I got a call back from someone at DVC about it and they said they would pass it along to others....that is when they shared that they can't always tell when a resort is being built, etc. I had a 1 bedroom PV at RIV that was ground floor and all you could see was the hedges around the quiet pool...no view of the lake at all...said I did not think that room should be that view. I did not want any points back but said I was sharing so that they had feedback from me in case they decided to adjust things as time goes on.

Has this issue ever been resolved (i.e. using a chainsaw)? I want to book this room, but if I wanted to gamble, I would go to Vegas instead.

Lol, a chainsaw doesn't seem like the Disney way around this problem. I would think they would just re-classify the view designation for this room (Preferred?).

If I'm not wrong BPK is made of only two gigantic units? So it might be possible to reallocate the points and downgrade those to standard.
I still think it could be argued that they cannot move points between individual vacation homes, but it's tougher. I think in this case no one would argue.

Or, there are two other solutions:
- the chainsaw
- create a new booking category: big pine view at Big Pine Key, like they did for BW view at BWV. Same cost as TPV, but a view dedicated to nature lovers. They will be the last rooms to be booked, but someone getting them because they just want to stay at the GF and cannot get anything else, at least know what they're getting. I'd be furious to pay a premium and get that unknowingly.

This kind of makes the fact that BCV offers no choice of views seem a little better. You're not promised anything, so it's hard to be too disappointed.

BPK is two units only. When they assign points to a unit I don’t think it’s by room and it’s just a total for all the rooms in that unit.

The units at BPK were clustered by floors

Has anyone stayed recently? Is the gigantic tree still there? Are those rooms still classified as Theme Park View?

Stayed on that side in December on the 3rd floor rm 9346. No more tree(s) . Only the palms are left.

Pic is from 1 room over in September.
